Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Ah, Impressions De Marlene. I like it. She looks adorable in her beret. I think you should all wear them - like the Griswolds in European Vacation.

Oh, you made me think...it's a shame that after the Photobucket manipulation you can't still read that sign in the distance that says "Impressions de France".

I would definitely look waaay to much like Clark Griswold if I did that.

That's disappointing that no one wanted to play along with your phone game. Losers!

We'll find some playahs later!

Well, I understand how Judy must be feeling, calling an end to PChef. But teaching is such a demanding job - it would be really hard to keep it up, I think. No more free trips is kind of a bummer, though!

Thanks Rebecca. Yeah, major bummer. :sad1:

I like the original picture the best. She looks so happy with her purchase.

Interesting, that's a couple of votes for the original.

She loved getting that beret!

I'm here (haven't been on the DIS much); now I have to go back and read. I'll come back and comment later.

No problem Kathy, I understand. I've had a very busy last several days and am behind on pretty much every thread I've been following. Some I've been able to read but not post. Anyway, I'm getting caught up on my replies here this morning! :)

Hey, Mister, you've got some new readers! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

:woohoo: Isn't that great! I think going to a second thread actually helped that a little bit...it's kind of a fresh opportunity to jump in.

Hi Glenn! I'm here.....finally. Sorry I kinda missed the invite to the new thread until I looked today :rolleyes1 I'll have to catch up later cause I'm still at work but I will mention quickly, sorry to hear about Judy and no more PChef. I hope at least she enjoys her teaching!

Hello my Canadian friend! I probably need to bump that old thread a couple more times.

Judy is really enjoying teaching and doesn't regret doing it at all, just wishes she could have kept the PChef going. But, there are only so many hours in a day.

ETA: Okay work died down a bit so I got all caught up. I HAD NO IDEA YOU COULD CALL THE PHONE IN THE UK!!!! That's so cool! Sorry I got a bit excited there... but seriously. Too bad you didn't catch anyone actually answering the phone. Spoiled all your fun!

Yep. And being pay phones, the numbers are listed right there on the front of all of them throughout the World Showcase. So, more fun will be had!

I like the picture of Marlene in black and white the best

Good choice!

Glennbo, I can't believe that (a) your TR has requireed a whole second thread; and (b) by the time I figured this out, you were already on page 7 of thread 2. Sheesh!

In any case, congrats. I feel congrats are necessary here.

Nory! I'm glad you found us! No congrats are necessary, but thanks.

Also, I vote for the color Marlene. Though I think you should try a color Marlene with a b&w background, just for kicks.

Hey, good idea. How's this?

I'm not sure which picture of Marlene I like better, but I certainly love her beret and I love those pictures of France.

Yeah, I had a tough time deciding too. Thanks.

I love that you called on the phone booths and I can't believe that no one picked up. I found those numbers on someone else's TR and I have to put them in my phone for May because I want to try the same trick.

Really fun update. See what James missed. :upsidedow

Maybe I should post all of the numbers I either had or jotted down during my World Tour.

Yes, James missed out...but may get another opportunity.

Wow! It only took me all week to find my way over here! Well, my time on the boards have been cut back considerably these last few weeks.

Love your trip so far through World Showcase. On our trip we didn't get to spend much time in France since we wanted to see British Invasion so much. I think all we stopped off for was some Grey Goose Slushies and moved on. So sad considering I took 3 years of French. :sad2:

It looks like you had some wet weather around this time. I bet it was very moist. Still, Marlene looks like she enjoyed her one on one time with Dad!

and I didn't know about the phone booths. I will have to spring this on my kids someday. :thumbsup2

I had a phase in my early life when I was just a little obsessed with Gene Kelly's An American In Paris. So I am in sympathy with Marlene. Ah, France! What young girl wouldn't be lured in by the Beauty! The Romace! The Food!

I like the last image with the B/W background the best. It highlights Marlene beautifully, and I think nullifying the background colors makes it look more like the real France. Very Nice Work!

Also, I can't wait to call one of those phone booths.

This IS the one!!!!! Excellent job Glen. I am going to have to try that! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Believe it or not, I had to up the saturation on the color a little bit to get it to pop more.

Nice! Now she really shows up like the cutie she is!

Thanks for the suggestion Nory!

That's okay Tom, I'm glad you found the new thread. if you're like me I usually just check my subscribed threads so it can be easy to miss a new one. I had a very busy week last week too and was having trouble keeping up also. This coming week looks like it will only be slightly better.

I still haven't seen the France movie, so there's still more to explore for us. Hey, I took 3 years of Spanish but you won't catch me trying it out with the cast members in Mexico. Eso sería muy embarazoso, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que tuve que utilizar Google Translate sólo para escribir esta frase.

