Shhhh! Mickey's Twying to Sweep, be Quiet! - A July '11 Anniversary TR - Update 12/24

DH was reading your TR over my shoulder last night and he was looking at the Pooh queue pictures and said he didn't remember that area... I told him that ride was closed the last time we were there... And that Haunted Mansion queue has also been changed/updated... His reply was...

"Hmmm, guess we need to go back then"... :cool1:

So glad I found your TR. I am absolutely loving it! How great that your parents have been married for 40 years. That is definitely reason to celebrate!!!! Your nephew is just too cute! I love the picture where he is so intently playing his Leapster. He is really concentrating!! Sorry to hear that the minivans air was broken in the back. That must have been miserable in the Orlando heat.
Cannot wait to read more! popcorn::

I'm glad you have come along!

He gets very serious when he does anything. It's too funny.

The minivan was miserable! What stunk is that I was the one all the way in the back all the time, so I felt it the most.

What a cutie! Subbing to follow along. I love all the cute little things he's said and done so far, but that "TeeTee, you're the best" was beyond sweet! Sounds like this was a fun trip. :goodvibes

Thanks for joining! It was a very fun trip. The "you're the best" comment was just icing on the cake for me that day.

Love how excited Joaquin is to watch Wishes and even after all that travelling he still had lots of energy!

Lol at Joaquin hugging a random stranger! I love all the kid-isms.

Yay on getting a high score on Buzz and I love how travelling with kids gives a totally different experience to when it's an adults only trip.

Well I would have had energy if I had a nice long nap on the plane too!

Traveling with kids is an experience, that's for sure. Get ready for the next day, we are adding another one too the mix. That's okay though. Adults had kids outnumbered 3 to 1. :lmao:

Haha, I'd be like "OKAY!"

Wow! That seemed like a long travel day. Thank goodness you had some pixie dust to carry you along when the Disney police were about to come riding through. It sounded like you were at the breaking point. And then you were about to eat Poor Wicket, not even knee deep in this TR. I'm guessing the POP food court made up for it! :-)

Then, you had Magic Kingdom! Joaquin's face during the Fireworks is just adorable. I love watching toddlers just stare mindlessly at Fireworks. And sorry about the whole thing with the stroller. It's not exactly easy to navigate those things sometimes especially in a thick crowd. Good thing you got through to Tomorrowland before it got real ugly.

LOL @ the Joaquin hugging story. I'm not sure who to feel bad for more the guy or Joaquin. I mean, Joaquin must've been terrified noticing he hugged a stranger and the guy, just minding his own business getting attacked by the kid, but seriously, the kid made an honest mistake and he just glares at him. So, I feel bad for Joaquin more :thumbsup2 And yeah, totally wondering how the girl feels about the guy now.

Once again, you amaze me with your ability to get a high score on Buzz Lightyear. I'm pretty sure that ride just hates me and is making sure that I can never get a decently high score :sad2:

Oh my gosh, those are just some adorable kidisms. The things they think up, just too cute... THE ADORABLE!!! Hahahaha And that was so sweet what he said to you before going to sleep. Total "AWWWWWW..." moment.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I know, it would have been a tragedy losing Wicket so early on, wouldn't it? The POP food court was definitely what saved him there.

This felt like the longest travel day ever. I think the only time I've had one longer is when we've driven. That tells you something.

You know, kids are funny. They're at a total disadvantage, because they only get to see us from the waist down. I could understand how many of us can look the same then. :lmao:

What a long day and Joaquin was amazing still having a grand ole time at night in the Magic Kingdom. He is too cute. Love the Kid-isms but the last one is special. You'll always remember that one.

I did not realize the Pop food court was so good. We stayed there in 2009 but never ate there except for breakfast which was nothing special. If we ever stay there again I'll have to give it a try.

:scared1: on the no AC in the back. I think my family may have staged a revolt on me if I had that happen. Hopefully the front AC was strong enough to reach to the back.

Wicket seems a little bit better behaved than the Yeti so far. I think the fear of being eaten may have put him in line. :)

I think I definitely will always remember that line. He actually said it several times on the trip.

I think what I like about POP is the fact that there are so many options to pick from. I'm used to staying at DVC, and their counter service selections are minimal at best. I like variety, that's for sure.

I like to put fear in people to keep them in line. :rolleyes1

I just read the beginning of your TR :) I'm glad I caught it at the beginning! Your nephew is the cutest thing EVER oh my goshhh. I was cracking up at the buzz lightyear hugging story :lmao: Love it. And that chicken penne Alfredo looks FANTASTIC! I think it may be because i got my wisdom teeth out today and i just want solid FOOD. :rotfl: Actually, no, I would eat that any day of the week. YUM!

Can't wait for the next update!!

Great first day! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it so far.

He's pretty stinkin' cute. Oh no poor thing having your wisdom teeth out. :sad2: I could totally understand wanting some solid food.

The Buzz incident (as it will heretofore be referred to) was pretty hysterical. And it's not the only time he did something like that......

OMG I love kid-isms! They are the best! And Joaquin is just so stinkin cute!!! :lovestruc

Thanks! I wish we were all as innocent as kids with the things that we say. But they sure are cute to listen to.

sounds like you had a great first day at Disney!! Sorry about the whole car drama and waiting for the bags drama :( My friend was here a few weeks ago and we waited forever for her small duffle bag that they made her check since it didn't fit by the time she got on the plane :( But you made it and got the tickets and all is good now!!

Nothing will ruin my Disney trip, you know?

For all the times I've been there, this was really the only time that it was a problem, so I have no complaints in general.

But, as you said, in the end we made it, had tickets, and got into a park, so it all worked out.

So I did something. :goodvibes

So, you know that this trip was to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Well, their actual anniversary is on August 7th. So, their plan had been to have a weekend to themselves and head somewhere local for their actual anniversary.

Well, my dad's motorcycle needed some MAJOR repairs to it. Now, just so you understand, this is my dad's baby. It must be repaired and maintained. :rotfl:

So, the repairs were done, and were significantly more than they had anticipated. So this put a damper on their plans to get out of town on their anniversary.

So I started looking. I checked for hotels in locations that are driving distance from us. Nicer places that you could spend time in, since it was their getaway. I wanted to surprise them since they were going to be cancelling.

And then I started thinking. Two nights at these resorts were pretty costly. The price of flights is not much more than that.......

So I booked them flights to Orlando for a Disney weekend from August 31st to September 4th.

It's a low cost alternative for them when you think about it. I paid for the flights. I called DVC and was able to get them a room on points at OKW for the four nights.

Much better than a weekend away locally, right? :cool2:

I'm going to demand my mom take photos and write a TR for this. :dance3:

EEEEEEEE That is SO exciting! Oh my gosh you are a FANTASTIC daughter haha. They are going to love love LOVE spending that time at Old Key West... that's my parents favorite resort. It's so relaxing and it's like going somewhere tropical and Disney at the same exact time! So great! :thumbsup2 Wow that's so sweet of you! How wonderful! :goodvibes

Awwww... so nice of you to book them a trip! :-) That's going to be such a nice getaway for their anniversary. Totally better than a week away locally :thumbsup2 Hope they have a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm happy I was able to do it for them.

They've stayed at OKW once before and really enjoyed it. I was hoping for the Boardwalk, only because they have not stayed there for more than one night. But it wasn't available for all four of the nights. :confused3

Wow, how nice of you to book them a trip!

Thanks! They're very excited and were surprised for sure.

I just couldn't justify spending the money on a place that's just "meh" when I could send them to their favorite place. ;)
