Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

The plan now was to walk over to the stores at Shelter Cove and find a place to eat without having to get in the car. We weren't really sure what was over there, but we were about to find out.

Just to give you perspective....this is the shelter cove marina with the boats and shops to the right and the Disney resort (out of sight) to the left.

This little "mail box" is on the end of the bridge which crosses over to the stores/restaurants at Shelter Cove

Reminiscent of VA Beach (although not nearly as big), don't you think?

There were three restaurants open. One was italian, one was American, and the other might have been Mexican. I honestly don't remember. We picked this one.....

IMG_9423.jpg

We all had the drink special

IMG_9421.jpg

Notice - no lemonade in that vodka!

Our beverages were quite tasty

Our bread

We all had the Bistro 17 salad which was mixed greens, pine nuts, tomatoes, cranberries, onion, goat cheese, topped with a crab cake. I neglected to take a picture of our entree because I inhaled it. I didn't remember until I was about 2/3'rds done. Sorry.

Dinner was pretty good. Let's just say, it hit the spot and the crab cake was decent. I've certainly had better, but it was good and the salad was just the right amount of food.

We skipped dessert and walked back to the villa. It was about 8 - 8:30pm. We watched a housewives episode and at 9pm I went to bed. Up - that's right. My sleepless night caught up with me. I turned the TV on in my room to watch an episode of Sister Wives, but I was out.

L's DH called my cell phone, but I just let it ring. I saw it was him, but I ignored it and was so exhausted I went back to bed.

Up Next - Our first full day at Disney's HHI. Where the Beach??????

Great pics MEK (as usual). You really know how to capture the real feel of a trip. We can enjoy your narrative and live vicariously through your report! Keep it coming.

HHI looks absolutely gorgeous!! Love your pictures!

Ugh that stinks about the dropped liquor bottles! I'm sure that the pavement did smell very nice though!

Can't wait to see more!

Oh my gosh I think I'm in love with Disney's HHI Resort!! We visit Myrtle Beach every summer and I just love it there and come on..south carolina AND disney?? I may be trying this out indeed!! :wizard:

Wow....Virginia Beach is beautiful; thanks for the photos, MEK.

HHI Resort looks great! I'm glad it didn't take you quite as long as you feared it would to drive there. I think I remember you posting something on FB about not sleeping the night before.

You got some really great pictures around the resort.

There is a bird just like that on Marco Island and I swear we see the same one every year in the very same spot. :goodvibes

Oh, no! What a bummer that you broke the bottle of lemonade vodka! I bet it was quite tasty!

Beautiful sunset pictures over the marsh! I :lovestruc the marsh, and what a gorgeous shot of the white ibis!

What gorgeous pictures! :cloud9:

Too funny about the bird, he wasn't leaving his perch for anything.

Sorry about the vodka, I hate when stuff like that happens!

Correction: The bird I posted pictures of in the last update is an Egret, not a white Ibis!!!!!!!!!Thank you, ellen, for keeping me straight on that. As I was driving to work this morning I realized that I had seen the Ibis the NEXT day on my bird tour, but I temporarily blanked out on Egret. I keep getting Ibis, Egret, and Heron confused. Obviously, I did not master the birds well enough during my bird tour!

Be Back soon with replies!!!!!!

We have egrets everywhere in Louisiana. They are also called cow birds because you can see them perched on the backs of cows in the pastures. I guess it's a lazy birds easy place to catch bugs.

There's also an island in South Louisiana (near where they make Tabasco sauce) that is a Egret sanctuary. The egrets are everywhere. Here's a youtube video of the birds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCDULDDYv_0

I love the VA beach pics and looks like you had great weather! :thumbsup2

The HHI villa looks nice as well and :woohoo: on your Disney trip being 1 month and 6 days away!!!

Edit: I just realised you have posted another update as well!! I have to agree in that the sunset pictures look stunning! Your dinner sounds great as well.

The sunset pictures are just amazing!
I'm with everybody else, HHI will certainly be visited in the future.
Too cool about the egret. I love being able to get close to wild animals, it just makes me feel one with nature.
The how far away signs are so cute!

What a gorgeous setting....love the sunset pictures and the pool and marina look beautiful. You must have been loving it with your uber awesome camera skills!!

We saw an egret on our walk to HS last month....he was just hanging out looking fake like they do :rolleyes1 It was funny because this summer Brielle got bit by a mosquito through her pants so she said it must have been a long nozzled mosquito....and that is what she called the egret....a long nozzled bird because of her long beak!! :rotfl2: The way we amuse ourselves ;)

I would imagine you would be a bit of a crabcake snob seeing your home locale....I know I would be!! Sounds like a fun dinner though and the bread and drinks looked good too :thumbsup2

What a bummer about the vodka :headache: I remember that happening to your chocolate wine. I think I would have cried! I just dropped a bottle the other day but thankfully it was empty

HHI look sgreat - it may need to be a destination of mine soon. Looks peaceful and relaxing but with plenty to do.

