OFFICIAL Disney Cake Chatter Thread - Part III

We just returned on Monday night from a fabulous 10 day trip. Wanted to say thanks to all for the helpful information on this thread. I ordered two cakes on this trip. One for my oldest DD to celebrate her recent high school graduation and another for my youngest DD to celebrate her recent 14th birthday. Both cakes were beautiful and the girls loved them. If I can figure out how to post pics, I will. The only negative (and I hate to be negative) was that this past Tuesday morning, I got a phone call from Chase regarding my Disney Visa card about a transaction that someone in Orlando tried to use my card for. Luckily for me, Chase didn't put the transaction through but I had to go through the hassle of cancelling the card, etc. I'm just bummed because the only place I gave that number out to was the GF bakery for one cake and the BC club bakery for the other cake when I ordered them over the phone...didn't use that card at all for anything else. Not going to let this get the best of me though as I have ordered a cake in the past and never had this happen before. Going to try and figure out how to post the pics.

I just ordered an Ariel cake from Pat to be delivered to Ohanas' on Sun. Sept. 9. It is chocolate cake w/dark chocolate mousse filling. Sounds sooo yummy I will post a picture when we return from our vacation.

I also ordered 4 chocolate slippers for breakfast that morning at Cinderella's Royal Table.

I have a question regarding the gratuity though. When I tip at the restaurant does it go to the server or will Pat and the people that made the slippers received some or all of it?

I'm not asking if I should tip or how much to tip just want to make sure it gets to the people I would like it to go too and yes I will be tipping the server as well.

If they do not get part of the tip I want to make sure there is a way for me to get them something because after seeing the picture on this thread I am sure it is going to be gorgeous. Which leads me to my second question if the tip goes to the server how would I get something to Pat and the bakery where the slippers are made? They have been so wonderful to work with I want them to know how much I appreciate them and how super excited we are.

I ordered it from the Beach Club (dealt with Yvette) and had it delivered to our room. They did a very nice set up including a ton of balloons. The price was $237 and the cake was really good. The kids snacked on it all week.

Does anyone have a picture of the slipper dessert?? It's our first time taking DD5 to WDW and I really want to get her a special dessert for her birthday. I also need a cake for DH, too.

How does it work? We're doing CRT for breakfast, so don't really want a cake there. We're also eating at Captain's Grill, Ohana, GF Cafe, Portobello, Cape May cafe and Happily Ever After Dinner at GF. I don't want a regular cake but nothing too $$ either. It only needs to feed 4. I would love a princess one for DD5. Do I just call the restaurant directly? Someone give me the 411 please

The Cinderella slipper dessert is different at Cinderella's Royal Table than elsewhere. It comes in white or dark chocolate and looks like this:

We'll be meeting up with friends late in the evening after we return from the parks, it'll be around their first wedding anniversary and we'd like to surprise them with a cake delivered to our resort either to the food court or our room.

We check in to AoA on September 29th (a Saturday) and will be meeting up with them that night. Will they deliver it to my room sometime after check in? What if I have to check in when we return from the parks and had it ordered for room delivery? It almost seems the food court is our best option, but does anyone know when that closes? Any help or info appreciated!

You do have to be checked in for them to deliver it, but they seemed pretty flexible on the time when I ordered mine for AOA room delivery. I want mine to show up just before I get back from IllumiNations, and they had no problem setting the delivery time for 9pm.

I happened to see from another poster (can't even tell you where I found this!) a small mickey head shaped cake in what looked like to be the bottom shelf of the Boardwalk Street Bakery dessert case but it had the ddp or snack credit emblem next to it. Is it possible that there is a small version of the Mickey head cake that's offered on the dining plan?

You can use a snack credit for the individual Mickey head cake at the Boardwalk Bakery!

And sometimes you'll find them in the dessert cases at other resorts as well. We saw them at Pop in Jan and one of the early reviews of AoA's food court showed them there as well.

Thanks lurkyloo!! I looked over those posts, but now I'm completely overwhelmed. For DD, I want a princess-themed cake that is small- either the mini one, a two-tiered, or a 6". Can I get any of those 3 sizes with a fancy princess theme, like pink fondant with a castle on top or something?

My first task is to figure out if we want the cake for dessert at one of our ADRs or delivered to our room. I'll start there and try calling the cake hotline.

Thanks for the pix of the slipper desserts. I think that would be way too much chocolate for a 5 yr old at the end of the day!! LOL

Depends on how much you like cake! I think they are big enough to share but some people eat it all!

Once you figure out where you want the cakes delivered, use the phone number for the appropriate park/resort in Post #2—that will take you directly to the person you need to talk to. Post #2 also tells you whether or not a fancy cake can be ordered at that location. (If they do fancy, they also do mini).

In general, if you want elaborate decorations you will be told you must get an 8- or 10-inch cake, but it really depends on the location, so it's best to speak with someone there.
