30 pounds by Oct, who's with me??

Did my official weigh in this morning and lost 2.5 lbs this week. I am down a total of 11 lbs in 6 weeks. I have 7 more weeks before our trip and if I can keep pace and be down around 25lbs total that would be wonderful!

I actually like the fitness pal app, cant figure out how my exercise and calorie goal balance out but using it anyway. keeps telling me I need to eat my goal or I will go into starvation mode....:confused3 but I thought we needed a negative calorie intake to lose weight....

I set my goal at 1600 calories today. I don't think you'd ever want it to come out negative or it could be unhealthy. It just adds up the calories you eat and subtracts the calories you burn to give you your "net calories". I actually just set my goal and I try to keep my food calories under that goal. I record my exercise for my own records but don't make up those burned calories with food.

To set my goal, I went about a week of trying to eat what I was eating normally. I'm sure I ate a little less as I was conscious of counting those calories, but it was a decent start. I then looked up how many calories was recommended for my age, height, weight, gender and etc (I used the one here http://www.kriskris.com/how-many-calories-should-i-eat-a-day/). It said I would need to intake 1435 daily to lose a pound a week. I plan to work my way down to a goal of 1435. After 1600 isn't painful, I'll decrease to 1500 or 1550, etc and just work my way down.

I actually had a great time and was down a lpound by Thursday, but my daughter had a softball tournament this weekend, and I didn't eat as good as I had the rest of the week, and then I twisted my ankle Saturday morning so didn't work out Saturday or Sunday as I was hurting and today I had gained 1.3 pounds. :(

But I was able to walk 3 pounds this morning and I'm back on track with my food. No softball tournaments for a couple weeks, and I think that will be enough motivation for me to make sure I do better next time.

I didn't weight this morning, but I am proud to say that I got up at 530am and worked out before going to work. I actually feel really good. It really helped me to wake up and have a lot more energy then my normal 630 wake up. I just did some cardio and body weight things, but I did it out side in the 500% humidty we had this morning, so I did a TON of sweating!!!

I can really relate to these stories as well! I had two babies in two years plus a couple of years of not so healthy eating prior to my last two pregnancies due to a variety of factors.. I am happy to say that it has been 2 years of strict calories counting, weight watchers, and now my own modified diet and am down 102 pounds.. I have ten more pounds to go before I am back to my weight before I had my 10 year old son. I hope to have that 10 pounds lost before we go to Disney in October. I am finding this last ten pounds to be harder than the rest! Good luck everyone!

Wow!! Congrats! That's quite an accomplishment. Way to go you!

I had my 2 week weigh in this morning and was again only down 2 lbs in 2 weeks. Bringing my 8 week weight loss to 12.2lbs. I'm trying to not get discouraged by the slower pace. My BF, who is following the same exercise/restricted calories has lost about 25lbs in 8 weeks. He's afraid he's losing weight too fast, but man, I'd take a 2lb+/week loss. :rolleyes2

I am hoping aboard. I need to lose about 40lbs. I had 3 high risk pregnancies and was put on bed rest. Now a while later I still can't lose the weight. I need some help.

Thank you!! Dieting is really hard work, isn't it? But congratulations to you as well! 12.2 pounds is in 8 weeks is awesome! As they say, "slow and steady wins the race!" Honestly, I after about the 1st 6 weeks, I was only losing 1 pound, sometimes 1/2 pound per week... That's great progress! My husband just started a diet and lost 12 pounds the first week! I am so happy for him, but also jealous! It would take at least 12 weeks to lose 12 pounds.. :woohoo:

I understand completely! I was in the same boat. I was on bed rest for all of my pregnancies. I gained so much weight with all of them. Baby weight so tough to lose. Have you tried weight watchers? I have tried so many diets over the years, and weight watchers is the only one that was realistic for me.. Though I must say, I prefer the original Weight Watchers plan to the new one... I lost 4 pounds the first week, 3 pounds the 2nd, and then 2 pounds per week for about a month and then it was 1 pound a week for the duration. It takes time, but it really does work! Oh, and I don't go to the gym either.. (Bad, I know).. I just don't have time. With a full time job, 3 kids (2 of which are under 4), and a husband that works nights, it just doesn't work right now. Weight Watchers works even if you don't lift weights. I run around after my children all day long and get 30 minutes of cardio a few times a week and that's it. Good luck to you! :yay:

Oh, can I join in? I'm half way to my goal of 16 pounds by mid October. I feel like I've hit a plateau, can't seem to move from the weight I'm at. I've been at the same weight for almost 3 weeks now. :confused3

I am in the same boat right now. I would like to lose 10 more pounds by mid October and am stuck. I have been dieting for 2 years and along the way have hit many plateaus.. Have you tried lowering your calorie intake by a little each day for a week? Also, how much water do you drink a day? I have cut my calories down by 100 per day and added two more glasses of water.. I am hoping to see a pound gone at the end of the week! Let me know if you find something that works and i will let you know if this does the trick. It's very frustrating, isn't it?:sad2:

Have you tried having a "blow it" day? I've alway found that when I'm stuck, especially after I've been dieting awhile and my metabolism has slowed, taking a day to shock my system can work wonders. The couple who runs our local Wellness classes recommends it when you get stuck. Remember, it's only one day, but go out and eat whatever you want. Go enjoy a Chinese buffet, or eat a few brownies, etc - enjoy something you love that you've been depriving yourself. Don't go too crazy b/c you'll definitely feel it the next day (you'll be starving), but it is an option to kick start your metabolism. Whenever I did this in the past, I always lost at least 3 pounds that week. Good luck!

In the past, I've done that... when I just chose to go off my diet... like a holiday weekend with family and friends, lots of food and beer! But... that always caused a temporary weight gain.

With the Take Shape for Life program's initial weight loss phase, I'd eat 5 Medifast meal replacements and 1 "lean and green" meal of a lean protein and 3 low-carb vegetables. This is eating 6 times a day. This helps to keep my blood sugar and insulin levels even, and that helps to control cravings. In the past, I'd drink coffee all morning and not even eat anything until 11 or 12 noon. Then I'd eat a huge lunch because I was starving...... This is why many people suggest eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.

I can say with certainty from my experience and others'... that eating smaller portions, more frequently and evenly throughout the day... results in faster weigh loss. I still do that. I eat within 1 hour of waking up, then I eat something every 2 to 3 hours.

Didn't want our precious thread to get too far gone (oh my it was on page 2!) so I'm giving it a bump. I've lost another half pound, not even enough to change my weight lost ticker. Hoping to get that other half this weekend so I can see some movement. How's everyone else doing?

I have gotten way off course this past week. Still eating my fruits and veggies, but also had some ice cream, McDonalds fries, and a lot of bread. I have got to get myself back on track. I have been exercising everyday, but making the wrong food choices. I MUST GET BACK ON TRACK !!!

I slipped today too. Had 2 greasy pieces of pizza. Dread to see the scale tomorrow. We will do better!

Guess I exercised enough yesterday that I lost 1/2 lb. in spite of the pizza pig out :-) Can finally move the ticker! Where is everyone?

Finally made it to two Zumba classes this week. My body is aching all over! Lol! That's a good thing though! It's been months since I have done Zumba, or any cardio, and the only exercise I've done this summer is swimming. With the low carb, I'm managing to lose a 1/2lb-1.5 a week, but definitely wanting to tone my muscles and hopefully keep the weightloss going. Hope everyone has a great week! We can do it!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. Lots of people love Zumba and get great results. I'm not one for classes. If I can't do it from home it doesn't happen. Swimming is excellent for toning and fun to boot. Do you do lots of laps? I used to be a swimmer but it's not in the cards for now.
