Welcome aboard. This thread is kind of quiet at the moment but I am sure it will liven up as we get closer. I know that I am kind of focused on this summers vacation at the moment but once that is over will be here a lot more often!

I just heard from the family that was our dining room mates on our very first cruise (ironically in the Med.). They are on their way to the Fantasy inaugural this weekend. They think that they may book this itinerary OB. That would be neat.

They are back and loved the Fantasy. It is amazing how many freebies they came back. They also came back with a new reservation. Unfortunately it is for the sailing before this one. They like Greece more than Venice.

Welcome SCFamily.

I'm glad your friends had a good time on the Fantasy. Sorry that they won't be joining us.

I just finished a blog by somebody on the Fantasy and I was amazed at all of the gifts they recieved for being on the first official cruise.

Welcome SCFamily4, I'll add you to the roll call.

We just got back from WDW. Stayed at SSR and had a great time. DD11 had me out at the Magic Kingdom until 2:30 a.m. one night and 1:30 a.m. on another. DW and DS were smarter than me and went to the room to go to sleep.

I love the new oriental spicy chicken waffle at Sleepy Hollow. Yeah, food is a hobby. Now I just wish they had Dole Whips on the ship.

This thread is quiet especially compared to the sailing before us. We'll get there.

Hello fellow cruisers can I join you?

Just booked this cruise tonight and so excited I can't wait:banana:

It will me myself, my DH and my DD who will be 6 when we sail.
We are from Scotland and although have been to Disney many many times this will be our first cruise to Europe.

Thanks for the food tip. We'll be in WDW this summer and have to check it out.

Welcome honeybear and congratulations on your new booking.

Garak, they also serve a Nutella and fresh fruit waffle. Didn't get to try that, but there will always be another trip.

Did I ever mention, I really like your moniker? Yes, Star Trek fan here. Did prefer nextgen, and can't ever give up on the original Kirk; however, always hungry for more of any of it. There are favorites and not so favorites, but NEVER disliked any of it.

Anyway, sidetracked as always. Welcome to you honeybear66.

I was reading an article on another web about possibley pushing for cruises in the Netherlands and the Fjords. I'm up for it. Okay, I gotta have something to look forward to beyond what I am looking forward to.

I met with somebody yesterday who was asking me questions about Disney cruises as she was trying to talk her DH into one. He is afraid of being inundated with kids. I pointed out the adults only areas, and the shows, and the kids clubs. I mentioned how I seemed to have traded my DD for a beeper on several occassions. Maybe I need counseling: why am I addicted to a creature with round ears and many of his companions? . . . yeah, that will make for some real interesting association testing.

Not only a Trek fan, but it turns out that DS9 is my favorite tv show of all time. I know it is a controversial choice but I recommend re-watching it from beginning to end. It is masterful!

Hi all! Is it me, or have prices come down since the schedule was first released? We booked a placeholder cruise on our 10 day Med this past summer in the hopes they'd do another one in '13, but the Hubs said "No way" when we saw the prices earlier this year. (I haven't yet moved the 4 day December cruise from Galveston, LOL)

Now, they don't look so bad (in fact, they are cheaper than the 8 day River Cruise we have booked for July, and that doesn't include the DLP trip after). We'll be back in the US in 2014, so this will be our only chance for another Med, I think...

Hoping I will be posting soon that I am joining you!

*Hi K8T!!!!

Just looked and the price is exactly the same as we paid on day 1 of booking (adjusted for our ob booking discount) (we are gold members). We've booked an 11B, maybe it depends on which cabin you have booked? I did look at Royal Carribbean and the price comes out very close (well in sterling any way).

I just came on the boards to share the exact same news. Price for our 6A is exactly the same as day 1. I found some better deals on other lines but not enough to change our minds.

I am very anxious to start planning my pre-sail land adventure. I have to patiently wait for flight information. I don't know if it will be cheaper to fly into London, Paris, or Madrid. These prices will dictate where we will visit pre-cruise.

Hi there, we are the Jackson family from the UK. We got back from Florida and a 4 night trip on the Dream last week and are booked for this cruise. We loved taking part in Fish Extender exchanges and hope this thread will be doing the same? A long time to wait but we are all very excited about our second (hopefully of many!) Disney cruises. My personal wish is for a double dip trip to Castaway Cay in 2014 :beach:

Looking forward to hearing from everyone else. There were only about 8 staterooms showing as available for 10c and 10B - and our travel agent said there had been a lot of interest already.

Wendy

First, Welcome Wendy. Hey mommy_grrl, would love to welcome you on too.

Been looking at last minute quick cruises for DW and I ALONE!! Don't think it can happen.:( But, I can see some of these in the future. I was amazed how much more affordable it was when we could go off season, with just the 2 of us.

We just don't need to share how much time I spent at work on research. What a way to make me look forward to this cruise all the more. One of my co-workers left for a Med cruise today. He and his wife are going on the Oceana line. Their cruise will hit some of our ports and Greece. I told him to take really good notes. I'll share if he comes back with anything good.

I can hardly wait to see the water off the ship again. "mother, mother ocean, I can hear you call . . . " Oh, Jimmy Buffet take me to a new latitude and change my attitude!

Garak - did you see the news? All Starfleet captains are reporting to England for a get together and one of the conventions. Bring on another version!!!! This generation needs something like that.

Yes I did see the news about the Starfleet captains. It made me wish that my trip to Europe was this year! I am also ready for another series. In particular I miss Avery Brooks. Maybe Disney can get him to narrate the next Nature movie.

My guess is flying into London will not be the cheapest option as the government have introduced various additional taxes etc. that makes routes (particular long haul ones) more expensive. There is an increasing trend for us Brits to fly indirect to USA via Dublin or close European continent as it works out far cheaper & looks set to continue in that way.

Welcome Wendy

We've also enjoyed FE and hopefully we can get it organised for this cruise. I guess it is still too far out for anyone to be planning that yet?

Celestine

I have decided to book our Med cruise with Celebrity instead of Disney - for the cost of a veranda and inside stateroom on Disney I am getting two aqua class cabins on Celebrity - and I think the food will be better. Have fun everyone!

Flying is a fickle thing. Believe it or not flying into London from Boston would be cheapest this summer. This was not expected, especially because of the Olympics. I hope this holds true next year. Not only is England high on my list but it is my only non-red eye option.

A non red-eye choice is always good! Luckily we only need a short hop next year, but because we want to use flyer miles, won't be able to book our flights until JAnuary after we've been to see friends in San Francisco and therefore have enough miles!
