I know I've been away from here lately and I can't really post much on FB yet until details are finalized. I had been in a state of depression due to my current job. We've gone from 100+ people 3 years ago, now to about 6. Three people quit and their last day was this week. All of our IT and development talent are gone. They don't seem to care about who's left, won't tell us anything, promising us "details to come", etc. It's all a bunch of BS. I feel bad for my clients who are unaware of whats going on and my fellow employees that have decided to stick it out until the bitter end.

But two weeks ago, I submitted my resume' to a very large nationwide bank. I got a call a few days after submission for an interview. Interview went amazingly well. Everything I do currently, is what they're looking for, for the position they're trying to fill. The lady to interviewed me and I got along SO well, laughing and joking by the end of the interview. In fact, it didn't feel like the typical interview. The next day I had a call from the recruiter and asked when I could start. I'm going through all the typical background checks, employment and address verification, finger printing, etc. I should have the final word that everything checked out ok by end of week or next Monday. I'm already going through the onboarding process. I haven't turned in my two weeks until the checks come back ok and they tell me to turn in my two weeks to my current employeer.

Five months of serious depression, almost gone in an instant.

The company has the most amazing benefits package that I've ever seen. The two biggest things is that I got a nice pay increase and I get to work from home! Two things I honestly didn't expect, especially being able to work from hom. They're very big on the work vs home/life and balancing the two.

Now I just sit and bite my nails until the background checks come back as OK. Waiting is killing me.

Anyhoo....felt like it was a reason to come back to the forum and share. :)

Congratulations! :cool1:

Now about that FBI file.....:rolleyes1

Thank you! After I heard about the fingerprinting and background check, I'm sitting there thinking......ok, HAVE I been convicted of anything? I had to stop and think, which is really sad. I started to doubt myself and get paranoid that there's something out there they're going to find.

OH and other than the two things I'm most excited about being the pay and the working from home, I immediately got out my calendar and started figuring out our next Disneyland trip!

I might have been more excited about that. :rotfl:

Congratulations, You must be looking forward to giving your two week's notice.

I am an IT professional as well, and I know the pleasure of giving your notice, while so many jobs are being outsourced or companies are going through buyouts and mergers.

Yayy!!!

Good for you for going after something when you knew this was sucking the life out of you. Not an easy thing to do, but very freeing.

Good Luck in your newest endeavor!!!:cool1:

Congratulaions!

Wow, great news! I can only imagine what a lifted burden that must be!

Cool Beans.

I know exactly how you feel. The position I left, prior to my last job, was so bad I nearly skipped in to give my notice. By my last day, I think I had given away or taken home the entire contents of my desk, less one "emergency pencil". The IT guy was laughing hysterically as I turned over my laptop-I had to borrow his pen to sign the receipt; I'd given all mine away. (The office was notoriously bad with office supplies and budgets).

Working from home can change your life. No more commuting costs, you never have to take off work to meet the delivery/repair person, you can eat really healthy lunches, and you can do your laundry while working (so more free time nights or weekends). Not to mention working in your PJ's. :thumbsup2

A note on working at home.

When you have to come into work for a meeting or something. Do not complain to people that you aren't happy about coming in because you had to get dressed!

I run the Help Desk at my company, and one of our work from home women complained to me about having to get dressed to come in. Pass the brain bleach, please!

Wonderful news, Mr. Z!!!! Hoping all works out perfectly for you.
