Shannon and Tim ~ DISboards brought us together ~ Swan Wedding 9-21-12 ~ update 6/30

Aww, what a sweet story! And I love that he surprised you with the rose petals and everything. :)

What a sweet story! I can't wait to read more. Our little group of swan brides is growing quickly!

Thank you :goodvibes I am so happy to find fellow Swan brides!!

I LOVE it! :thumbsup2

Anyways...

I think it's awesome you two met on the singles thread! That's great!

Okay, Tim's podcast moment is too sweet.

I love love love how he proposed! Sounds like you have a keeper on your hands, girl! Your ring is gorgeous and I love the surprise at POP!

Can't wait to hear more about the wedding!

Thank you :goodvibes He really is a keeper...shh don't tell him I dont want it to get to his head :rotfl:

Awwwww I love your story! I love that you met on the boards, and I love your proposal and the in-room celebration! I can't wait to hear more!

Thank you :cutie:

Holy moly awesomeness! Ok so did you get engaged this past october? What day? So some other strangeness in our connection! We were staying at the poly in october we watched wishes from the beach then left and went to the contemporary and got engaged. Now Greg did not plan it out the way Tim did because Greg said when he knew he was ready he would know and he knew that night at Wishes so he did not waste any time.

Hooray I am so excited right now!

Teresa

How funny we have even more in common with our bond of meeting on the boards and Disney engagements :goodvibes That is really cool!! It was this past October...the 20th :cutie:

I re read your PJ to read your engagement story again and how cool that it was on the 40th anniversary!! And how special Greg picked such a unique spot that holds special meaning! :lovestruc

You know what all this in common means right? We are both going to have AMAZING weddings!!!

Aww, what a sweet story! And I love that he surprised you with the rose petals and everything. :)

Thank you :goodvibes I am surprised he was able to keep it all a secret!!

Before we were even engaged we had talked about how wonderful it was that Disney brought us together and how cool it would be to one day have a Disney wedding. Well of course being research happy people we looked into it. We realized quick that Swan and Dolphin was the best choice, especially since I wanted something casual but wanted to invite more than 20 people. Also I LOVE the beach option..so that leads me to our ceremony location. We are decorating it differently than pictured below, but not too differently

pic_beach.jpg

We have put our deposit down on the location and began planning from there. Our planner with Just Marry is Karen. She is amazing to work with and always responds back to me quickly which is great :thumbsup2

We have done a ton of research and couldn't decide on a reception that fit within our budget that we really wanted...so after our ceremony we are doing cake and some socializing, but no formal meal. We are inviting all of our guests to walk over to EPCOT with us :cool1: which means I will have to change out of my dress, but hopefully into a disney bride shirt and disney bride ears :thumbsup2 (Don't worry I'll be putting pants and such on too :rotfl:) Hopefully between now and the wedding we will figure out what to do for lunch :rotfl: of course this part of the wedding day is all subject to change

Isn't Karen the BEST! I love her!

The beach location is so gorgeous and I'm not even a beach person,

Your post Wedding plans sound fun! Oh, and I vote that you DON'T wear pants and just wear the ears and shirts-- it'd make for a much more interesting reception! :lmao: ;)

Shannon sweetie - Your plans sound beautiful!!! The beach is such a gorgeous venue!! Karen is an angel isn't she?
Looking forward to hearing more!!

Love the engagement story! I'm planning a beach wedding at the Swan too. I'm just hoping it isn't too hot.

Hey shannon! Nice little tidbits! get on google chat! :yay:

Teresa

Thank you :goodvibes And thanks for keeping me in check with this PJ :rotfl:

I do love her!! I am so sad that I am getting changed around, but I am hoping my new planner Jennifer will be great as well :goodvibes

Its so funny I went to college at the beach in SC and hardly ever went, but I LOVE the idea of it for the wedding

I think I might get kicked out of Disney Parks with the no pants, but it sure would make a statement :lmao:

Congratulations! I met my DH on the internet 13 years ago!

Thank you :goodvibes I think its a great place to meet someone!!

Thank you so much :goodvibes She really has helped me so much, we have had some re assignment in our planner but I am hoping it continues to go smoothly!

Love the engagement story! I'm planning a beach wedding at the Swan too. I'm just hoping it isn't too hot.

Thank you :goodvibes I am a little worried about the heat too, I know we are getting married in the fall but down there its still hot!

After talking wedding with Teresa (Icecoldpenguin) she pointed out I didn’t even share our wedding date with you all! We chose September 21, 2012 as our date. It seems the numbers 0, 1, and 2 pop up a lot in our relationship. We had our first date on 2-12-11, we got engaged on 10-20-11, and this date 9-21-2011 came as close as possible to working into that equation while also fitting into our life plans! My best friend from college is getting married one year from the day we got engaged…she was engaged before me and asked me to be in her wedding, otherwise I probably would have snatched that date up!

