3 Families doin' a Surf & Turf Trip! AKL CL & Dream...Good-Byes

The lake pic is terrific!!! Looks so peaceful!

I love the cultural safari update! That looks so cool!

What an absolutely beautiful spot! So nice you had a computer free weekend with your family. DH would like one of those too!!! :goodvibes:rolleyes1

Joining in! Love, love, love AKL. I have to stay CL some of these days...I just never plan ahead far enough. ;)

All this talk of AG dolls makes a mom of a 13-year-old a bit sad that those days are long gone.

"Alina" has been packed away in her little box with her Hawaiian and tennis outfits. My favorite was her cat suit with ears and tail for Halloween.

Yes, Jeanette, knows me and all RCs too well, and apparently Heather had an inkling I would change (again:rolleyes1) as well. It would be mighty helpful if you both could just look into your crystal balls and tell me where I'm really going to end-up those first four nights so I don't drive around aimlessly:drive
 Our kiddos grow up too fast

My crystal ball says you may not be doing a split stay....but heather's is clearer than mine...:scratchin

Just got back from a weekend trip to the lake...a last minute thing. As many of you know, I LOVE early mornings when on vacation. Would you believe I forgot my camera??!!:scared1: However I did have my phone and captured this photo....
No laptop.....sounds like a perfect family getaway. Peace & Quiet...

no camera :faint:

I'm curious - was Faith into dolls before she got the AG doll? Willow has never been very into dolls (stuffed animals, yes; dolls, much less), but I love the idea of the AG dolls and would love to get her one (she has a bitty baby that a friend got her when she was about 2, but I don't think that counts ). I'm guessing it is not worth bothering since she isn't very into dolls, but I have to ask! :confused3

Faith has always been somewhat of a doll person...Barbies, Polly Pockets, but not baby dolls. I'm thinking since Sophia isn't the typical "baby doll", it works for Faith. She's more like a friend, if that makes any sense. Maybe you could take Willow to one of the AG stores and see how she reacts. Do y'all have one close by??

My heavens!!!! Look at her!! She almost looks like a doll herself. And now she's all grown up. Kind of bittersweet when you realize your baby is no longer a baby. Save the AG doll....you can give it to your first granddaughter.

Loving your TR. We did AKL just last year and we missed a lot of what you are showing. It is very different when you aren't going to the park. We did one morning swim day and a couple of earlier nights back at the resort to swim. We were there in nov so it wasn't hot which also makes a difference.

I am thinking this year if we stay at BC we might do more midday breaks.

We have finally learned to take advantage of the deluxe resorts, and it is a completely different trip when the parks aren't incorporated.

When your little one is older, yall can try it out....definitely worth doing:thumbsup2

ready for the next installment....popcorn::

You're funny! It will be up tonight for sure...Bill is out of town, so I can work on it without feeling guilty;)

Beautiful picture!

Glad y'all had a nice weekend! :goodvibes

Very nice to do NOTHING!!!! Now I'm super behind on all the threads:upsidedow

My husband would, too! If he could hide his cell phone, that would help!

So glad to have you follow along!:goodvibes

Can you believe that?! What was I thinking??? :confused3

Day 3
Blizzard Beach Part 1

One of the best reasons to book an AKL savannah view……

DSC_5797.jpg

It’s hard to capture the beauty of the savannah in a picture…is just doesn’t do it justice. Sipping coffee on the balcony and watching the sun rise is priceless.

DSC_5800.jpg

And surprisingly enough, I was like the ONLY person on the balcony (that I could see)….I found that odd….people just don’t know what they are missing! Maybe I’m the odd one?????:rolleyes1

DSC_5803.jpg

It was very cool to watch the CMs distribute the animals’ food to the different locations. Many of the feeders were camouflaged making it appear that the animals were eating the trees or eating the vegetation on the ground.

DSC_5804.jpg

By this time, the kids were awake and ready for Blizzard Beach…..but not before taking a sneak peek of the animals. FYI…..don’t forget your binoculars!!!!

DSC_5807.jpg

The kids were completely enthralled each morning. This view was well worth the extra money spent... IMO.....maybe not Bill's

DSC_5806.jpg

After a peaceful breakfast in the lounge, we headed outside towards the bus area. Being early is top priority!!! ;)

And why did I get a picture of the signage, you ask??? ….because I always find it amazing at how Disney blends a simple sign into the landscape. Disney details are impeccable!!

DSC00430.jpg

There were lots of people gathered for the buses….I was so hoping we wouldn’t be waiting forever since we shared a bus with DHS people. I know this will come as a surprise to you, but I rarely sit at these bus stops…..what if I wasn’t ready to jump on the bus when it stopped??? :confused3

DSC_5828.jpg

In no time, we were on the bus…..first stop…..Blizzard Beach!! Very short trip, by the way…maybe 5 minutes max.

DSC_5830.jpg

Do you notice anything odd about this picture????? There aren’t ANY PEOPLE! Where are they??? I’m thinking the weather kept them away…which was fine with me.

