2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

So my SIL and I have decided to commit to each other to run the Princess Half in 2013. Anyone run it before? I know BC/YC was a host resort last year and we are hoping it is again this year since it would be my first choice!!

Totally off topic post here but did anyone watch Undercover Boss tonight? I was on! Woo hoo my TV debut. Ok well 2nd TV debut, in 1988 when I was a junior in high school I was on a local game show called Scholastic Scrimmage....LOL!!!

Ok back to the daybed question - I've had 2 daybeds in rooms in the last 4 weeks - the daybed at Poly was a flip-over type daybed, that opened to a twin size mattress. The daybed we had at BC was also a twin sized mattress but it didn't flip out like the one at Poly did, you just tossed the back pillows off & slept on it like that. The Poly daybed seemed larger than the BC one, but I didn't sleep on either.

I think the only rooms at BC that guarantee a daybed at the Deluxe CL rooms (I posted pics a few pages back). They all have 2 queens & a daybed. You might need to look into this if you have to have a daybed guaranteed and want to stay at BC.

I've read that what they're calling a daybed in the refurbed POR rooms is more of a large crib size mattress, not even a twin.

Okay, okay, OKAY! I have officially been lured out of disboards lurkdom. The fact that Marlton Mom is from the town right next to the place I was born and raised almost got me on this board, but now I find out that Teena is from South Jersey, too! Well, that and all the Tastycake talk just pushed me right over the edge, so here I am! I live in NC now, but I dream of moving back to my hometown in New Jersey (let's be honest, who doesn't dream of moving to New Jersey?).
We stayed at the BC in early March and booked a bounce back offer for September. We've always been WL fans, but now are torn between WL and BC (actually my 6 year old is a full BC convert). Teena, I'm looking forward to meeting you in September, and you can expect a Tastycake replenishment as I will have just been in NJ visiting my parents!

Just got some sad news from United. They decided to change our flights times and shorten our stay. We were going to arrive at MCO around 2PM, now 5PM and leave around 5PM but now 2PM Departure.

I don't understand how they can just do this and it all be ok?

Bummer!

The airlines definitely don't understand or care about changing things, they need to be selfish to stay in business.

Frontier completely cancelled our flights. They said they will not be flying out of Boise any longer. I quickly booked flights on SW for close to the same price, but out last day is also cut down by 3 hours. At least we have flights, but 3 hours really does make a differences with park planning and ADR! But we are going on vacation and we are going to have loads of fun!!

I MUST know more!! Love that show! Where were you and what were you doing? What episode???

Again, another Disboards lurked chooses our thread to make her first post! Good choice!!! :). Welcome, Julie!!!

Dee, I'm still waiting to hear what Darth Vader's favorite song is! Is it by Twisted Sithster????

Look at my Mickey pushpin pushing its way out the OTHER SIDE of Spaceship Earth!!!

In talking to my family tonight, I decided to change our first night's ADR from Biergarten to Teppan Edo, if I can get it. I emailed IPO... I was OK with the public tables if the other family was going to be there, but they are flying on points and don't arrive until 11:30 pm...

Also, I'm 99% sure I'm sucking it up and getting the DDP. With one TS every night and a bunch of buffets, I think it makes sense. Plus it will give us more of a false "all inclusive" feeling. LOL

While I am upset with United, it wasn't until their merger with Continental that's I've had 2 horrific flights and now this. Southwest wasn't an approved carrier for my work until this year but I have miles and credit with United so why switch. My wife (DW right?) doesn't do the planning or anything so it's all up to me.

Maybe we'll check the cost to extend the trip by one day to make up for this. I know it's only 5 hours but we won't go again for probably 3-4 years, trying to make the most of it.

Since the airline has changed your flights, you can phone them, and say the new flight times aren't good for you, and you'd like different flights.
They will make the change free of charge. I've had to do this several times before.
Look up on their web site first(before you phone) the flights available, then phone and tell them what flights you want to be on.

Funny- I've always had better service with Continental, then United! And Continental had the better miles program. Their points didn't expire :sad2: Not happy about the switch to United Milage Plus.

Oooooooo yum!

Tastycakes are made in Philadelphia and I am originally from South Jersey (across the river from Philly) and Tastycakes are something that I really miss now that we live in Florida. We love Florida but there are some things that you just can't get here. The thing we miss the most is the Jersey tomatoes and Jersey corn and then of course the Philly Cheesesteaks and Tastycakes.

Tastycakes are sort of like Little Debbie but IMO 1000 times better. We grew up on Tastycakes and Tastypies and just figured they were shipped everywhere. It was a shock to find they aren't here in Florida. Recently we have been able to find some in Walmart and Publix but mostly just the Butterscotch and the Jelly Krimpets. There are loads of varieties and the chocolate ones are my favorites! Their pies are sooooo good too!