I'm having a little trouble remembering exactly what the weather was doing during this time. I see some ponchos in the pictures, but I don't think it rained hard. "Very moist" though, is a safe bet and I do know that it gets worse later.

I think I'll post all of the numbers I gathered in a later chapter.

The Gershwin! That's a good summary....and when you threw "food" in there, even my ears perked up.

Thanks...it's kind of fun to play around with some of the effects in Photobucket.

Like I mentioned to SurfinTX, I'll list all of the phone numbers I collected in a later chapter.

Geez louise, I need to start paying better attention! I didn't realize you were starting a sequel to your TR!
Way to go Glennbo for needing to start another. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Ooooooh, now I really like this one! Sweet Marlene just pops against that black & white background:goodvibes. I vote for this one over the original.:thumbsup2 Love her expression too.

Actually not at all. I figured out the Spanish I learned in school was Proper Spain Spanish and pretty useless when conversing with any one not from Spain.
Sad to say but that is when I stop paying attention in Spanish. I took 4 years and pretty much only feel confident in asking where the bathroom is. :rotfl2:

I can read Spanish well enough to pick out the general meaning of things. Yes I did get the jist of the phrase. I used Google translate to confirm. :thumbsup2

That's a wonderful tool. My DS may need to know about it. :rolleyes1

As soon as I saw the red phone booths I remembered that I had the number for one of them programmed into my cell phone.

I have all three of the numbers for the England phone booths if anyone wants them, sounds like Glenn has all of them as well. Very cool! I really wanted to get one of my kids to answer but they were never together in England. I also wanted to throw on my best British accent and surprise someone in the park....I just never had the guts to do it.

I think my favorite is the Marlene-in-black-and-white, but Judy likes the color one better. I have no idea which Marlene likes! Anyway, which one do you like better?

COLOR :goodvibes

Me too! As soon as I set foot in World Showcase I feel the urge to run to France and spend lots of money there... the only difference is that I spend it on the Boulangerie Patisserie :rotfl:

::yes:: Mmmmmmm Hmmmm. Especially the Napoleon! Can you say.....

OH.........My.........Gosh that's good!

Hey Camille! Yeah, you know how these people like to talk.

:goodvibes I sure do. Bless their little talkin hearts. :lovestruc

Well, since Rosie is old enough to be Ma Kettle, I guess I will take the Pot (but I won't inhale........):rolleyes1
Sorry, I left my spoon in Norway on our last trip!!! ;)
:scared1:
And you thought I was your problem child........ :lmao:
I know that was a tough decision for Judy since I know with things like that you not only make some really good business associates, but also some good friends! On the bright side, you guys don't have to plan around PChef trips any more so you can schedule your visits to Disney when we will also be at Kidani and Judy will get to see me more. :)

As for that last part of your update, I will be back to comment later when I've had the chance to finish reading it.........

So you could insult me in private the last few days:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

I have got to start replies to all I have read so far before I forget !!!No snide comments Marv!!! First I spied 8 Marlenes !!!

Hope the Teaching job goes well for Judy!!

I want that phone number before August PLEESE

I like that one too.

Thanks. It's pretty neat, but I still like the color background.

"Reading" and "conversing" are two entirely different things!

That's a wonderful tool. My DS may need to know about it. :rolleyes1

Soon we won't need to learn a language -- there'll be an app for it.

I only have one for the UK, but also one for Morocco and one for Germany.

A very popular response!

Never had one, but it sounds good.

Did I miss something?

And ya thought you could escape Rosie !!!!!See I found ya !!!

Hi Rosie! Glad you found us.

So you could insult me in private the last few days:rolleyes1:rotfl2:

Not me!

You can be safe and just put "No snide comments Marv!" in your signature.

Hope the Teaching job goes well for Judy!!

Thanks Rosie. It's gone well so far.

I think I'll just put the numbers in the next update.

Would a Chuy Margarita make it dejavu? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can figure out way more Spanish than I claim to be able to speak. :lmao:

That's always the case.

Donde esta el cuarto de bano? ( i can't do all the correct accents and ? marks )

Of course after my DS has his hissie fit over Spanish. :lmao:

Did I miss something?

That's always the case.

Camille and I were fortunate enough to have dinner together while I was in Houston in Oct. We ate at Chuy's ( Mexican) and surrounded by all the Spanish influence it came up. I always put the disclaimer out about me not being able to speak Spanish because I look as though I should know how to speak the language. :rolleyes1 Yet I am spaz and can only fake "spanglish" :rotfl2: Knowo whato I meano?

Impressive. However, that's a lot more words than are necessary, with the right body language.....if you raise your eyebrows real high and dance/tiptoe a lot, all you have to say is "Bano?" and people will immediately point the way. ;)
