7/25/2013 Med. Mickey's 12 Night Italian Job - with Nice, Valletta and Dubrov !

Hello and welcome to "nevesmum"!! You've found your way to Disboards - yay! This poster will be joining our family onboard next summer, they are my sister-in-law, brother and niece who will be 6 when we sail! This will be their 2nd Disney cruise. After my dd met some lovely friends via Disboards last summer for our 10 night Med (one of whom she can't wait to sail again with next summer...Helenreed's dd :yay:) I have my sister in laws permission to mention that they would love for their dd to meet up with some little ship mates too onboard!! I'm sure there was a poster with a 6 year old dd from Scotland, my brother and his family also live in Scotland so no language problems there!!:rotfl:

Hi everyone!

Lisa, it will be good to meet up again. How was the Disney trip?

I booked our flights for Orlando last night and have moved things to October, so its a definate :thumbsup2. Now just have to decide on hotels, have got the Beach Club for July and can move it. Anyone experience of the Waldof Astoria?

Hi Kate,

I have a friend who went on honeymoon there and she loved it, not sure how child friendly it is though. I dont think you can beat Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club!

Hey everybody. Looks like we're growing again.

WELCOME newcomers:welcome:

What is this about ABD???? I missed this somewhere. Okay, I'll begin the search right after this post (and updating the roll call).

I hope you all have fun in July. We did the spring break thing.

LisaMarie, I agree with you, our next trip is this cruise. We may have to rectify that situation as well.

Now, on to search about this ABD thing you all are talking about.

Take Care,
John

Okay, I checked out the ABD. Sounds like one before the cruise and one during the cruise. Have I got that right?

Anybody got the generic sticker shock on these? I sent for the brochure, but I don't want to call to ask the price unless I have to.

The other thing I noticed was that the Vatican was listed as a "picture" stop, not a tour. Is there a better definition of picture stop?

Hi Kate - The Disney trip was fantastic. We stayed in Sarasota the first week (in an amazing hotel) and WDW the second. We chose the Beach club as we'd heard good reports, but I must admit it didn't quite live up to expectations. This may have been because the pool was shut for some of our stay and the waiting time for dinner was long despite reservations. I think we're spoilt on the cruise! If we did it again (and I'm working on that!), we would probably opt for the Waldorf. My only worry would be whether their transportation links are as good as Disney's. The Beach club is probably one of the best for location.
I am really looking forward to next July and joining 'old' friends and making some new ones too.

We are also booked on this cruise! There are 6 of us, DH and I with our 4 kids. DS18 will have just graduated High School, DD16, DD15 and DD11. I am glad to see that there a least a couple of others the same age as DS since he will not be allowed in the teen club.

We did the Med Crusie in 2010 and LOVED it! I am so excited to go back. Now I just have to wait for airfare to come out and hopefully be able to book it all using miles!

Sorry, I didn't say who was joining me - it would help for the roll call....

Me (Lisa), DH (Mike), DD(starting age 8 and will be leaving the ship the grand age of 9) and DS (6).

Figment fan the ABD stop at the Vatican is more than a photo stop. I called and asked they told me you get to tour the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel. We booked both the one in Barcelona and the one on the ship. Yes they were very expensive but not any more then what we would spend on excursions while on the ship.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have just booked the Beach Club for 7 nights, the Waldof was cheaper, but we wouldn't get the Disney Dining Plan and the buses are not good apparently!!! Also I think dd will prefer the BC and we can walk into Epcot.

I have heard it is looking a bit tired too. We have three days after the BC, I was thinking of booking something in Universal. At the moment looks like the Hard Rock. Why don't you join us?!!!!! A little prelude to the cruise!

Re. the Vatican Museum - it is very long and to be honest, a little bit boring, especially if you have children with you. The Sistine Chapel however, is not to be missed.

Have you checked out the roll call on the first page? It lists mosts the appendages & ages! My youngest DD is already telling me she is not getting off the boat for any shore excursions!!!! Sat an exam yesterday so until results day next Friday I can do a bit of research & planning - I'm sure it will be here before we know it!

Hello fellow cruisers can I join you?

Just booked this cruise tonight and so excited I can't wait:banana:

It will me myself, my DH and my DD who will be 6 when we sail.
We are from Scotland and although have been to Disney many many times this will be our first cruise to Europe.

Hi honeybear 66

Our dd will also be 6 when we sail and we live in Scotland as well. We sailed the magic in 2011 and had the most fantastic time. We have not told dd about cruise as too many sleeps to count:hyper: though she still talks about the kids club and has been asking when she can go back on the big ship. Any questions just ask.

Thanks Celestine for tip on roll call

Checked out the ABD, looks cool, but I have 2 problems. My DD wants to see the leaning tower. I know, leaning tower, versus the statue of David and other pieces of rock carved by that painter guy, who hated to paint.

I still chuckle at the thought of him cursing at the pope as he fell off the scaffolding while painting the ceiling of the chapel.

Anyway, I also really want to see Pompey. So, looks like I'll have to do some soul searching.

Welcome DisneyMomJen.

Have I missed somebody? Wen-Tom, I just noticed I had misspelled your moniker. Sorry. I corrected it.

Now, maybe that 3 nights /4 days before might work on the ABD. Does anybody else's head start spinning a little as you start to work on the details???

DisneyMomJen, I told my son about your DS(18) on the ship. He was glad that there would be somebody else in the same situation. I'm interested in seeing how this works out for kids their age.

I would recommend Pompei
