The good, the bad, and the crowded July - Update: August 23

Phew!! Glad to hear you didn't react to the nuts! Sounds like a smooth start to your trip! Looking forward to more!

As usual, the bus ride was not comfy. Why? Well because the A/C was making it freezing! How can someone survive that? It was aweful. We were thankful to be able to get off that bus and into the warmth of Florida.

So totally agree! Our first bus ride we were very excited that the bus was cool....it felt good after rushing around traveling. But by the second day and beyond we couldn't believe how cold they had them!

I'm finally here!!:cool1:
Sooo glad the nuts didn't cause a problem, especially on your first day! Would not be a good way to start things of! :upsidedow

At times it hurt my body, it was so cold!

I want a Ghiradellis dinner now! Glad you didn't have a reaction to the nuts!

Tell me about it. I really want to eat a caramel sundae but they don't sell the caramel in a jar at DD anymore.

I'm finally here!!:cool1:

I know. It was so weird it was only in the middle. As if the person started putting nuts then read no nuts and was like well I'll just stop now. What the hell?

Signing up.
It seems you guys had a fun, relaxing start for your trip. Dinner at Ghirardellis seems like an awesome idea.

We decided to end the night with a visit to the “World of Disney” store. It was a mad house in there too. We looked a bit, but felt a bit overwhelmed with the crowds. So we decided to come back another time.
As we made our way to the bus stop, we noticed a bus was there. So we decided to make a run for it. We made it on time and soon were at Pleasure Island, and then at our resort. It was great to finally be the first stop since when you go to DD from the CR, you stop at the Polynesian first. Shouldn’t the perk of staying at a deluxe that you don’t have to share busses?
We made it safely back to the resort. It had been a long day, but what a day. I waited to see the Electrical Water pageant and then went to sleep. Let’s just say that it didn’t take too long for me to fall asleep.

Here are the days purchases:

Sorry about the first pic. I rotated it in photobucket but it won't appear that way.

July 16, 2012

We woke up a bit later than expected, but all was well. This morning we were going to eat breakfast at the Crystal Palace. We all got dressed one after the other. 3 Adults sharing one bathroom is not always easy. I also went to the gift shop to buy a little plastic pouch that they sell for pin trading. I bought one a few trips ago and it lasted for about 4 or 5 trips. I use it to keep my room key and the photopass card. I wanted to step out of the elevator on the 4th floor, but the door opened a few inches and then stopped. Thank goodness I wasn’t alone. A man tried to open the door, but as he did that, it kind of reset the door and we were on our way to the first floor. As we stepped out, I went to the front desk to tell them what had happened. They were going to take care of it. They must have checked it or something as I did use it later that day and everything was fine. When everyone was ready we made our way to the Magic Kingdom. I love getting to walk to the park using the path. As we got to security, we encountering our first tour groups…. There were at least 4 of them. Oh boy, the Magic Kingdom was going to be crowded.

Ahhh I love that mug! I wanted it so badly, I searched high and low for it, but I never found it. Then again, I never went to Downtown Disney. :headache:

Uh oh, tour groups. Hooray for Crystal Palace though!

Our reservation was at 10 am, and we arrived at 9:50am. We checked-in and had to wait a few minutes before we were seated. We were soon led to our table which this time was on the left side of the restaurant. We had only been there once, and we sat on the right side. In case you were wondering, both sides are mostly identical. We once again got a seat in the middle almost underneath the friendship banner. Our server was Franki, and he was from Orlando. He didn’t strike me as a guy from Orlando though. He reminded me of a Jersey guy (which is not negative) since he spoke like the Cake Boss. He brought us coffee, juice, cola and water. He told us to stay put for a few minutes as Eeyore and Winnie were coming by soon, but that after that to just take our time. At one point of the meal he told us to relax and take our time like superstars. Hum ok? Lol

Cudly Eeyore came by, was cute as always and we took some pics.

Then Winnie came and hugged us all. He’s a hugger. Everytime I say or think about the word hugger I think about the Christmas “Pier 1” commercial. Remember, with the penguin? (Careful, I’m a hugger. Ta-dah!)

hehe We then made our way to the yummy buffet. My mom and I were both dying to eat the puffed French toast again and were still pleased with it. I always tried the breakfast lasagna. Very sweet, but yummy. It’s pound cake with bananas, strawberries, caramel and other stuff. Good! Then it was Tiger that came by and posed with us. And finally it was Piglet. And even though he’s not our fave character, he’s the one we took a family photo with. Why? Well because the handler asked if we all wanted a pic together. Since she offered, well we said yes. All in all, it was a very good breakfast. It was a good experience and we are all looking forward to going back in the future.

Here are a few more pics I took of the inside.

I love that Crystal Palace breakfast. We are doing it for the 4th time this trip! At least this time, our ADR is at 10am and not at 8:05am like we normally do! Too early!

Your coffee mug is adorable! I love it!

The Crystal Palace is a favorite of ours as well! Love that place! :thumbsup2

Well in the middle of my sundae I realized that there were nuts. And that realization came as I chewed a handful of them. I had asked for no nuts as I am allergic. As soon as I realized that I went to see if I could get a replacement. The guys were really apologetic and fixed me a new one right away. While I waited I drank a few glasses of water, hoping to avoid an allergic reaction. I got my replacement sundae and ate some. I had no allergic reaction. It’s mostly a nut intolerance that makes my throat scratchy, but my doctor said to avoid nuts in order not to develop a stronger allergy. So I was glad to be ok.

Oh my....how unacceptable!! So glad you had no reaction, but sounds like what Dr. Vu calls oral allergy syndrome. Not sure if its a real allergy or not yet. But my 10 year old daughter Heidi has that with apples and carrots. In fact, before our August Disney trip.. a couple weeks ago, Heidi had her 10 year annual physical with our regular doctor. We asked about the fruit and veggie issue and she said we could do a blood test that screens for allergies. We agreed (well, I did, Heidi screamed). When we got back from our trip, there were several urgent messages from our doctor's office (why didn't they call my cell? :confused3) asking to call to talk about Heidi's test results. I called immediately, and spoke to the nurse... the doctor is out of town. The nurse said the results showed that Heidi is highly allergic to peanuts!! :scared: We were shocked, since peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are something she eats several times a week and NEVER had a reaction to them. My favorite stand-by chocolate chip cookie recipe that I've been making for decades has peanut butter in it. she loves them and never had a reaction. The test results also showed mild allergy to wheat, soy, coconut, corn and oats... again... primarily what she eats all the time.. the only staple of her diet that didn't come up allergic is dairy. The nurse said to immediately follow up with a pediatric allergist. I called my friend Lori whose son has a life threatening peanut allergy and asked about her doctor. We have an appointment with Dr. Vu on the 28th of August. How I know about the oral allergy syndrome is that my friend Lori has that with all tree fruits and that's what Dr. Vu told her. My husband has a gastric intollerance for bell peppers, but nothing else, and I"m lactose intollerant, but not allergic to anything except weeds. I'm in heaven at Disney because I can enjoy flowers and plants and a weed dare not pop in!!

I'll let you know what the doctor says about Heidi's supposed peanut allergy. I'm so worried because the nurse and the printed test results said to avoid all peanuts until we see the specialist. My husband..he's not a worrier..and let her have grilled chicken satay at Cheng's the other day when we went for DD24's birthday. Its the ONLY thing on the menu she'll eat! Its marinated in the peanut satay sauce, but she didn't dip it in the peanut dip because its too spicy. But again, she had a reaction.
