2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks for responding! I would imagine the same thing. If I don't hear anyone chime in that they have ordered actual food to go from BnC, I will assume it can't be done. And it sounds like I will have to actually get up to get my drink ;)

The take away window is unfortunately only for ice cream - your choice for take away would be Hurricane Hannah's or the BC Marketplace.

I do not believe there are any king beds in garden view club level. There are very few king beds in club level period ... only 3 I believe and I think 2 of them do not have full balconies. However, the one bedroom suites all have kings and some have full balconies.

If I were you, I'd decide which is more important, full balcony or king bed. You have a better chance of getting a full balcony if you do not request a king bed. You have a better chance (although still slim since I think there are only 3 in club level) of getting a king bed if you do not request the full balcony too.

Thank you your quick reply and for the information Teena  My DH is 6'4" so sharing a queen (which is what I believe is standard for the rooms?) does make it a bit tight on leg room for him. We are so excited to be staying at the Beach Club and are looking so forward to our first time staying at an Epcot resort. The bed size will be secondary as he can always sleep in one of the queens alone if he is too uncomfortable.

I have to ask what may be a silly question for you all. Is a Tastycake the same as or like a Little Debbie? I have never seen Tastycakes anywhere. They must be something really special with all this talk about them. Maybe like a :mickeybar ???

Trying to get caught up on this thread... Thanks so much to all of you for sharing all of this information.

Our family will be visiting Yacht Club in June. I'm so looking forward to a first Star Wars Weekend for my little Jedi (DS8: he refers to DD6 as his little Sith-ster) and to spending my birthday at Disney!! :yay: I didn't tell my kids at first because I wasn't 100% sure that everything would work out with time off from work, etc, but now vacation time has been requested and granted, trip is paid for, and ADRs are made. Now - how do I get through the next 72 days?

Just noticed tonight as we were strolling around the resort they changed Martha's Vineyard. The couches and coffee tables are all gone, now it is all "cafe style" wooden chairs and tables like a restaurant. Very strange. There wasn't a single person in there. So we walked back down to the Ale & Compass and spoke to the bartender, she had no idea what they were doing down there with the remodel. I'm wondering if maybe they are trying to make it more like a restaurant instead of a bar??? It was a bummer to us because we use to like the atmosphere down there.

Tastycakes are made in Philadelphia and I am originally from South Jersey (across the river from Philly) and Tastycakes are something that I really miss now that we live in Florida. We love Florida but there are some things that you just can't get here. The thing we miss the most is the Jersey tomatoes and Jersey corn and then of course the Philly Cheesesteaks and Tastycakes.

Tastycakes are sort of like Little Debbie but IMO 1000 times better. We grew up on Tastycakes and Tastypies and just figured they were shipped everywhere. It was a shock to find they aren't here in Florida. Recently we have been able to find some in Walmart and Publix but mostly just the Butterscotch and the Jelly Krimpets. There are loads of varieties and the chocolate ones are my favorites! Their pies are sooooo good too!

You can see more about them at: http://www.tastykake.com/

Maybe it was for a special event. I'll try to find out more on Sunday.

So they're a Jersey thing? I have never heard of them (northern Jersey here). Interesting. I grew up in NYC, though, and just moved out here in 2004. Hmmm. Will have to keep my eyes out for them. They look something like the Hostess products. Is that blasphemy to liken them to them? Are they better?

They're 1000 times better than Hostess and Little Debbies IMO. They sell them in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, etc.

Well.... if it's not one thing it's another when it comes to this trip.

I was just informed by my husband that I need to push my dates back by 1 day. Does he not realize the amount of time, energy, sweat, and tears it takes to plan a trip to Disney? He says "It's just one day" Well now I have to cancel one of the nights at our "pre-Disney" hotel, add a night either at the BC (if one is available in the middle of June for CL) or add a night somewhere else. I also have to change my ADR for one of those nights plus I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours researching flights (good thing I hadn't booked those yet) :headache: I'm sure that there are other things I am forgetting, but I just wanted to vent for a minute

Thank you so much Natebenma!! I figured that was the case - but of course - had to confirm just to put my mind at ease!! :) I would love to be added to the Be Our Guest list ... the dates of our trip are May 7th to 11th. Thanks again for everything ... it's really wonderful to be able to log on to this thread every day and read everyone's friendly & fun commentary! :goodvibes

First of all, awesome place for a first post!! Welcome!

Second, see you at SAB in May! My kids will be the one in various Leafs and Blue Jays paraphernalia. Yes, the Toronto teams reign supreme in my house for some reason. LOL. Just got back from Toronto and enjoyed the brief summer weather.

I have a long history with WDW; I love it and it gives me something to look forward to. I don't get there every year; sometimes it's been 4 years between trips :( , but I manage. When my career was going fine I stayed at a monorail deluxe. Then an illness left me out of work on disability; with the help of friends and family sharing rooms, I had several stays at the moderate level and enjoyed it very much. This year I'm getting to go to the new AoA resort with friends and I'm looking forward to it, but the reason I'm writing this is my Disney Dream is to stay at the Beach Club someday. It won't be easy financially, but it's a goal to work towards and there are probably different strategies that may help me do it some year. In the mean time, I'm wishing on a star. :fish:

Here's hoping your Disney dream comes true sooner rather than later!!

All of us crazy planners understand the frustration!!! Good luck!

Aren't you tempted to just tell him "you do it all then". They just don't understand. At least you don't have to deal with changing your airline stuff!

We always order from garden grocer. Never a problem!

Scottmel - just wanted to tell you a funny story. We were confirmed YC lovers. When we did our Grand Gathering we werent' able to get four rooms with our discount at YC, only at BC. I was a nervous wreck and sure that I wouldn't like BC as much as YC. Well guess what - we ended up liking BC even more than YC! Now if BC wasn't available we wouldn't hesitate to stay at YC. Just wanted to share our experience.

Thanks Robyn! I can't wait! View is sooooo important to me so it is kind of fun that I will be surprised thie year of my view. Like DH said, how many years in a row can you look at the wedding gazebo and not feel a little bored????:goodvibes

Totally agree - men are Clueless! Have HIM do the re-arranging, if he thinks there's nothing to it! We planners are under-appreciated:rolleyes1

No comparison between Hostess, Little Debbie's, Drakes and Tastycakes.
Tastycakes are in a category all their own.

My favorites - chocolate cupcakes, coconut juniors, peanut butter tandycakes, butterscotch krimpets, cherry pie, and lemon pie. Definitely one of the perks of living in the general vicinity of Philadelphia!

Teena - I will come bearing tastycakes again this summer!

All this talk of tastey cakes is making me curious... am thinking I'm going to have to try these

Let me share my worries...

My husband is 2nd asst. manager. The 1st asst. manager is pregnant and due in June, thankfully the end of June as our trip to the midwest for my niece's graduation is at the beginning of the month, so we SHOULD be ok.

But, the Store Manager is pregnant too and when is she due? October. When is our WDW YC trip? The one that is all booked and paid for? Yep, October. And, she still hasn't told the District Manager yet. (That's another issue in itself.)

I am in semi-panic that the DM is going to (a) be PO'd (ok, I'm pretty sure this is going to be the case) and (b) that hubby is going to be told that he can't take his vacation in October. I will go off the deep end if this happens.
