December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

Ready? Do I need to pack shampoo and conditioner? I am worried about fitting everything in my bag(s).

Typically I need to pack my own because hotel shampoos and especially conditioners are terrible. Except the Shagri-La, they have L'Occitane - mmmmm...

I already know I will need to bring a hair dryer. My hair is super long right now (I say this as I am thinking of a change soon) and hotel dryers are double terrible.

So ladies...how are the products on the ships? :confused3

I am bringing my own because it took me over 20 years to find a shampoo/conditioner combo that helps me to avoid frizz.

It will be tropical, where I frizz the most, bringing my own is my only hope!!

So the sunburned frizzy haired woman will be me.
I am also bringing my aloe vera as well.

No more messages have been sent. The men seemed to have stopped planning their hijinks. Maybe they finally realized they were outnumbered.

Ok, Time for some Spanish lessons to help everyone get ready. An accent will follow the letter it belongs on top of. I have an english word pronunciation guide I made up that I hope will help

1- Donde esta' el ban~o? pronounced DOUGHN de esTA el BAHNyo
Where is the bathroom?
Left and right will be later because honestly if does no good to ask for directions if you won't understand them when they answer

2- Cuanto cuesto pronounced KWANto KWESto?
How much does it cost?

Hopefully everyone knows their numbers if not we can do those later.

3- Por Favor pronounced pour FA vore
Please

4- Graci'as pronounced gra SI ahs
Thank you

5- Hola' pronounced Oh la
Hello

6- Adios pronounced Ah THEE oos (yes the d makes a th sound between two vowels)
Goodbye

If anyone has a specific phrase they want to know let me know- just I do not know how to order drinks in Spanish besides Cerveza

Thanks Skye for the Spanish lesson. Me thinks I need to hear these words pronounced. I tend to read things funny!!! Oh, can you tell me how to say in Spanish, "In what movie theater is the Disney movie...........I don't remember the name off the top of my head.................it's the one that has this woman and she is from England..............let's see I think she is from England.............yes, yes she is from England...........anyway, she has this umbrella and it helps her fly................and she has this friend who sweeps chimleys (sp?)............and they dance around with these cartoon pengawins........it's sooooooooo funny.............but do you know which movie theater it's playing in right now??? Too much??? Oh ok..........so...........DW and I will be the ones following you, Kevin and your daughter about two paces back. When we want to know something I'll just nudge your shoulder and ask you to find something out for us..............OK??? :confused3

Hey David, I think I am on to something here. Did you read what LuvEeyore wrote "special phone(s)". Hmm, maybe we can intercept the signals, what do you think? Don't say anything:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

At least it did not snow last night although I had to scrape the frost off the windshield this morning:scared1:

Kevin

No I missed that Mr Prez. Had to go back and reread the post. I know, I know, I know I am suppose to be the security montior here for the Official Worldwide Man Club, (main head quarters in the.................we can't tell you!!!!) But, I think you are right on there Kevin. (Psssssssst, Kevin, what do you suppose "special phone(s)" are. And by the way what it up with that "s" inside those brackets mean.) Do they have more then one phone.............or is this another ploy of their's. Tricky.............very trickey!!! We've got to look into this Mr President. Mum's the word.............you can count on me not to say another word. When you tell me to keep quite................I shut my mouth............not another sound from me.................I won't spill the beans................blab to everyone what we are up too...........................your secret is safe with me............your loyal servent.............your comrade in arms.............buddies to the end.................I think I'm going to cry!!!!!!!!!!:scared:

Mi esposa es muy bonita:love:

I think I got that spelled right.

David, I think the (s) means more than 1. We may be out numbered but we are card carrying Worldwide MAN club members after all.:cool2::cool2:

Kevin

Howdy everyone! This is my first attempt at forums. Sine we are sailing on the Disney Fantasy on Dec. 15, this looked like a good place to start. This will be the first cruise for my Mom, sister, and me. We are excited but apprehensive. Any advice would be welcome!

:dance3:WELCOME! :dance3:
Any questions, ask away!

Disney provides H2O products, and I love them! As a matter of fact I just had to go grab the spa H20 Hydrating Body Butter and put some on my hands and take a nice deep breath.....ahhhh....instantly back on the ship! :cloud9: On the Magic and Wonder I would definately recommend your own hair dryer, the the Dream had a 'real' one that was much nice than the wall mounted, vacuum hose dealiers the 'classic' ships have. I still bring my own, becuase I like the speed/heat settings on mine.

SPANISH: I had two years in high school...a MILLION years ago. But I'm exposed to it here in the southwest and have many Spanish speaking co-workers, so I have no excuse for not stepping up my conversational Spanish.

Some of my favorite phrases:

Yo tengo un dolor de me estomago
Mas mantequilla, por favor
Espera la luz verde, entonces empuje la puerta, suavemente

AND what every Disney fan should know/recognize:
Por favor, manténgase alejado del las puertas

And I'll leave you for now with a lesson in speaking SouthWestern...

Adios, y'all!

.

Hey, did I mention my pal Cheri (NotSoLittleMermaid) is joining Monica and I on this cruise? She will be at WDW the week before, so we said, "Why fly home, come on the cruise!" And she is! :grouphug: All three of us will be on the Hawaii cruise (IN THIRTY SEVEN DAYS!!!!!), then the tres amigas will be together again for this one! :thumbsup2 Of course, then I decided I needed to head to FL a day or two early and maybe pop into one of the parks before cruising. I can do this beacuse.....I WILL BE RETIRED AND CAN GO ON HOWEVER LONG A TRIP I WANT!!!!!!!

(Three more weeks of working.....but who's counting?)

.

My kin would say all y'all for the plural tense, lol.

jackie Best wishes on your retirement. Not having a set schedule is good and bad. It certainly makes travel easier. Looking forward to meeting up with all of you again on the Hawaiian cruise.

Morning & Happy Sunday to all.

I am taking care of DW this week-end. She had an accident this past Thursday. She works at a fairly large company in Clearwater, FL. And, she is salaried - now not everyone who works there is salaried, most are hourly employees, and have to punch a time clock - so to speak. So DW arrives at work - parks the car and is walking to the entry door. There is a curb you have to step up on to from the parking lot. Now DW is just barely 5 ft tall and weighs around 100 lbs. Another employee who we assumed was an hourly employee and was running late for work came running up behind DW. It was just before 7:00am so it was still dark outside. Just as this other employee, who was about twice the size of DW, stumbled and ran into DW. Now their feet got tangled and they could not step up onto the curb, both of them hit the curb with their feet and went head first onto the sidwalk with the other employee landing on top of DW. DW's glasses went into the top of her eye causing a deep gash and now her eye is all black and blue. She has several scrapes and scratches on her knees and hands and shoulder. She said that everything on her whole body aches. She is lucky she didn't break any bones. DW asked this other employee if she was alright, and she said I'm fine. This other employee got up and took off running for the door - didn't ask DW how she was, DW said she has never seen this woman before. Just one of those freakish accidents.

So I am playing nurse this week-end for her. I have to tell you - I don't look good in the uniform. The hat keeps falling off my head - the skirt is way too tight - and I refuse to shave my legs!!!

EEEEK! I am attempting to rent DVC points to stay at AKV for the post cruise portion of our trip. This is freaking me out a little. :scared1:m Ok - a lot.

My biggest fear is paying and then showing up and having no reservation. :scared:

Wish me luck! :wizard:

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes. She is doing pretty good, she went to work today. She walks like Peg Leg Pete, and looks like she went 10 rounds with the champ, but she is a trooper. She is tough, ifn' it had been me, I would still be whinning and crying around like a big ol' baby. She can take a beating, but still keep on ticking!!! Especally after going face down right on to the side walk there at work. We think her glasses saved her face from getting scratched and scraped up more then it did. The corner of her glasses went into her eye brow just above her right eye. It is a pretty nasty gash. It all happened so fast, she didn't have time to put her hands out to try and break her fall any. Plus she was carring her lunch bag and another bag she has work related items in. And, then there was the extra person who fell on top of her as well. Thanks everyone for thinking of her.

There is a video on youtube of the Fantasy crossing from Europe to USA. It is about 26 minutes long but an interesting one. If you haven't seen it yet, click on the link to check it out.

Sorry you dont think you look good in the uniform!! I dont think I look good in mine either. I dont have the problem of the hat falling off my head--I thinak my cap is in the closet in its plastic storage bag. My problems include hair coming out of the scrub caps I wear, forgetting to take off my necklace and earrings( and when I do where I put them). No skirts for us...that would not be a pretty site where I work!! Our problems with the scrubs we wear, ugly or green, the size packs we get say they contain certain sizes and they do but the medium pants one day wouldnt fit the xtra small coworkers and the next day I need suspenders. One day the v neck tops come to our chins the next day we look like hoochie mommas with our low necks. Now unlike you David, if I get goobered, I dont have to wash mine uniforms and I have more clean where they came from and I spend no money on uniforms(just shoes, socks and scrub hats) . I m not sure who designed nursing uniforms but they sure need some improvement.

In all serousness, I hope DW is doing better!!

Happy monday everyone. Back to the grindstone tomorrow - Friday!!

If anyone has a specific phrase they want to know let me know- just I do not know how to order drinks in Spanish besides Cerveza, which is a short funny story:
Throwing a surprise birthday party for my friend whose mom only spoke Spanish. My spanish was okay, but not totally fluent.
She asked me if she could bring Cerveza. I thought she was a little nuts as we had napkins at our house, but thought she might have some special ones she wanted to use for the party so I said yes.

Cerveza- beer
sounded close to the word for napkin- sirvieta

Needless to say we all had a good laugh at my mixup. To this day I can order beer in Spanish. Thing is, I don't drink beer, lol.

My Spanish improved dramatically during the time I -
a) dated a Spanish speaker (not hubby)
b) went to a church that was bilingual- nothing like hearing the sermon twice to help understand things, lol.
c) intentionally went places to practice it in Miami

Skye- who is brushing up on her Spanish and getting the family ready for our trip. Our current town does not have much Spanish going on

my Spanish is very limited
Bano
puhah-push
non puhah-dont push
and in Labor and delivery- these three words are important!!
Actually I'll have to get Lucia to help me with my Spanish over the next several months. I work in a hospital big enough to have at least 3 full time spanish interpreters and we have a nurse that is part time who is also a spanish interpreter. I have to say...Lucia is my friend!! She is a great medical interpreter

Jackie, CONGRATULATIONS on your retirement. You are going to love it, I know I do!!! It will be even better still when DW retires. She won't do that until next year. It's up to me to hold down the fort until she gets here. We both are looking forward to her retireing, so we can do more things together. (Like a spur of the moment Disney Cruise!!!)

And, as LuvEeyore said if you took any pictures while on you tour of the Fantasy, please post them. We all would love to see them. Again welcome to the cruise!!!