DSC00435.jpg

DSC00436.jpg

Stephen was steady chatting away about Summit Plummet!! We had been hearing about this for months!!!! Needless to say, Faith was done with it…. And I was still uncertain that Stephen would actually go through with it. I was anticipating the 'Walk of Shame' for my first born….

DSC_5831.jpg

We bought tickets at the park....very quick…no lines!!! So far, so good!!

DSC_5832.jpg

The theming is really cool (no pun intended) but almost strange, too. It was just kinda weird to be in a bathing suit and see snow, sleds, and winter wonderland settings….weird in a good way, though.

DSC_5833.jpg

DSC_5835.jpg

We rented a large locker…I think it was around $15. It was plenty of space for my camera, a couple of towels and mom’s bag. They do rent towels, too, but I don’t know how much they were.

DSC_5834.jpg

I noticed that lots of people were taking in coolers, bags and towels. Since I was a complete newbie at Blizzard Beach, I wasn’t aware that you could leave “stuff” by chairs. Not to say that it’s completely safe, but LOTS of people did this.

DSC_5838.jpg

And this is what a newbie I was….I didn’t even realize that the waterparks had rope drop!! Not sure what I was expecting….

And here we go again with this attraction!!! You have no idea just how many times we heard the words “SUMMIT PLUMMET”. Excitement was the understatement for Stephen.

DSC_5839-1.jpg

We all agreed that we would go straight to this slide and let Stephen make an attempt….it gets super crowded later in the day, so don’t wait if this is something you want to try.

DSC_5837-1.jpg

While we were waiting, the crowd started to thicken, but nothing unbearable at all. We got to BB around 8:35am (opened at 9), but I wish we had gotten there just a little bit earlier since it was our first visit.

DSC00438.jpg

Also, we learned that before rope drop, CMs will choose 1 person to be the first down Summit Plummet ….this officially opens the park and then the crowd goes wild!!!!

DSC00439.jpg

Up next….continuation of Blizzard Beach Part 2

Those sunrise pictures are GORGEOUS! Wow! How silly no one else was out there experiencing it! Totally agree that the animal view is worth it. In fact you are doing quite a good job "selling" AKL.

I've never been to the water parks so I wouldn't have known about rope drop or protocol either. :confused3 I do know that summit plummet is more than I care to take on... wondering if Stephen decided to conquer it or not.

Either way, am sure you guys had a great day!!

That is it? After all Stephen's talk about Summit Plummet and you are going to make me wait to see a picture of his going down it?

Can't wait to hear how Stephen did? No one in my family did Summit Plummit but I have done the similar slide at Atlantis and it was pretty intense.

I hope you got their specialty doughnuts at some point- yum!

Gah! Cliffhanger!

Loved the AKL pics. Also, it is really fun to see BB too!

Interesting - Willow does like Barbies, the princess "Barbies," etc., so maybe I should look into this Sophia-type doll. :confused3

:rotfl2: Definitely no AG store near here - we have to travel an hour away just to get to Target!!! :scared1: Have I ever mentioned how much I miss living in a real city? :faint:

I am secretly hoping that Willow will get into AG (despite the cost) because I want to plan a trip to Chicago and the AG store. pixiedust:

Summit Plummet wasn't for me either....I never could muster up the courage to attempt the plunge. The more I watched people zoom down and slowly stand up, the more I realized it was a no-go for this mom!

....until tomorrow :teeth:

:rotfl: What do you think???!!!

Great to see pics of BB...there isn't a whole lot of pics BB. I cannot wait to read more. We plan on going on our next trip and it's great to know what to expect.

The closest AG store to us is Atlanta which is 4 hours away, and it's not a huge store. Faith looked at all the dolls then decided she wanted the 'look-alike' doll. Maybe you can slowly introduce Willow to AG. She would love dressing up the doll in Disney Princess clothes;) I will admit, it is lots of fun despite the cost  I'm already thinking about outfits I can buy the doll for Christmas....maybe one of the Princess dresses:scratchin

:rotfl:

Thanks for joining in!! You won't regret having a day at BB:thumbsup2 Our kids thoroughly enjoyed that day for sure....I would certainly go back in a heart beat.

How was the wifi at AKL? I found it adequate at POFQ, but it would fall off after about an hour or so. Sometimes I could get back on, other times I gave up.

I'll be spending a couple days at BB! Love floating around the water parks.

Yes, curious about the wifi too. It was good at WL last Jan.

No, Summit Plummet isn't for me either :scared1: My more adventurous daughter who was a teen at the time did it.

Loved the family raft ride at BB, and the tube slides. I can float along the lazy river all day, and the pool.

I can't wait to find out if Stephen braved Summit Plummet! We've never done the water parks at Disney, but they really look like fun. Maybe when DD is older we'll take the time.

Roni- we've tentatively planned to do AG in February. February isn't the ideal, time to visis Chicago but....;) Seriously though, I hope you do it, the AG store on Michigan Ave is amazing!
