That's fine, and is basically what the PP said. You can't just stand right at the bottom of the slide when it's in use, but you can stand just to the side and step over to catch your little one when they come down.

Andre

Yep that was what I was trying to say, you can stay to the side. If they shoot out and you can't grab them right away they need to be able to float up or tread water.

A lot of times it will depend on the LG as well, some are more tolerant of where a parent may or may not be waiting to grab a kid.

Hi there! We just booked FQ for a spur of the moment short trip. We had planned to take this year off and wait for our long trip next summer at the Poly, but just couldn't stay away. We were going to book POR as we've stayed there in the past and love it, but decided to go out on a limb and try FQ. We're really excited! :woohoo:We'll be there in early August for just a 5 day trip. Thanks for the great info on this thread!

We are leaning towards this resort - how long does it take on the Disney transportation to get to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom from the hotel?

Hi, I just had to post on this thread tonight because we are now booked for Feb. 11-15. I'm excited to actually see and stay in this smallest of the moderate WDW resorts. It appears to be lovely (except for the food court, which is not my style at all.)

Looking at staying at this resort in May.

Do they still do the fishing activity?

We went to French Quarter this trip in February, and although I've only ever stayed in one other resort (Dixie Landings YEARS ago) this one may forever be my favorite! The beignets were DELICIOUS and the workers were all so friendly! The atmosphere was great and they had tons of "movie in the park" type things where the family could sit together to watch a movie:)

Hi :wave2: After 3 stays at :lovestruc Riverside, I am booking FQ tomorrow for my Jan 2013 trip. I read your first page Andre, I plan on booking a GV room, and requesting building 5 or 2.
My friend i meet up with at WDW is booking her room in FQ, her fav resort. So to make things a tad easier I've decided to give FQ a try!

Its fun to try new resorts, so giving it a try. And if I need a POR fix, it's a quick walk away :rotfl:

Anything I should know to make my stay at FQ enjoyable? I know about the beignets, walked over from POR one morning to get them :good vibes

About 15 minutes from leaving the resort to getting to the park bus stop. Add a bit for waiting for buses and the possibility of other pickups at Riverside (mostly for AK) etc. The AK bus also sometimes stops at Blizzard Beach which adds 5 mins.

Do they still do the fishing activity?

Not at French Quarter, but you can easily walk over to Riverside where they have an old-fashioned fishing hole on Ol' Man Island.

For the mini-fridges - what's the largest size milk you could fit in there? Just trying to figure out what size to pick up beforehand.

And as to recreation, anybody have any experiences with the carriage ride or the kid's Pirate Cruise at POR?

Just booked our 2013 WDW vacation!

We'll be staying at POFQ for the first time.

Have updated my ticker below.

Have requested the time off from work already.

This gives our family something to look forward to. Any recent POFQ guests, please chime in with tips, hints, experiences!

Now I've just got to finish this year's trip report!

Me too :good vibes We booked room only for january with AAA 20% discount. I booked with WDW. Don't need to go thru AAA.
so looking forward to answers too!

Hi all! This will be my first stay at POFQ and I hope that someone can answer my question...do the beignets count as a snack with the Dining Plan? We'd like to have them for breakfast, but we don't want to use a QS meal for it. Otherwise, we'll just do granola bars in the room.

And my apolgies if this is answered somewhere in the thread, I haven't read all the pages yet!!!

Thanks!

Yes, the three-packs do anyway.

Hooray! Thanks, Andre! I can't wait for our stay! Just 153 more days! (Sigh):goodvibes:woohoo:

Does this sound ok? Bldg 5,4 or 2, outside corner room, upper floor?

My first FQ stay. I was a little sad leaving my POR, but starting to get excited about checking out FQ.

Sounds OK to me if you want to be near the center of things and don't need ground-floor access, but it rather depends on your own criteria...
