They Should Make Margaritas a Snack Credit! - September 2011 Dining Review

So we’ve only got ten days to go before jumping on a plane (in a calm and organized manner, natch) and heading down to WDW for 9 amazing days celebrating our 3rd Anniversary as well as my dad’s legacy. Since I was crazy enough to sign up for the Deluxe Dining plan we have a LOT of ADRs scheduled, and I figured why not write up a Dining Review to go along with my Trip Report?

I will spare you all the gory details on myself and my partner in crime (all you want to see is the Food Porn, you can admit it…:lmao:) but if you’re bored, head on over to our PTR: Rolex Vacation: Timex Budget

The 30,000 foot overview? (“Wait”, you scream, “you said only food reviews here, no backstory!!” Yes, I lied. I do that.:rolleyes1)

Me: I’m Jen, 29 years old (+3) and I’m an engineer. With a lower-case “e”. That means my title is Solutions Engineer, but I never got an EE degree. Or any degree, actually. I work in the IT industry for a major hosting provider. I also love Disney. (I secretly still want to provide the voice of a Disney Princess one day….all those years of singing along to Ariel have to be worth something!princess:)

(Yes, that is my dad giving me bunny ears...:)

My DH: Mike (35) is also in the IT industry. His job basically is to fix all the problems I create in my design. He is also a former Army Infantry soldier and National Guardsman. Though he hasn’t been in the Service for a few years now, he still has that “presence” about him. (You might understand what I mean when you see a picture of him…)

Why Disney?: My father passed away in January of this year. He worked for Kodak while I was a kid, and we went to Disney all the time, almost every other year. He gave me a love of all things Mouse since I was only 3 years old… among many other blessings. A few weeks after the funeral, we decided we would go to celebrate his life along with our 3 Year Wedding anniversary this September. So here we are!

And a pic of me and my dad many many moons ago:

There you go, now the boring stuff is out of the way….up next, the TOC… otherwise known as the “Where Jen May-Or-May-Not-Eat List”.:goodvibes

I promise to be truthful, I also promise to try and take LOTS of pictures of uneaten food. (see earlier comment about me lying….)

Oh, did I mention we’re Drinking Around the World one day of our trip?:drinking1

*Drools*

I'm here!

You should see if you can get a jumbled up font for Drinking Around the World. Unfortunately, I know the availability of DIS fonts is limited.

Will you be adding reports on the Yacht Club CL offerings (she asks selfishly)?

Dee

Your dining list looks fantastic. Hope you have a great time:goodvibes

Thanks so much! I can't wait to experience it all....and then share it with everyone here. :goodvibes I've gotten so many great ideas from the DisBoards in regards to where to eat, etc, it's a great place to get info.

Hope you enjoy the report!

Yay, welcome Dee, glad you came over.:goodvibes Hmm... you know, the font *is* an issue with DIS, but now you've given me a challenge. Perhaps the idea will come to me while we're actually partaking in the Drinking Around the World Day:lmao:.

As for the report on the CL offerings, of course! (Though YC for us this time, not BC...) Also, I'm sending you a PM, thought I'd offer up my photography and/or sleuthing skills for anything you need on the BC/YC board.:thumbsup2

I'm in! Can't wait to read your reviews! :cool1:

Yay! Welcome over here! I can't wait to EAT!

Ha... did I mention my diet fell through completely? I feel in better shape now, but didn't drop a pound from when I started!:rotfl2:

Right, Yacht Club. Edited my original post. True story: as I was drifting off to sleep last night, all of a sudden it hit me- "Jen is staying YC!"

Thanks for the PM. Hope you don't mind me replying here. I'm out of space in my PMs in and out boxes!

Pixarmom just completed a bunch of photo requests last week, but she was staying YC. I think the biggest thing I am missing is pictures from inside the YC CL and the food there (which should be much like the BC offerings), so lounge photos would be very helpful.

Eventually I would like to add a post of Food Porn from just YC/BC restaurants to the thread, but no idea when I will have time to do that. You can only have 25 images (pictures, smilies, etc) per post, and I have maxed out on the "Dining" section of the thread. So I may be very interested in Yachtsman pics.

Thanks!!!

Hey girl! Followed you over from my TR...now I'm going back to read:thumbsup2

Great start! First, my condolences, we lost my mom right before our trip and the best thing we did was go! We celebrated her life while we were there, just like you're going to do but for your dad!

Your list looks great....I laughed about the uneaten food comment, Jasmine had to constantly remind me to take pictures of our food before I started eating!!

I think that's about the time when my brain remembers things it decided to overlook during the day. Funniest time that ever happened to me was during Lent one year, I had been super good on Friday, then we went down to stay at a bed and breakfast. Made it all the way through the day, dinner, you name it, really proud of myself.

Then, at about 11pm, just as I was falling asleep I sat straight up in bed and exclaimed "oh no! I ate beef jerky!!!!"

Mike just grumbled "wondered when you'd figure that out" and fell back alseep!:rotfl2:

No worries on the PM front, I need to clean mine out sometime soon as well. I'll get pictures of the CL and Yachtsman, at least. The way I look at it, you don't have to use all of them, so better to have more than not enough. Man, I am so glad digital cameras were invented....

:welcome:

Thanks for coming on over! And I'm sorry for your loss as well. It's hard to deal with, but I think revisiting places that brought so many good memories with them? That's a good way to heal.

Yeah, I suspect there will be a few pics with one bite out of the meal... that "whoops" moment. :rotfl:

I'm following along! Getting HUNGRY already!!! popcorn::

Hey you, thanks for coming over!

I know, I'm working on my "Must Try Snacks" list right now.... OMG I am HUNGRY! Gimme some of that popcorn! :rotfl2:popcorn::

Great line up of dining! Cannot wait to read all about it

I'm joining and can't wait to see pics of all the yummy food! :thumbsup2

Woo hoo! :cool1: Glad you're here, Tanz! What are you at now, 5 days? Soooo exciting!

What a great line up! I will be waiting for your review.
Happy Anniversary!!!

Thanks and welcome! I can't believe it's been three years already since I became a Mrs.... and what a wonderful way to celebrate by eating like crazy!:goodvibes

Great line up of dining! Cannot wait to read all about it

Thanks for joining in! I'm looking forward to sharing!

4 days today!!!! It sure is exciting - am busy over the weekend but then would love for Monday to just fly by and not drag. At least I have these boards to keep me occupied!

Good morning everyone!

We leave in just 5 days for (hopefully) sunny Florida! :cool1:

I've got a list together of snacks we'd like to try (and review, of course...) that I though I'd share.

Dole Whip (Yes, I've never had one, odd, I know!)
Sweet Creme Cheese Pretzel
Crepes! (any and all.....LOVE crepes...)
Chocolate Caramel Cupcake
Soft Pretzel in Germany
Churros
Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Pretzel (Yes, I love pretzels... noticed? :lmao:)

Any other suggestions of snacks that you would advise we try?:confused3

Hope you enjoy your pretzels at Disney World!

I have a few other snacks (though am not sure if you want to try them or not)

Carrot Cookie Cake
Starring Rolls cupcake
Ice cream cookie sandwich
Mickey Ice Cream bar
Popcorn (have heard this is delicious!)

Have a great time munching your way through all the yummy food and look forward to reading the review :goodvibes

I'm here! Can't wait to read your reviews!

As for snacks, I'm sad to say I was disappointed with the cupcake from Karamel-Kuche. :sad1: The frosting was lard and sugar, not buttercream. And I wish it had more caramel. Now, that's not to say you shouldn't try it... 'cause you might like it! But I didn't. :sad2:
