OKW - live report

We arrived at OKW Thursday night around 9:30pm after a good flight. We forgot to bring our DME documents but that was a non-issue as they accommodated us immediately. We had less than a 5 minute wait. For the first time they substituted a Mears van for the usual DME bus. We had 9 passengers for OKW, SSR and POR and OKW was the first stop.

Check-in was easy with no line. We have a 1BR in bldg 25. Our Owner's Lockers were waiting for us in our villa.

On Friday, we had a relaxing morning, had an early lunch at Olivia's and then headed to Epcot late-afternoon to catch the 5:00pm performance of Candlelight Processional. Geena Davis was the narrator and did a good job. As always, CP is a wonderful program. We did not have the dinner package, but were able to get a great viewing spot just outside the roped area without the need to wait in line for a Stand-by seat.

After CP we headed to DD and had dinner at Earl of Sandwich. There is a 10% DVC discount, but also a 15% AAA discount for those who are AAA members. Great sandwich as always. After dinner we browsed thru a couple of stores but the crowds finally convinced us to head back to our villa.

Today we had a quick breakfast from Good's-to-Go in the villa and then went over to AK. Got into the 1:00pm show for Nemo and then walked around a bit before lunch at Flame Tree (don't forget to use your TIW card for the nice discount there).

There are a few villas with lighted decorations on the balcony, but not as many as years past - same for BCV when we left Epcot last night after CP. Our building has great golf course and water views. We enjoyed watching a river otter "fishing" in the fairway pond for about 30 minutes this morning.

Temps yesterday and today were low-mid 70's and upper 70's-low80's predicted for the next 3 days. Much better than the 16 degrees with snow on the ground we left on Thursday!

We plan to make the Merry Member Mixer on Tuesday (it is definitely planned in spite of reports to the contrary) and to the Annual Meeting on Thursday.

Here are a couple of photos of the view from our 2nd floor balcony taken a few minutes ago. The pond is where we saw the otter. Building 37 (Turtle Pond area) is across the green in the first photo.

Glad your having such a nice time...

Earl of Sandwich is always a DD meal for us each trip.

Glad the temps are comfortable and enjoy your time there.

What a neat thing to watch the otter play. Congrats on scoring a good seat at the CP without waiting in line. We used to be fans of the dinner package but prices are getting :scared1:.

Have a great time, Doc. I'll be enjoying your reports. :surfweb:

Well you can thank me for the great weather, Doc. We always go the first week in December but the last couple of years, especially last year, it was so darn cold that the outdoor holiday stuff wasn't much fun. I vowed to take a year off knowing full well that this would guarantee good weather for the week. Enjoy! Your report from the annual meeting should be interesting.

Thanks for the great weather, Jean! :teeth:

So did you knock on their doors and tell them that was an infraction?
;):teeth:;)

I know what you mean. We were on the Wonder last year, during this week, and it was so cold and windy all our shore excursions were cancelled.

We left an Iowa Winter for a Bahamas cruise, and in are photos, we are bundled up.

Great view! We were in 37 a few trips back and loved that opposite view.
Have a wonderful trip!!

We had a GV in 25, it is one of our favorite locations (2nd to 55)

Keep that weather around for us, Doc! We arrive Tuesday for a 1 bedroom at Kidani, and hope to be at the MMM that day as well. We'll also check in at the OL meet in Epcot and maybe try to hit the last CP if it isn't too cold. We wont want to stay late Tuesday, because we are doing Wild Africa Trek early Wednesday morning. I'm looking forward to that!

I must admit, we are already missing OKW, and we haven't even arrived yet! Don't get me wrong, I love our second DVC home of AKV, but OKW is our TRUE home away from home. I like enjoying the animals on the savanna at AKV, but you can't beat the convenience of the OKW units or the OKW location.

Last night's snow will make the nice weather at WDW seem even better. Have fun, Diane! You are celebrating for the Jones' also!

I'm sure that's not necessary. No doubt the CMs will take care of telling them they must remove the outside decorations.:rotfl:

Thanks for the live trip report. We'll be at OKW in 16 days...:yay:
Enjoy! I hope the weather continues to be beautiful...for you and for us in 16 days!!!

We shoveled about 5 inches worth off our turn around and in front of our 3 car garage this morning. Getting that cardio in to prepare us for the WDW walking!;)
