2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Let me share my worries...

My husband is 2nd asst. manager. The 1st asst. manager is pregnant and due in June, thankfully the end of June as our trip to the midwest for my niece's graduation is at the beginning of the month, so we SHOULD be ok.

But, the Store Manager is pregnant too and when is she due? October. When is our WDW YC trip? The one that is all booked and paid for? Yep, October. And, she still hasn't told the District Manager yet. (That's another issue in itself.)

I am in semi-panic that the DM is going to (a) be PO'd (ok, I'm pretty sure this is going to be the case) and (b) that hubby is going to be told that he can't take his vacation in October. I will go off the deep end if this happens.

ACK! I feel your pain. I would freak out as well.... Good luck!

Well.... if it's not one thing it's another when it comes to this trip.

I was just informed by my husband that I need to push my dates back by 1 day. Does he not realize the amount of time, energy, sweat, and tears it takes to plan a trip to Disney? He says "It's just one day" Well now I have to cancel one of the nights at our "pre-Disney" hotel, add a night either at the BC (if one is available in the middle of June for CL) or add a night somewhere else. I also have to change my ADR for one of those nights plus I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours researching flights (good thing I hadn't booked those yet) :headache: I'm sure that there are other things I am forgetting, but I just wanted to vent for a minute

I just had to do the same thing for my August trip- I can completely sympathize!! It's "just one day" to my dh as well, but he has no understanding of how that messes with my crazy little system :rotfl:. I'm losing a coveted early morning adr on what was supposed to be our first morning, and now I have to get used to a whole new vision of what's happening when :lmao: (it's nice to have these very first-world problems, isn't it?). Good luck, and try to embrace your new reality :thumbsup2

Tastycakes are made in Philadelphia and I am originally from South Jersey (across the river from Philly) and Tastycakes are something that I really miss now that we live in Florida. We love Florida but there are some things that you just can't get here. The thing we miss the most is the Jersey tomatoes and Jersey corn and then of course the Philly Cheesesteaks and Tastycakes.

Tastycakes are sort of like Little Debbie but IMO 1000 times better. We grew up on Tastycakes and Tastypies and just figured they were shipped everywhere. It was a shock to find they aren't here in Florida. Recently we have been able to find some in Walmart and Publix but mostly just the Butterscotch and the Jelly Krimpets. There are loads of varieties and the chocolate ones are my favorites! Their pies are sooooo good too!

You can see more about them at: http://www.tastykake.com/

We are in Northeastern PA and Tastycakes are EVERYWHERE!! They are like a household staple...when you say you are going to pick up cakes at the store, there would never be a mention of little debbies or hostess...in fact the only reason I even heard of hostess was from the silly commercials with the racoon snowboarding.

Another local hot one is Gertrude Hawk Chocolates...especially peanut butter smidgens!! On our next trip down, unfortunately not for 2 years, we'll make sure to bring Tastycakes and some Gertrude Hawks for the CMs to try out!!

Where is the closest grocery store, super Wal-Mart or Target work too. Just looking for a place to get breakfast items and beverages for our stay. Thinking it may be significantly cheaper off property as compared to the Marketplace

I like the Super Target out on 192. Directions are here on this thread I think.

3250 Vineland Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746

This was te superWM that my gps took us to when we stayed at the BC.

It was clean, close, had a good sized Disney area and a subway.

They're 1000 times better than Hostess and Little Debbies IMO. They sell them in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, etc.

They are on sale at Giant groceries stores in the PA/DE/MD area this week, 4 boxes for $10!!! I just got 4 boxes! Teena, sadly I haven't seen the chocolate Kandy Cakes for weeks now, just the regular peanut butter ones (both milk & dark chocolate) and the regular Chocolate cupcakes (filled or unfilled). I'm trying the limited edition red velvet Tastycakes right now!

Lurker here! My bucket list is to stay in all the WDW resorts at least once--two down, many to go...

I'd never heard of Tastycakes before following this thread. I saw some in our local Wal-mart a couple of weeks ago and immediately thought of Teena! Little Debbie headquarters is located a couple hours south of us, so that's what we eat here.

Hopefully one day I'll be able to contribute to this thread when I stay at YC & BC!

So to change the subject...

Has anyone done the safari tour at AK? The one with the bridges and snack? It takes 3 hours. prices went up to $249 a person!!! Just wanted to see if any one had any info.

Also coming by car next week Is there a need for noodles to be left behind????

I've talked to guests that have done it and they loved it. All positive experiences that I've heard!

Just got some sad news from United. They decided to change our flights times and shorten our stay. We were going to arrive at MCO around 2PM, now 5PM and leave around 5PM but now 2PM Departure.

I don't understand how they can just do this and it all be ok?

Bummer!

When that happened to me all the time with Frontier, USAir, United and Delta, I finally had it and changed to Southwest ... about five years ago and it has never happened once with them. And if I want to make a change myself, it doesn't cost me a penny.

I cancelled a flight once and got the entire amount as a credit which I used a few months later.

UGH! I hate when airlines do that. Now had you wanted to change your flight, they probably would have charged you $100 or more. But they can do it and mess up everything.

American did this to me once. I was going to Florida too. They changed the time of my flight from Providence to NYC and it cut my connection time to 24 minutes and they required a minimum of 29 minutes between flights. I was supposed to be in Tampa around 11-12:00 and didn't get there until 5pm. Messed up my entire day. I flipped at them! They didn't care. But I've never flown them again either.

We did the wild africa trek back in October. We loved it! While it is pricey part of that money goes towards a donation towards nearly extinct animals and you get a photopass cd with pictures on them. My husband loved the tour. While I love it as well I think its a one time deal no reason to experience it again after you did it once. I loved having lunch out on the savannah it was super cool and way better than being in the van during the kilmajaro safari which seems to whip thru the safari at a face pace. You really get up close to hippos and crocodiles its quite amazing. Our tour only had 6 people on it and 2 cast member guides. I think the max on a tour I am going to say is 10 people. We did the 10:15 tour had a nice breakfast at tusker house at 9am and then went on the tour. While you could make the meal they give you a lunch we didnt eat the whole thing and the meal was more of a snack for us. if you have any others ?s let me know dont know if i covered everything

:thumbsup2 Love Southwest! So easy to rebook flights and get your full credit. Unlike the other airlines that will nickle and dime you everywhere.

While I am upset with United, it wasn't until their merger with Continental that's I've had 2 horrific flights and now this. Southwest wasn't an approved carrier for my work until this year but I have miles and credit with United so why switch. My wife (DW right?) doesn't do the planning or anything so it's all up to me.

Maybe we'll check the cost to extend the trip by one day to make up for this. I know it's only 5 hours but we won't go again for probably 3-4 years, trying to make the most of it.
