The Dis Goes to Italy 5/24 - 6/1/2012 Viva Italia!!!!

Lauren -

The book is awesome :artist::artist: such talent ....

Do you think it would be tacky :scared: of me to order a copy and then just paste my face onto the pages :lmao:

Yeah - I guess so too

I think you'll have to give a scrapbook seminar while we're on the cruise in December - perhaps in the Venician palazzo area some evening over cocktails.

:moped: - Podcast ABD Bella Italia May 2014 ??? :scratchin I think we should start an email campaign to Kevin :worship:
I've already found a restaurant to go to for dinner - it's up on the top of a hill- appropriate or what :thumbsup2

I have actually been trying to come up with a way to do something just like that! Basically I would pull out all the journaling pages and then just replace the photos of me and Jeri with ones of whoever, which because of the CD I pretty much have. I think the book would wind up being about 20-40 pages. It would be time consuming as heck though and I think logistically it could be a nightmare. But I am in love with the idea of it. :goodvibes

Happy to give a seminar! Somebody bring a laptop with Photoshop Elements 9 and I'll bring the supplies!

Beautiful pages, Lauren. I don't want you to be finished! Isn't there some rule that you have to keep going until the next trip starts?

I'm glad to receive the reading suggestions just in time to blunt scrapbook page withdrawal.

Now I just need someone to FedEx me some of those starfish pastries...

Normally that rule would be true, but in this case I had to clear the scrapping decks for the new Charlotte pages to come! Who is STILL not here! I told my sister I have Friday and Monday off from work this weekend so start hopping up and down! Apparently if she hasn't shown herself by Wednesday the doctor is going to give her some encouragement to come on.

Lauren - The finished scrapbook looks fantastic!!

:grouphug:

Ditto. I am in violent agreement.

You have also to let us know about Charlotte and Jeri's news too.

I'm going to try and make the Kouign Amann pastry mentioned by a NY Diser. It looks really tasty. If it approaches starfish status, I'll let you know.

I'm having withdrawals already....

Those starfish pastries were soooo goood. mmmmmm

I finally told Jeri that it is permissible to follow up on a job interview if they haven't gotten back in touch with you a week after they said they would. *gesh* Jeri was told in the interview that they wanted someone to start by Oct 1 so they would be making a choice within that week. Anyway, Jeri sent a follow-up email and they replied that no choice has been made yet (good) and that they expected to have one by the end of September. I guess they gave up on that Oct 1 thing. My fingers have been crossed so hard for so long I'm starting to get a cramp!

In other news my internet is so slow that snail parents bring their snail children over to my house to show them how slow slow really is. It has become so slow, in fact, that to upload my pages I had to load them on a thumb drive and when I was working at various law offices around town I was uploading my pages while I was court reporting away. So I finally called AT&T and an hour and 20 minutes later I had washed a load of towels, unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, wiped down the kitchen and I also painted my fingernails and talked to "Lynn" in India with the end result that a tech is coming to my house on Monday to switch us over to U-verse for our internet because my problem is caused by too much congestion on the DSL line. Doesn't that just sound like BS they tell the customer and not really what the deal is? At this point I don't care. I actually have time to fix a drink while the Dis is loading. It's like dial up without the fun sound. That goodness for my iphone for at least keeping up with email and all that.

Jack, here's one for you! An attorney out of TX, Mark Muller, carries around a bear with him. Wizard Bear, Esq. Mr. Bear, Esq. has his own business card. Also when counsel went around the table and introduced themselves for the record this guy introduced himself AND the dang bear. I was in the ladies with my client and I was begging her to pass the witness to the bear when she was done with her questions, but she wouldn't do it. :snooty: Spoil sport. I also wanted to put the bear on the appearance page under also present, but my mom said no. :rotfl: In case you ever need an associate in Texas may I recommend Wizard Bear, Esq?! He even has his own Facebook page. On the one hand this is serious litigation and should be taken seriously. On the other hand, there's a dang bear on the conference room table, and he has a business card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll properly respond to Lauren's message when I get more time , however I just had to share the following. My friend's parents are on a tour of Italy. They left last Tuesday but flights were messed up and arrived in Rome a day late. Their luggage still hasn't made it. They're told that it should catch them in Venice tomorrow (sigh Venice). They have been buying and borrowing clothes together through. They are not traveling with friends
Needless to say this is not an ABD tour. Can you imagine? This must give Matt the heebie jeevies
.

I have a whole collection of bear items in my office. My treasured collection, however are three baseball bats and a 5 gallon ceramic Starbucks coffee mug. Just because. . . and just for emergencies.

Still sending good job thoughts your way.

The very idea of the snail parents and snail children observing your internet made me :rotfl: Hope you're back up to speed.

I have to admit that at first I thought it was a REAL bear. I was trying to imagine the real bear sitting on the conference room table. Bears aren't that nice, so I was also trying to visualize how that was going to work out.

I thought it was a real bear too -- which I was all over for the guy having a real bear that he carried around. I will say that Jack doesn't carry around any of the "treasured" items he mentioned.

Good thoughts to Jeri. Is Charlotte here yet?

I hope AT&T got your internet straightened out. What a huge pain!

I love the idea of you doing personalized scrapbooks. What would you think you would charge for something like that? Some people may want to send different photos than the CD

This is the exact nightmare I have! :( Hope they are all settled now!

I've got bears too. But none of them have their own business cards! Is it the baseball bats that are for emergencies, or the 5 gallon Starbucks coffee mug! ;)

He wasn't a real bear, but he did wear an outfit. At first I thought we were going to do a thing like with Duffy where he was going to take the bear's photo and text it to his kids or something, which would be totally cool. But then the bear was put on the conference room table and introduced for the record. I may or may not have choked a bit on my Coke when that happened. :cutie:

So the AT&T guy came out and spent four hours on my telephone line and we had some fun talk about living in the historic district just makes trying to do anything SUPER FUN! But he finally got me hooked up with something called U-verse. That I still can't obtain internet speeds that are cheetah fast, but I have reached the level of rabbit so I'm pretty happy with that. Sadly, I don't think we will ever be streaming too much of anything in this house. Happily I can now watch Dustin's videos on You Tube though so that Pete doesn't fire him and withdraw his love and affection. That kid's got some real talent. I like him on the Podcast too.

The problem with charging for the photo books is that, believe it or not, there is an actual legal thing that comes with scrap products that says you will not use these products in any way to make money. Unless you buy the commercial version, which costs more and I didn't buy. So it would have to be more of a out of the goodness of my heart kind of thing, which my heart is big but that might be an ocean! :rotfl:

Charlotte news: Sister is going in to the hospital tonight and they are going to do whatever it is they do to encourage Charlotte to come out and play with us, so I should have her to hug to pieces by tomorrow at some point. :hyper: I'm leaving tomorrow late afternoon after my job and late enough to miss the Atlanta traffic hopefully :drive:. I've spent this afternoon charging the camera and cooking up a few days worth of meals to take up there for them in the cooler.

Jeri news: Is not good. Trane decided to go with another candidate. Because they are crazy. It hasn't been enough time yet for the grapevine to work its way down here to find out any more details. Jeri is so down about this. I've tried being positive, but he just really, really wanted this job. I offered to kill the job stealer and feed him to the gators, but Jeri said to put that plan on the back burner for now. I try to remember that this just means this job wasn't for him and that there is something better around the corner that we don't know about yet. But, man, is that hard.

Lauren, tell Jeri his job is out there but in the meantime it still stings, boy does it ever. :grouphug:

It looks like my next task is to write a book. I just finished a 100 page brief so a picture book should be a breeze, right?

I didn't have time to find this photo when you mentioned your deposition experience, but what I pictured when I saw your post was this fellow. All he needs is a bear stein.

Lauren,
I know you're really excited to finally meet Charlotte. You're such a great sister --cooking and delivering food. Wishing you an easy trip.

Four hours is way too long to spend with an Internet provider. I'm glad they got it working.

I ABSOLUTELY would have choked (or spit) coke all over the place if I met with an attorney who travelled with a stuffed bear-- with a business card, and clothes. Did he ( the bear) have a briefcase? That is really, really odd. I just wonder how that began. It would be hard to take him seriously after that.

I'll be content with knowing that it is possible to have a beautiful scrapbook like yours. It was so nice of you to share the process with all of us.

Not too long ago, I applied for a job that I REALLY wanted. I didn't get it and still mourn it a bit. However if I look at it logically now, it is for the best that I didn't get it. Still hurts though. Jeri will find a job that's even better for him. Trane doesnt know what they're missing.

P.s. my friends parents now have one of their suitcases. They are still waiting on her Mother's case.... I guess I would have a lot of new Italian clothes by this point, assuming they make anything above the Chica size ( or whatever it's called )

Heather,

That is a great story. I just love reading your "Foodie Tales"

And, I think seafood will be on the menu for dinner tonight :)

:( Sorry to hear about Jeri and the "Trane wreck"

I'm sure they'll be regretting their decision

:surfweb: I subscribe to a lot of newsletters, both about Italy and not. In today's inbox was this:

How can we not go back -

Italy is at the top of my list of places to spend more time. 2014 sounds good to me!

Charlotte is here and perfect! Happy Auntie!! Photos to follow

Congratulations!!! Looking forward to pictures.

I'm so sorry about Jeri's job disappointment. This moment of back to the drawing board sucks, but I know some fantastic opportunity will be his.
