Could someone please let me know which Long houses have the newer style larger bathrooms with separate water closets?

As far as I know none have separate water closets, just the newer ones have 2 sinks. Tahiti is one of those I do believe.

I have only stayed in Tuvalu and Hawaii, both of those only have one sink.

Wow great photos and info...

We're staying here in May 2013 for our first family WDW visit....My H2B is the only one to have been before & that was when he was 12 nearly 20 years ago & they stayed in a villa)

It looks lovely though I didn't realise how huge it is

Is there a section that is quiet but close to the ceremonial house/monorail etc?

How far does it take to walk to say captain cooks from the furthest longhouse? and to the boat or monorail...panicking now that we are going to be miles away and have 20 minute walks to get a drink or on a boat/bus before the day has even started! :bitelip:

We have gone for a garden view room as our thinking is we will only be in in to sleep and get ready .... so aslong as it's nice we don't really care about the view...but I've also just read that some garden views overlook the carpark.....whilst I'm not that bothered about the view I am bothered about having a car park out of the window ...

Would appreciate any reccomendations on best longhouses and whether we should change to lagoon view or something though I'd rather spend the extra money it will cost on disney things and clothes etc I plan on bringing home.....

our last trip we stayed in tuvalu..which is one of the further away longhouses..and I dont remember the walk to anywhere being more than 5-10 min..and that was with a 4 yr old in tow. Besides the grounds are SO beautiful you really dont mind the walk at all. Its true some of the views face the parking lot, but there is plenty of greenery in between, its not like you would feel cars are parked in you room.
you can get lots of very detailed info here http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/quick-longhouses that may help. and you can request a particular longhouse but its not a guarantee. Personally I feel the same as you that the lagoon view is not worth the extra $$..we were basically in the room to sleep at night, and rarely looked at the view anyway. This time I requested Tokelau (I didnt request anything last time) which is all garden view, but no parking lot views.

sorry, forgot, last nights wishes from our garden view balcony.:thumbsup2

you are very welcome!

There are photos with approx walk times for each longhouse on that site. A lot of that info is probably in this thread, but I figured it would be a lot easier than trying to read a zillion posts :rotfl:

So what's everyone's take on this? Fact or fiction? It seems like Tikiman is highly respected on The DIS...I haven't been following him long enough to know if his precidtions & info are usually spot on or rumor!

I'm 100% sure that it's going to happen, since they have squeezed in DVC at every other deluxe on the property. And Disney is definitely going to do it since it seems like they are making more $ with DVC than anything else these days (just judging by the # of DVC rooms added vs. deluxe rooms in the last 10 years...) Personally, I'm not happy about it since I think that adding more people will make the Poly a much busier place and what I like about it is the low-rise, relaxed atmosphere, as well as the gardens and how everything is spread out a bit. But only time will tell..

Fact. It will happen eventually. But ... I can't imagine they would start another DVC project until GF DVC is done and being sold (2013).

A DVC at Poly would be very popular, if done right.

Hi, Can you imagine how busy the volcano pool will be! We stayed at the Poly in Oct. and really loved it. I think I would consider DVC there. :goodvibes

There is absolutely no way that Disney is not going to build DVC at the Poly - it is now the only monorail resort without and it is one of the most popular resorts on site. While it will inevitably make things more crowded (hopefully they will add another restaurant & pool to help alleviate that) I don't think if they put it over by the luau cove area it will affect the general feel of the resort - it seems like it would be tucked away in the corner by the GF, behind the marina & Figi, and not be intrusive to most of the current resort (especially since looking at those site balloons it would be a fairly low structure - maybe 4 stories?) I also agree that construction probably isn't imminent. I read somewhere that WDW likes to only have two projects on sale at once. An official announcement is likely quite a ways off too. I also read that in order to prevent companies from hyping their projects to prospective buyers (ie. promising future builds that never happen) that there are very strict regulations in FL regarding when a new build can be announced/promoted (probably after construction has already started).

This was tossed around earlier in this thread and everyone knows the main building is in need of replacement. DVC is coming and what I heard last year from a contractor on a bid for major renovation at the POLY to begin fall of 2013 fits what was discussed on tikiman's blog.

I believe Carl posted a picture of what the original GCH was to look like. As was stated, DVC with food and pool could act as the main check in until a rebuild for GCH was completed to keep the POLY open. Five year plan like tikiman talked.

As of now just rumors?

Looks to me Disney is putting all their money and efforts into DVC (and the Cruiseline). Likely this will be the most expensive DVC yet. I think they are gonna have to step up their game to keep Poly DVC guests happy. The "hit or miss" experiences common in regard to Poly service won't fly with DVC.

All the DVC properties have been built with at least a small pool to accommodate the extra room guests.

I really think building the "best kept secret" rooms at the poly would be terrible. I am not and have no plans on being a DVC member. (don't like buying something I have to pay for, for the rest of my life and never to own anything) but for some it is wonderful. I believe adding more rooms to an already crowded monorail system is not improving anything except Disneys bottom line. Just an opinion.. :confused3
