Your coffee mug is adorable! I love it!
The Crystal Palace is a favorite of ours as well! Love that place!
Thanks! I can't wait to use it at work!
Oh my....how unacceptable!! So glad you had no reaction, but sounds like what Dr. Vu calls oral allergy syndrome. Not sure if its a real allergy or not yet. But my 10 year old daughter Heidi has that with apples and carrots. In fact, before our August Disney trip.. a couple weeks ago, Heidi had her 10 year annual physical with our regular doctor. We asked about the fruit and veggie issue and she said we could do a blood test that screens for allergies. We agreed (well, I did, Heidi screamed). When we got back from our trip, there were several urgent messages from our doctor's office (why didn't they call my cell? ) asking to call to talk about Heidi's test results. I called immediately, and spoke to the nurse... the doctor is out of town. The nurse said the results showed that Heidi is highly allergic to peanuts!! We were shocked, since peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are something she eats several times a week and NEVER had a reaction to them. My favorite stand-by chocolate chip cookie recipe that I've been making for decades has peanut butter in it. she loves them and never had a reaction. The test results also showed mild allergy to wheat, soy, coconut, corn and oats... again... primarily what she eats all the time.. the only staple of her diet that didn't come up allergic is dairy. The nurse said to immediately follow up with a pediatric allergist. I called my friend Lori whose son has a life threatening peanut allergy and asked about her doctor. We have an appointment with Dr. Vu on the 28th of August. How I know about the oral allergy syndrome is that my friend Lori has that with all tree fruits and that's what Dr. Vu told her. My husband has a gastric intollerance for bell peppers, but nothing else, and I"m lactose intollerant, but not allergic to anything except weeds. I'm in heaven at Disney because I can enjoy flowers and plants and a weed dare not pop in!!
I'll let you know what the doctor says about Heidi's supposed peanut allergy. I'm so worried because the nurse and the printed test results said to avoid all peanuts until we see the specialist. My husband..he's not a worrier..and let her have grilled chicken satay at Cheng's the other day when we went for DD24's birthday. Its the ONLY thing on the menu she'll eat! Its marinated in the peanut satay sauce, but she didn't dip it in the peanut dip because its too spicy. But again, she had a reaction.
I had no idea they could just do a blood test. When I was younger I had the tests where they scratched your skin and put the allergens on it. But I had no food allergies then. I'll have to talk to my doctor about it. I wanted to ask for an epipen in case, but I'd rather see if these allergies are in my head or real. I seem to react to almonds, some nuts, peaches, cherries and seafood.
