SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Information & Questions

I am checking in the 20th but will be flying in on the 19th to stay at RP at US for one night. I probably won't check in until after dinner. We are renting a van so will most likely eat out of the world. I have been researching some restaurants I want to try. SO far want to eat at Sweet Tomatoes and Seasons 52. Anyone else eating outside the parks? My group of 7 is all over 21 and so dont' have smaller children who might require an earlier dinner. It is so strange that I have not made any ressies in the World. First trip ever not doing that.

Just going to wing it! Let's see what happens! I am commando style for sure so this will be a first for me!

I do plan to do some pool time as well but hmmmm...long range forecast not looking good.. Let's hope for the sun fairy:rotfl:

Can someone help me figure out tickets here ...

Looking for 6-day base tickets, no hopping, etc. The Stars & Stripes tickets are park hoppers with WP&M, correct? So it would be less expensive to get regular price Magic Your Way 6-day base tickets than the S&S? Military Salute tickets will not work due to blackout dates. Are there other options I'm missing?

Thanks.

Yes. S&S include hopping and WPF&M. I believe in your case the reglar MYW tickets will be your best option, either at SoG or at your MWR/ITT office, because they sell them without tax.

You might just check Undercover Tourist and see if they have any specials before you make a purchase, some of theirs include free days sometimes.

Does anyone know anything about an upcoming pool refurbishment at SoG? I saw mention of it on another board by someone planning an October trip, but no details as to dates, etc.

Thanks,
Pam

I saw something posted about this on their Facebook page, I will see if I can find it. It was posted on Aug 3.

The Magnolia Pool will be undergoing a major reconstruction this fall and they will be adding a Splash Pad and slide in Spring 2013

The pool refurbishment info is also on the SOG website, so if you want info it's listed there.

Thanks, I found it. We have 3 poolside rooms Christmas week. Wonder how this will affect that? We have 5 pre-teen/teen boys in our group who swim in any weather.

They are only closing the quiet Magnolia pool now, but the Millpond or Mickey Mouse pool will be open. They said they would never close both pools at once. So you will have at least one pool to use.:goodvibes

You don't really HAVE a choice at night. IF the restaurant is open late that will be your only choice.

personally, I'd go to the AAFES and get something there. :)

Thank you Buffettgirl. What does AAFES have for sale that would work for a dinner? I haven't been there in two years and only remember them having boxes of cerel or crackers, cookies, milk, items like that.

How late are you arriving? We had the dinner buffet at the Garden Grill each night and didn't think it was too bad at all. I think the latest we ate was 8pm though. You could always walk over to the Poly too.

We should be there 7 to 7:30 at the lastest. So you must have enjoyed the dinner buffet at the Garden Grill? Was the food really good or was it the convience of it being on property? Thank you Emksmama for suggesting this and any thought you have on my questions.

Isn't cereal, chips and cookies an exceptable dinner options when your on vacation?! :rotfl:

Maybe Aafes has PB&J fixins or maybe you could bring some stuff like microwaveable soups or oatmeal or something like that which would be quick and easy if your super tired.

rofl. that's exactly what I was thinking, all of which I'd pick before eating dinner in the restaurant(s).

Does AAFES carry cases of bottled water? We have car and can stop at local supermarket but would be more convenient getting it there?

oops that reminds me.. what is bottled water now in parks? Last time I was there it was Aquafina cannot drink tap water in restaurants or parks. I find it very distasteful.
hmmm maybe I should just stick with BEER:rotfl:

I don't recall seeing cases of bottled water. It's not a BIG giant AAFes, just a small hotel store (with a few more food items than normal) - and better prices.

I did see this though, http://www.militarydisneytips.com/Tickets/Orlando-ITT-Ticket-Office.html and since we've never had a car before I never knew about it. I wonder if it's a LOT cheaper and more convenient to stop there for water and other food items?

Has anyone stopped?

oh YEAH!! how many in your party?
We are total of 7...4 parents two 21 year olds and two 22 year olds.

I suspect we will be at the bar alot???

LOL

There are 6 of us in my party. My sister and nephew, my parents, and my DBF and I who are in our 30s. :goodvibes

Does anyone think they will ever offer the Disney Dining Plan to Shades of Green guests or am I just wishful thinking?? :)
I thought that one time quite a while back I saw something about that being discussed but I guess it never came about...
