Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

I decided not to do online check in this time, because I'm so afraid of getting stuck out in the Ranchos. I'm hoping for Cabanas 8A (or at least somewhere in the Cabanas). Plus I had to book a split stay with the first night under the AP discount and the next seven nights under a bounceback deal I booked when I was there last May. I'm hoping I can stay in the same room for the whole trip though.

We didn't mind being in the Ranchos last time. I loved the bridge across the lagoon. There was one night when the walk back from El Centro seemed really really long, but otherwise it was nice and peaceful back there. The place was overrun with cheerleaders that trip during spring break. Oddly, there will once again be cheerleaders this trip because they are staying there for parade taping! lol. They weren't a problem at all, but it was funny having a bunch of giggling teenage girls in the hottub. Thank goodness it is a huge hottub.

28 days here!! WOO-HOO!!!
Hoping for Ranchos by bus stop #2, and not too far from the Digs hot tub.

6 days!

Hoping for Cabanas 8a for the boys (ok, me too);)

Haven't even started packing yet, starting tomorrow & will finalize Friday when we get more concrete weather report.

24 days to go now. Seems like there will be a few of us DISers there at the same time. We paid for a waterview, I love my waterviews! :) requested Casitas 4 top floor. A room overlooking the quiet pool or the lagoon would be great and we use the fitness club so perfect location for us. Second choice this time would be waterview in any of the Cabanas. We had a nice pool view room in Ranchos 7b last time which we really enjoyed, but would like to try a different area this time.

Keep an eye out for us guys. I will have some DIS Green Mickey Heads in our window with some Tink and others Christmas things. I made so many for our Disney cruise I know I have lots of extra. :goodvibes DS 8 makes friends really easy and will love to have some pool buddies. :thumbsup2

27 days for us!! It's getting close!!

Stl not sure what building to request. We want to be close to a bus stop for sure. Close to the dig would be nice, but not super far from el centro. Sigh..not sure at all.

We just returned from a stay (Nov 12-20) at CSR. Here are my observations…

Check-In: Did online check in and was in and out from the front desk in 5 minutes Saturday afternoon.

Room: We requested Ranchos to be away from any chaos. We were in 7B (7505) on the ground floor. It was mere steps to the quiet pool and a few minute walk from a bus stop.
The room was in fine shape and was kept up all week. No towel animals outside of the one from check in. It was kept clean although I noticed inconsistencies in replenishing of supplies. Coffee, toilet paper, even towels were sometimes totally replaced, sometimes partially, sometimes not at all.
There was no impact really from the conventions. The last night they had several lot areas roped off for a special event and that was about all we saw.

Buses: From the first day through Friday the 18th, we never waited more than 15-20 minutes for a bus. They were usually SRO coming back from MK at the end of the night, but that’s to be expected. The last Saturday, things were obviously more crowded and the bussing was a little less timely. More in the 20-30 minute range and we missed rope drop at HS EMH as a bus didn’t come until about 7:55am (this was after a 30 minute wait).

Food: The only place we ate at the resort was Pepper Market, for breakfast on three different occasions. Outside of the last Sunday morning, it was pretty quiet. The food was at best ok. Nothing spectacular and what you’d probably find at a Denny’s.

Pool: We attempted to go to the Dig Site a couple times, but when we tried they were pretty kid laden so we opted to pass. The quiet pool was never very occupied though.

Overall: While I really can’t complain about anything, I don’t believe it would be my first choice for a return trip. I think I liked the compact-ness of POFQ better…in fact, we booked a bounce back to POFQ next fall.

Thanks to everyone on this thread that provided insight and info along the way!

How short was the online check in line compared to the regular check in line?

Hey everybody! Just had to see my ticker. We've been waiting since March to see ole Pluto finally make it over to Mickey! WOOOO HOO!!!! There's some single digit dancing going on here in Arkansas.
:banana::banana::banana:
The hubs and I are really looking forward to our trip. Can't wait to see Disney all decked out for Christmas.

Loving the new site. :cool1:

We stayed at CSR in January of this year in Casita's 5. We LOVED it, and will be returning in 2013.

I have a question. I had a disabled room in Jan with a King bed. We could hardly wait to get to CSR because of the reviews on the comfortable queen beds. The king beds were quite hard. Therefore, I'll probably be requesting a queen room this time. However, do they have queen disabled rooms?

Thanks! :surfweb:

Okay, experts...

My husband wants Lobster when we are at Disney in Feb. It looks like the only place that serves Lobster is Narcoossee's at GF. We are on free DDP and it requiring 2TS credits is fine since we have some to use up from spending one day at Universal IoA...

I'm not sure which park we will be in on the day we do the lobster, but what will it look like as far as getting from GF back to CSR? Would we take a bus to MK/TTC and then hop on the CSR bus? I think MK closes at 8pm or 9pm during our stay, so what is the latest reservation we could make for dinner to still be able to get back to CSR?

I was thinking of an ADR on our AK day so we could do an earlier dinner (our 1st night, too!), so would we take a bus from AK directly to GF? And then from GF to TTC to CSR? This sure seems difficult for me to figure out since I've never been before!

Edit: I am now wondering if it would be best to do Narcoossee's on a MK day since we could take the monorail to/from. We would just need to make sure we ate early enough to make it back to MK for the electrical parade or wishes.

As far as I know, all of the accessible rooms are king rooms. Does anyone know otherwise?

I'd do Narcoossee's on a MK if you can work it out - it would just be easier. If not, you can take a bus to the GF from whichever park you are in, then either take the monorail to MK to catch a CSR bus, or just take a cab to CSR (costs maybe about $15?).

I haven't eaten at Narcoossee's, but I'd plan on about two hours for any signature restaurant.

Are you sure that MK will be closing that early when you are there? Check out when the EMH are for that week and plan to do Narcoossee's on a MK EMH day - then you're covered either way.

We did dinner at Narcoosee's and it was wonderful. I got the surf and turf which came with the lobster tail. We made our reservations on a MK EMH day and it worked out well for us, but Disney stays open later in the summer/fall than it does in the winter and it looks like you will be there in Jan/Feb if I read your ticker correctly. You will need to allow at least 2 hours for your dining experience and factor in a possible wait time to be seated. You can see Wishes from the windows of the restaurant or go out on the deck. They pipe the music in. This was my favorite dining experience out of all the places we ate on the deluxe dining plan this year.

The other thing to factor in is that the monorail isn't as fast as people think. We were there in mid-October, and it took 45 minutes to get from MK to the GF! :scared1: So be sure to factor in plenty of travel time to get to the GF as well as to get back to CSR.