There was also our honeymoon plans that we had in mind that we had to work into the date. We really wanted to get on a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon. We wanted to plan our wedding around leaving on the cruise the following day, then we will return to Disney World for a few days of fun at the parks after the cruise! That is why a Friday morning was chosen for our ceremony…we don’t do many things the traditional way :rotfl:

So we are getting married on 9-21-12 at 10 a.m. on the beach area. We are going to EPCOT after cake and pictures to relax and enjoy our guests company. The following morning we are off to board the Disney Fantasy and explore the Eastern Caribbean :goodvibes

We are staying at the Swan before the wedding and our wedding night!

We are going to be cruising on the new ship, the Fantasy as our honeymoon, very excited!

We have not picked a resort to stay at when we return for a few days at the parks..but right now we are leaning towards POP! (This is a picture from our last trip)

I am not sure how many people are also Swan and Dolphin brides, but as Faith (MrsDuck) posted, some movement in the company at Just Marry has occurred. Just Marry is the company that coordinates all Swan and Dolphin weddings, as well as other weddings in the Central Florida area.

It seems the movement is positive and it seems like our current planner Karen will be promoted into a new position, so I received an email this afternoon from our new planner Jennifer H. I am a little nervous, but it seems like we are still in great hands :thumbsup2

We have a contract on our location signed and deposit paid, so the date is secured, we are currently working on the flowers - cake - etc. for our second contract with Just Marry :goodvibes

I don't know if it helps any, but Jennifer is super nice! I used to work with her at the Great Movie Ride and then when I went to a S/D wedding at the end of October I saw her there! I have no idea how she is as a planner, but as a person's she's great!

So I personally love the way that you guys picked your day it makes so much more sense to me now. That is similar to how we picked ours actually.

do do do do, do do do do, do do do do DOOOOO! (twilight zone theme for how much we have in common)

ours which is 12-17-12 is because we wanted to do it in 2012 and we thought December would give us plenty of time and also because of my christmas break with school plus we liked the 12-12-12 thing but that is too early before christmas break. The 17 is because we started dating on July 1st which is 7-1 so you flip that and you get 17.

can't wait to hear more! you are awesome my buddy

Teresa

So glad you told us your wedding date! Now Teresa and I can come crash...

I think your cruise plans are perfect- I'd do it the same way too! The Fantasy looks like an amazing ship. We've said on the Wonder and Magic but I can't wait to try out the Dream and the Fantasy!

That's a great picture of the S/D!

Despite all our Swalphin drama recently, I think we're going to be alright! I'm glad to see Andrea's comments about Jennifer! I know Karen wouldn't abandon us!

Have you thought about floral and cake yet?

September 21 is the day before my birthday: so it sounds like a great wedding date to me!!! :goodvibes

The Fantasy will be AMAZING! I desperately want to go on another Disney Cruise!

And I am sure your new planner will be awesome. Just Marry is a great company from what I can tell. :)

admission time: seems like many of you have been on a disney cruise before....

I have never been on a disney cruise nor have I ever been on a cruise period.

ok time to razz me now i think

:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

She has been amazing so far, she replies to most of my emails so quickly its like she anticipates my next question :rotfl:

I am so glad someone understands the random numbers thing working out to be our date :thumbsup2 Its hard to explain, but it is something that clicked for both of us right away :goodvibes And of course you get it, cause you are awesome!! Now I need to find a way to convince you and Faith to move closer to Virginia please :rotfl: Ok or at least we need to plan a way to meet sometime!!

So glad you told us your wedding date! Now Teresa and I can come crash...

I wish you guys would come crash, that would be awesome!! I wish I could come crash both of yours too!!

I have only been on cruises when I was a teenager on a different cruise line, so I am very excited to do a Disney one :goodvibes

We have picked out both floral and cake...I know I haven't updated anything in a while :rotfl: the bad DISer I have been!!

Jennifer has been awesome and I know you have been having a great time with your new planner as well, so we lucked out :cool1:

YAY!! That means we will set sail on your birthday!

I am so excited to go on the cruise, but a little nervous I will get sea sick

:rotfl: I have only been on one as a teenager with my family, so I am nervous going alone without them handling everything for me!! but it is going to be fun!! I just hope I dont get sea sick  Hey maybe we can do a short DIS cruise as our married couples trip :goodvibes

I am so sorry I have been a terrible DISer lately and have not updated this and well haven't been doing too much but lurking lately :rotfl:

So we signed our second contract :cool1: this covers our officiant, our floral, our cake, and sparkling cider! The second deposit has been put down as well!