Sorry to hear about the alcohol. I hope you didn't spend too long mourning it loss. ;)

The drinks at dinner look yummy.

Wow! Your sunset pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I think I could get used to that view. :thumbsup2

It looks like a beautiful area. My wife and I were looking for a weekend getaway for just the 2 of us...I can get a room at HHI for $104/night in January. Should we book it? :confused3

Absolutely stunning pictures, particularly of the sunset. Someday...when I have a lot more time and a much older child, I will learn how to take really great photographs and hopefully I might be able to approach your level of photographic proficiency. :goodvibes And isn't it nice to find a place to eat that's just right at the right time?

Great pics MEK (as usual). You really know how to capture the real feel of a trip. We can enjoy your narrative and live vicariously through your report! Keep it coming.

Thanks Bill! I really hope you and your wife get to visit HHI very soon! It's the perfect outdoors/beach/relaxation spot. I hope you get your little surprise soon, too! ;)

HHI looks absolutely gorgeous!! Love your pictures!

Thanks! It really is a beautiful island. So different than any place I have ever traveled before. I really, really enjoyed it and I am planning a fall visit there two years from now. Seems so far away.

Ugh that stinks about the dropped liquor bottles! I'm sure that the pavement did smell very nice though! :rotfl:
The pavement smelled delicious. Like almost good enough to lick. YUCK! But, seriously, that good!
i am going to try again and buy another bottle to take for our Florida pool drinks! :rolleyes1

Can't wait to see more!

I am trying for two updates a week, so I promise to keep this going!

Oh my gosh I think I'm in love with Disney's HHI Resort!! We visit Myrtle Beach every summer and I just love it there and come on..south carolina AND disney?? I may be trying this out indeed!! :wizard:

I've never been to Myrtle Beach, but I've gotten the impression that its very touristy. HHI is probably just the opposite of touristy. But there is still a lot to do if you like outdoors and nature, which I know you do. Plus, wait till my next update. The main lodge has a big fishing theme that you should appreciate.

Gorgeous!!! Love the pictures from the pier! I really want to go to HHI now!!

It's really a perfect beach vacation. Absolutely loved it and I can't wait to go back!!!!!

The pier was so cool and the father/son fished out there all week.

Wow....Virginia Beach is beautiful; thanks for the photos, MEK.

You're welcome. VA Beach was really quite nice!

HHI Resort looks great! I'm glad it didn't take you quite as long as you feared it would to drive there. I think I remember you posting something on FB about not sleeping the night before.

I was absolutely dreading the drive and it was not nearly as bad as I feared. It was, dare I say, almost pleasant. Now I know what to expect the next time I go back, because there definitely will be a next time!

You got some really great pictures around the resort.

Thank you. Many more coming in the next update. :thumbsup2

There is a bird just like that on Marco Island and I swear we see the same one every year in the very same spot. :goodvibes

Isn't that crazy. I hever knew birds were like that. I saw him all week. That was his spot and he faught off other egrets to guard it. It was pretty comical.

Oh, no! What a bummer that you broke the bottle of lemonade vodka! I bet it was quite tasty!

If it tasted half as good as it smelled, then yes - that vodka would be on par with a grey goose slushie. When I finally DO get a chance to sample it, I will let you know how good it is.

Beautiful sunset pictures over the marsh! I :lovestruc the marsh, and what a gorgeous shot of the white ibis!

Well, if you saw my correction then you know that the bird in the picture was actually an egret, not a white ibis. Silly me, getting those birds confused. :rotfl: (Like I know anything about birds)

What gorgeous pictures! :cloud9:

Thanks! :upsidedow

Too funny about the bird, he wasn't leaving his perch for anything.

I swear, I wanted to reach out and pet him. His feathers looked so soft and fluffy. He really was beautiful and that was HIS perch. It was comical watching him defend his perch. Pretty cool stuff.

Sorry about the vodka, I hate when stuff like that happens!

It was pretty annoying since you would have thought I'd have learned my lesson the first time. :sad2: Well, one there for sure, I will not do something that dumb again.

I see your tickers says you are 20 weeks. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: You are half way through. You must be so excited. congrats!!!!!!!

Yep! Half way through. I'm very happy about that....but that Canteloupe is REALLY freaking me out. Last weeks mango looked a lot less harmful. :rotfl2:
