Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. Facebook is frustrating these day, but I accept it as part of my Freedom.

Not to get political but the claims aren't totally accurate.
Much ado was made on Faux, that Honey Boo Boo beat Clinton. In reality, Honey Boo Boo tied with The Democratic convention coverage of Clinton on one network, CNN. Honey Boo Boo beat the Democratic convention coverage on CNN in the 18-49 group. However, if you add all the networks coverage of the convention, and CNN wasn't the top rated of these, Bill Clinton drew 10 times the viewers that Honey Boo Boo did. He also beat the second half of the football game and Ryan the next to last night of the Republican convention too. Last week, much the same gotchas went out regarding the Republican Convention. Again, Honey Boo Boo beat CNN. But this time it also beat Fox and any single network's coverage. But if you add up all the networks covering, the Republican convention again out drew Honey Boo Boo fairly substantially.

DH and I are polar opposites when it comes to politics. To save arguments (and our marriage  ) I just "hide" his posts and then I don't have to see it and I have told him to do the same. Easy and saves fussing.

POLAR opposite in my household, too. It's not easy:rolleyes1 but hey, it's never boring around here either!!

Here's to NOV and "may the odds be ever in your favor"

Saw this and thought about this thread! :rotfl:

Really nice thing to say about a little girl!!!! That comment is shameful. Obviously from your picture you are a mother how would you feel is someone said something so hateful and mean about your little girl? I can never for the life of me understand why someone would find pleasure in insulting a child.
I didn't "find pleasure" in saying that - I was just stating a fact & I would say it over & over again with a clear conscience because those Boo Boo people are the definition nasty white trash & I would fully expect someone to say that about me & my son if we lived our lives as they do.

That's great except for most of the political posts on Facebook that I see aren't discussion. They're put-downs and often outright lies about whichever side they don't agree. And if you dare to post opposing opinion or a correction, watch out! You'll be called everything from a heathen to a Nazi.

If people want to discuss, I'm all for it. But I won't be insulted, or in one spectacular instance, have my children threatened because I have a differing political opinion.

For those of use who are really annoyed when Facebook is used as a bully pulpit from which to distribute yellow journalism and propaganda, but want to see the posts on our friends' lives, make those people close friends, then hide them from your news feed. You'll get their notifications in thumbnail, so you can pick through and find the ones you want to read. It's really easy to filter out the baloney this way!

That should be plastered on every billboard in every city. Hard to believe people just float around, clueless about what is happening in the REAL world.

Just because some people don't rant on rave on facebook it means they're clueless? Wide brush there, don't ya think?

Look, I enjoy discussing politics and letting my viewpoint be known on my facebook page (phors can attest to that!), but some people, for reasons all their own, don't want to be involved in political discussions.

That is their right and I would never say they are "clueless about what is happening in the "real" world". Their "real world" is everything around them. If that doesn't include politics, then it doesn't.

Funny that I saw this today. I have been going through this as well.

I have no problems or issues with a discussion about politics. This is not what is happening. I have hidden my posts from family members because he and I are polar opposites politically and if I post anything, he posts something that insinuates that I am stupid and ignorant for my beliefs. AND THIS IS A SIBLING.

the last straw was last night, I smelled a skunk as a got into bed and posted EWWW, skunk. I woke up to a reply (not from my sibling)that tolf me the smell was actually from the convention. so I posted this as my status:

I think the same rules should apply to FB as my family gatherings... No discussions of politics, religion or football. There is no middle ground for some and no good can come of it. These are things people hold very dear and take very personally so please refrain from mentioning it on my FB page.

Yep, it's proof that we're doomed!! I can understand someone skipping Convention coverage for the Giants/Cowboys game (absolutely!) but to watch that nasty little white-trash girl? REALLY?

I don't care for the show but that sentiment is pretty ugly. ::yes::