Our officiant has been assigned as Rev. Tim Herring...I have read mixed reviews about him as an officiant, I did my usual panic moment and then DF talked me down from my ledge and then I contacted Faith because she mentioned she was assigned the same officiant and she talked me off the second ledge. So we are good now...I just like to plan things way ahead of time, but need to calm down and learn to have patience :goodvibes

We have decided against doing a reception, which is still a weird concept to us as well...but we are doing cake and sparkling cider. I decided to do all sparkling cider and no champagne, just because its an early morning ceremony and because half of our family and friends don't drink alcohol/are pregnant/don't like champagne :rotfl:

We decided to go with Its Tasty Too for our cake, after talking with Karen about the ones from Swan and Dolphin catering we found that going with another company was actually cheaper even with the Swan and Dolphin's cake cutting fee when using an outside vendor. They charge $5 per person as a cake cutting fee, it includes them cutting and serving the cake with their plates/utensils. I have heard great things about Its Tasty Too...we arent able to go do a tasting ourselves, so lets hope it comes out good!! We are doing a vanilla cake with chocolate filling. Neither of us wanted anything too outrageous without being able to taste it.

We are doing a topsy turvy style of cake...two tiers...vanilla frosting or fondant with green and pink decor on the cake

We are using the bride and groom vinylmations as our cake toppers. We began collecting vinylmations together and we thought this was a cute topper for our personalities

Bride2BGroom2BCelebrations.jpg

For the floral we are going with bright flowers. Granted its September and the end of September at that for our wedding date, but I know its still going to be warm out and its on the beach, plus I just love the pop of bright colors :goodvibes

I told Karen I wanted this bouquet as close to exact as possible :goodvibes

flowers.jpg

Except I want the ribbon tying it together to be a solid tight ribbon around it instead of a ribbon hanging, though it looks really pretty in the picture

I don't think I have mentioned it yet but we have hired Randy Chapman as our photographer, I actually did that on my own outside of Just Marry! because it was a tad cheaper. At first we chose his Escape package with 3 hours of photography, but just recently I decided I wanted to add an additional hour. Photography is so important to me, so I don't want to feel rushed at all, he emailed me back and said no problem!! yay! :cool1:

I also booked Beaute Speciale for my hair and makeup. They asked if I wanted regular makeup or airbrush makeup :confused3 I am not sure which to choose...I may email back and ask for their opinion. I cannot do a hair and makeup trial either so this is going to be interesting :rotfl:

-Ok so first of all you are not horrible I have not been on the dis at all...but that was purely due to vacation
-I am waiting for Diana to send me our first contract to get things secured I am so glad you have stuff secured. I have all my stuff organized I just need the money from Greg to be able to secure everything.
-I was working directly with Tim Herring but I told Diana when we had our session that I would like her to handle it and that he was available for our date so if she could get him snagged for us I would appreciate it. I know he does not like to focus in on each bride until close to the wedding so I am not worried about it and I know things will turn out great.
-we are not doing a cake at all but I think you knew that. Our menu with Fulton's includes cheesecake but what I might do is bring in a small cheesecake for pictures and I may put the bride and groom vinylmations on that like you are doing but what I am honestly thinking of doing is putting them on the table like place cards for where we will sit and then I will do the same thing for the bridal party. I am not 100% sure yet on that but I think I am going to do something like that.
-is topsy turvy like a mad hatter?
-I love what you want for your bouquet and I do not think it really matters what time of year it is remember we are getting married in florida at disney we can be as crazy as we want :)
-hooray for deciding to go with the extra hour I think you will be happy you did plus he is a great photographer
-wow you did makeup already...when should I do that? I do not know much about that stuff but I will probably do a trial in June when we go to do a planning session.

Love you shannon!

Teresa

Your plans sound great. We're going with Randy and Beaute speciale too. I had my trial a few mos back and didn't do airbrush. I think airbrush is for people who have problem skin (acne, discolorations, etc) it is also supposed to stay on longer. I left my makeup on for about 9 hours and did not touch it up once (except for lips) and it still looked perfect. I tend to be oily and there was no sign of shine at all.

We had Rev Tim booked too before our Pastor said he'd do the ceremony for us. I've heard a lot of good comments about Tim, the only bad thing I hear is that communicating with him before the ceremony is tricky.

Your flowers are so bright and pretty! They'll really stand out. The cake sounds great too, is that a mad hatter type cake? The vinylmations will be adorable on top!

I hope your new planner is great! I panicked a bit when I heard Karen is leaving but I guess since I'm so close to my date she'll still be my planner. Just Marry has been so great so I'm guessing that all of the planners there are just as fabulous as Karen!
