Disney's Art of Animation Resort Info Thread! Mouseketeers welcome!

We are in our LM room right now! (Building 8) which is furthest from Animation Hall :( anywho, does anyone have any questions i can answer??? ive so much appreciated everyone on here and im trying to return the favor! Also one great thing somehow i missed, they now offer FREE Internet!! woohoo!

We'll be in a Little Mermaid room a couple of days on our October trip. With all the cell service talk, I'm just curious - what are you experiencing with that?

We did not have any issues with the air.. It is sensor controlled but Everytime anyone moved it seemed to turn on it stayed very cool in our room and last week it was in the 90's...

Where do you guys clean your refillable mugs at?

People actually clean them? :laughing: swish shish dump. anything left in the mug flavors the next cup! :cool1::rotfl2:
 


we had cell service in the room - no problems. For the record we were in 8817 (4th floor building 8 facing the parking lot but down near the lake). We have straighttalk.

Beds were comfortable. Room temp was set at 74. Only complaint was the location of the smoking area directly outside the food court. When you sat in the Little Mermaid section of the food court you could smell the smoke if the wind was blowing. You could also smell it on that end of the Nemo pool.

I called down once for someone smoking on the balcony and was told someone would be sent out directly to deal with it. DH saw security on segways roaming the outer walkways of our building on another day.
 
I do want to add that they have issues with the food at A of A. Food service was really slow from prep to check out, where you order hamburgers the line goes where a cash register is. Poor design. The garbage cans are so small and poorly designed. It is a struggle to throw food away.
 
I agree, the trash/tray disposal area is poorly planned. The door for trash is much too small and it always covered in some sort of mess, as is the floor in front of it. I can't understand how this got approved.
 


Someone mentioned earlier about the weight of the comforters and I agree; the fabric and the stitching make them very stiff and heavy. I'd like to see a warm comforter that is less structured.
 
We were in building 7 and didn't have any issues with cell service. We made some calls and I used internet on my phone thru Verizon. No problems at all.
 
I am just back from a week's stay in the LM section 8807, 4th floor facing the pool. I also was able to get cell service in the hotel room. I have Sprint (if that matters).

I did find that the walk to get drinks was quite a huff. We got the free drink mugs and barely used them because no one wanted to walk to the food court after walking all day in the parks:(. I really wish they would put a drink station near the little mermaid section.

I heard from several people that they got room credits because there were several issues with their rooms, safes and the walk. The people that were staying next door to me received a $200.00 room credit because of the problems they were having.

I still had a great time:)

Yes! They were the heaviest comforters I've ever had on a bed in my life. There was no way I could sleep with that thing. I had to fold it up and put it in the other room.
 
I'm in building 8 right now ground floor and have no cell issues. The walk is really annoying, the resort is gorgeous though. Check in was crazy busy yesterday I'm glad I did online check in.
 
My own thoughts on a few of the issues that were brought up...

I noticed the trash cans were too small too, but I think that was designed that way on purpose, since they have real utensils and plates, so people didn't just dump their whole tray, glass and all. It only took an extra second, I didn't mind it.

I hated the comforter. No comfort at all, soooo stiff and heavy, we fought with it every night to take it off the bed.

We were in building 9, facing the pool, 3rd floor and had no problems with cell service, and we also had no issues with the wifi.

All in all we loved it there!
 
Just wanted to comment on the comforters. We've had the same experience at Pop when they did a re-do, including new comforters. They were very heavy and stiff as cardboard. So stiff that it took a lot of effort just to fold them down to the end of the bed. We just took them off the beds & left them off, but they were so huge when folded that there was nowhere to go with them. Then our mouskeeper offered to bring us some that had already been laundered a few times and "softened up." Much better. By our next trip, they were already soft & flexible when we arrived.

So if you're uncomfortable just ask your mousekeeper for some that have already been washed. :goodvibes
 
We usually stay at pop and are put in the farthest rooms from the main building, is the walk from lm really that much different from pop? 25 days till we leave yipeeee! :cool1:

We had a further walk staying at the pops and Caribbean then the little mermaid section. We were in section 9.. Soooo, I really did not think anything of the walk.. I actually enjoyed the walk with my kids and they didn't mind it either.. We timed it and it was 5 minutes...