You can see more about them at: http://www.tastykake.com/

You haven't lived till you've had BC corn :goodvibes

Funny how we crave foods from home. I lived in NY till I was 19, and I LOVE Jones Breakfast sausage! When I go to Florida I buy a few boxes, and freeze them, wrap well, and put them in the outside compartment of my checked luggage to bring home. Can't get them on the west coast :(

So my future wife and I FINALLY chose Beach Club garden view for our last week of our Honeymoon in July. We will be there July 20-27th. Three week honeymoon can't wait :) It was a hard choice because my dream has been to stay at the grand however with the construction going on now it was a sell off ... also I love the pictures of the pool and were huge pool lovers. Also the short walk to the boardwalk and Epcot :) So needless to say Beach Club won! My dream of seeing the castle from my window will have to wait lol

Feckless - yes just look at that push pin on that ticker - it's really flying now!!!!

I work for Yankee Candle & our CEO came to our store undercover (ok seriously, we knew for months that's what it was but weren't allowed to talk about it, and corporate kept playing dumb with us). They called to try & find someone with a sob story. I happened to be the one interviewed but I didn't get picked, the only hardship in my life I could come up with was that it had been 6 months since I'd been in Disney!! (After the conversation I truly think they were wanting to interview me as a candidate for My Strange Obsession or something...I didn't stop talking about WDW!)

I suggested they call another local store & talk to a young man who I had hired a year earlier in our store, but he transferred & took an assistant manager promotion nearby. He was struggling to pay for his schooling by working full time, and his dad had just died after being really sick for months. He had a ton of financial burdens in his family & it was all falling on him. They called him & picked him to be on!

They filmed 10 hours in our store (because our store is much larger than the one he works in). I was there the whole time & saw myself twice last night! It was tons of fun. The CEO looked like Carrot Top with his curly red wig on. Another DIS-er & one of my Disney travelling companions, who happens to be our store manager, was also on (Teena it was Carol that you met a few weeks ago while we were down there at BCV!)

HOORAY! I did the Princess Half last month and will definitely do it again. So much fun! :)

WELCOME!! So glad to have you here! Feel free to share the details on your BC trip. What did you love best about BC? What was the highlight of your trip? Let us live vicariously!!

I do the same thing when I fly to Texas!! But I'm obsessed with Cousin's beef barbecue, not Jones breakfast sausage. I also bring back a case of the barbecue sauce. :)

CONGRATULATIONS! :dance3: Hope you have an amazing wedding & honeymoon. A thousand blessings to you & your beloved!

Dee - I love this. :rotfl:

Wonderful! March has been good to you! Let's hope April is overflowing with even more happiness :thumbsup2

Lurker here! My bucket list is to stay in all the WDW resorts at least once--two down, many to go...

Hopefully one day I'll be able to contribute to this thread when I stay at YC & BC!

Welcome!! Don't wait to contribute! Dreamers are embraced around here.

Now - how do I get through the next 72 days?

:lmao: I hear you! I'm at 48 days now, and I'm SO excited I can barely stand it. I have been passing the time by shopping Etsy for cute personalized Mickey/Minnie clothing for my kids. Planning outfits can be such fun, too! :)

Well.... if it's not one thing it's another when it comes to this trip.

I was just informed by my husband that I need to push my dates back by 1 day.

Just wanted to offer you a hug.

In the mean time, I'm wishing on a star. :fish:

Keep wishing & planning & saving. You'll make it happen! Don't ever give up on your dreams!! :lovestruc

Tara, how exciting! I had to laugh at "the only hardship in my life I could come up with was that it had been 6 months since I'd been in Disney"! I wish I had recorded it to go back and look for you. How did you all know for months before- was it just company rumor mill? I always try to imagine this scenario at my workplace....

I totally watched last night and thankfully, it's On-Demand so I can watch again! Now how will I know who you are?

Being from MA - home of Yankee Candle, I had to watch.

:lmao:

Can I use that one for the Laugh Floor???

Absolutely!

I made that sign back in 2009, to bring to Jedi Training Academy, but my boys didn't want to do it. My youngest, Ben, did do the JTA on our 2008 trip, but I wasn't there to see it. I was back at the resort with my oldest son who was not feeling well. :sad1:

I've stayed at the Yacht Club before and to be honest, didn't really check out the lounge there.

However, it's just a quick walk over to the Boardwalk where there are several nice bars: Jellyroll's (Piano Bar), ESPN Club (Sports Bar) and Atlantic Dance Club (a dance club, as the name implies). Of these, I've only been to Jellyroll's, but it's a GREAT time! I highly recommend checking it out!

Thanks so much! Do you happen to know how late those are open during the week? My husband and I have a night to ourselves and after Epcot closes at 9 we want somewhere to go after. Thanks again
