Where is my FAVORITE DCL cast member?

Is this slight creepy? Almost tantamount to stalking?

Yes it's great to have the same cruise staff or server, stateroom host etc on your next cruise, but actually tracking them down to the ships and when they are on vacation?

Surely as long as you have great service, wouldn't it be good to meet new CM's and if the old ones are aboard say Hi to them?

Creepy? Tracking them down? No, not really. Much of the information is provided BY the cast member themselves. If they do not want you to know when there are on/off the ship, or that they moved to another ship ... they will not say anything. On the other hand, I have booked cruise dates specifically to coincide with a server's schedule ... and servers have been known to extend their contracts, so they can be reunited with previous guests.

Those of us who have sailed more than a dozen DCL cruises have developed relationships with numerous personnel. Many guests communicate with cast members via Facebook ... some guests go on a land-vacation to visit a cast member in their home country (the cast member would not delve into this, if they did not want the guest to visit).

Currently, I send monthly care packages of US chocolate *goodies* to several cast members. They let me know when they are going on vacation, and when they are returning. Their fellow cast members can get extremely jealous when they see the care packages received. Sending a care package is usually GREATLY appreciated ... as it tells the cast member how much they are appreciated. I have had some cast members tell me it makes them feel good - especially when they are so far away from home!

I sailed the Maiden Fantasy, but my Main Dining Room server (since 2008) had been promoted to Palo. I was provided with a list of suggestions (from my former server), which served as the basis for this thread. So, if anyone would like to request a server ... this thread can provide numerous opportunities to select an appropriate cast member (requesting a stateroom host is a different situation).

Having sailed on dozens of cruises, I have had many different servers. Some are OKAY, some are GOOD, while others are FABULOUS. I'd rather opt for a FABULOUS server as opposed to an OKAY server. This thread provides feedback for FABULOUS cast members, and makes it easier for guests to select a FABULOUS cast member. Since many guests tend to TIP generously for extreme service, this thread is tantamount to providing the cast members with more money in their pockets. They way I look at it, this thread is one more way of thanking the cast members for their dedication and service.

You once worked on the ship/ships.....wouldn't it have been nice to know that people were actually looking forward to being on the ship when you were working and looking forward to seeing you again?

I've booked a cruise to see a particular CM and they were very grateful to see us on board and flattered that we booked a cruise just because they were on it.

I can see why some would think it is creepy or stalking. For the cruise staff, servers, bartenders, etc I talk to on and off the ships I usually got to know them on the ships and at the end of the cruise they were usually like "add my on facebook" or back in the day myspace so we can chat or myself and friends I had met would be exchanging e-mails and we would ask if we could have the cm's e-mail, if they wanted to give it out they did and if not they didn't:goodvibes

I get the personal contact and sharing your contract details with a guest, I just meant that maybe that info was given without the knowledge that it would be shared with the many on here. I'm sure that cruise you took to see that CM was greatly appreciated by them and was flattering!
But some guest can be a little more enamoured with the CM that is reciprocated if you get what I mean! lol!
The poor lady that was very upset with the lack of response from an officer is a recent case in point.
I know friendships are made between guests and crew, and didn't mean my post to sound so dismissive or offensive.

Enamoured? Sounds like you are talking about DANIEL (not Javor)! All the ladies seem to want to get their picture taken with Daniel in his whites! :cloud9:

<poor lady> I am not sure I recall that thread. I know I tried to reach out (via FB) to a specific officer whom I have known since 1999 ... to no avail. I do not send more than two messages ... if they do not respond the second time ... I figure they are too busy, do not remember me ... OR ... perhaps they DO remember me, and would like to forget! :headache:

<dismissive or offensive> I do not think anyone was thinking that ... rather ... those of us on this thread love our servers!

Just curious ... has anyone else sent a care package to a crew member? :cheer2:

We had

SERGIO asst SERVER Sept. 2011 Dvc Member Cruise. I requested him for our Dec 2011 Dream cruise. We were pleased he was promoted to SERVER and was our server for that cruise. At that time he was going to the Fantasy. We have our Member cruise this Sept , another Dream Dec 2012 cruise and a 2013 Nov30th Fantasy cruise. Im hoping we can find out where he is to request him.

Sergio was our server last week (sailed June 16th) on the Disney Fantasy. We loved him!! I think someone else posted that it would be helpful to know his home country, so if you need that info to request him, he's from Montenegro.

Sammi from the UK. She was on the Wonder when I went last summer. She was the pin trading girl. My sister and I loved her. Natalie from England. She was the bingo queen on the Magic when I went in 2009 but was the assistant cruise director on the Wonder last summer.

We loved our bartender Nur on the Magic in March 2011. On that cruise he was in Sessions mainly. We were so happy to see that he was still on the Magic during our June 2nd NYC cruise.

Yippee! Nur is a great bartender! Love his wedding cake martini.

I agree :thumbsup2. He was not in Sessions this cruise though - he was in Pinnochio's bar up on deck 9. We liked when we could sit and chat with him in Sessions. He still made great drinks though.

uh oh popcorn::

Anyone know if Vijay is still on the Wonder? We have had him on our last three cruises and I am wondering if he is still around.

We had Sergio in May on the Fantasy. He was great. We are sailing again in August and have requested him. I believe he told us he was getting married so not sure if he'll still be there, but I'm hoping. Yes, he is from Montenegro! He knew that I loved one of the soups so much that he asked for it to be made 3 other nights for me, it was so good. When it wasn't made the second night he asked the cooks to make me something and they threw together a wonderful soup that was very close! Definitly ask for him if you get a chance!

Such a great time- first time cruise too!

Nur, Ravi, Nicko, and Augustine- 95% of the time at Signals in Quiet Cove...if anyone knows of contact info that would be great- would love to keep in touch!

Aaron from India and Angelina from Chile- MDR, love love loved! Aaron's first month, but Angelina was heading home today as well.

Finally- stateroom hostess Sara from Thailand- absolutely wonderful and sweet.

Tisa is also amazing as well- always had great energy!

Annie in palo is great but she's been promoted to hostess (great for her, but sad for us)
Several cruises on the DRem & Magic

I can certainly understand this view and think I shared it prior to cruising on DCL for the first time. The staff will share when they are going on vacation and where they are changing to (ship-wise), so I learned that it's not creepy/stalking.

Now, where I DO agree with you is posting last names (which is not public knowledge unless they were your servers) and trying to track them down on facebook (not adding them as friends as their invite) as some have tried to do with various members of cruise staff. That, in my opinion, is where the line gets crossed.

We had Dinesh and Svetlana on the Wonder in March. My daughter is mad we are going on the Fantasy in 2013 because she wants the same servers. Hoping they transfer to the Fantasy.

Does anybody know if Edward from England is still with DCL? He was a server on the Magic and was then part of the opening team of the Dream.
