Just a quick update with some stuff that didn't quite fit in either the previous chapter or the next one.
One of the fun things about Disney cruises is how people decorate their stateroom doors. The doors are steel, so magnets are a perfect choice. (They've actually banned people from using tape because it was pealing the paint off of the doors).
So a few months before the cruise I started playing around with some designs and got some excellent help/advice/ideas from Rob (GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes). I made the designs in Photoshop then uploaded them to an online printer that put them on magnets for me. From what I gather, there are do it yourself kits for printing on your own magnets, but wanted a big one for the middle of the door, so I went with the professionals.
So, without further ado, here is the finished door:
And the close-ups of the magnets.
(That's Izzy and Skully from Disney Junior's Jake and the Neverland Pirates, for those of you without small children that watch that stuff constantly.)
(Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates)
And finally, the Pièce de résistance (also, the theme to the vacation and title to this Trip Report)
I also whipped up a few for Grandma & Grandpa's stateroom.
Yes, I realize that Grandma did not get a Pirate theme. She's a big Belle fan and I just couldn't bring myself to transform Belle into a pirate wench. (Although it would have been pretty funny)
The DVC member magnets were on the doors when we arrived. Which was a bit odd because I don't recall telling them we were DVC members when I booked. I guess they just cross referenced in their database and put the magnet on for us. Either way - pretty cool.
And finally, I was able to do all of this without the kids (or grandparents) knowing about it. When we first got to the room, I pulled them out and let the kids stick them where ever they wanted on the door (so long as said placement satisfied my OCD compulsion to ensure that they were straight, in line and symmetrical.) We then snuck over and stuck them to grandma & grandpa's door like little pirate ninjas. Which I realize can never happen, because everyone knows pirates and ninjas are mortal enemies. But if Romeo and Juliette can make it work, there's hope for everyone. Except they both wind up dead, so maybe not. Clearly, I'm rambling, which is a sign that I need to wrap this up.
