Inching My Way Closer to the Castle Final thoughts/future trips 4/2p90 The End 4/4p92

When I woke up on Day 6 the first thing I remember thinking is, "Boy did I drink a lot last night" I seriously don't remember much about the monorail ride home. I think we just missed one at Epcot and then basically had the whole car to ourselves. I don't think I passed out, but only Jen can answer that for sure.

Since it was my last day at Disney, I knew I had to run one more time on my private path. I was a tad hungover, but I find that a good run in the morning actually makes me feel better and hastens my hangover time.

It was a perfect morning. I set out just as the sun was rising, so when I got to the end of the path I was able to sit there and watch a perfectly gorgeous sunrise. It was one of those times when I really, really wanted my camera. I remember thinking, "Someday I will come back here to stay at BLT and I will walk all the way to the end of this path so I can take a picture of the sunrise over the Seven Seas Lagoon.

I could have sat there for awhile, but a major rule in running is Never Stop Too Long! Once that adrenaline is gone, its a heck of a lot harder to get back. So I took a few cell phone pics, turned on my heels, and headed back to the room.

I don't remember much about packing, but I do remember that Jen's special battery had finally arrived and could be found in the business center. Wherever the heck that was? I managed to get packed a lot quicker than Jen, because she still had her owner's locker to pack up. I offered to go look for the Business Center, which proved not to be an easy task.

I asked someone at concierge, but their directions were terrible and I ended up walking in circles until I found someone else to ask. Their directions led me to an entrance near, what I can only assume, was the conference center. There were lots of suits in there - boy suits and girl suits - and I suddenly felt WAY out of place. It was strange. There I was in my Disney crocs, casual shorts and top, around all these finely dressed people.

I think I asked directions one more time and then, finally, I found the business center....I mean the closet called the Business Center. Without much of a wait, at last I had that elusive battery in my hot little hands.

When I got back to the room Jen was still packing. :scared1: What had she been doing for the 45 minutes I was on a wild goose hunt? No, seriously, I wasn't gone that long but it seemed like it took forever.

Jen called to have her Owner's locker removed and then we took all our luggage to be stored. Finally, at around 9:30 or so we headed to the bus stop. There was one park that we hadn't visited yet and that was HS. We were late, but you know what they say about Better Later than....oh, never mind.

I do believe that just as we were walking up a bus pulled away, leaving for HS. Bummer. Talk about bad timing! I didn't mind at the time because my older son had just sent me a text that said "I feel really sick. I need to leave school". Ok - that is not the text you want to get when you're on vacation. So there was a lot more texting involved so I could figure out whether my son had bacterial meningitis or simply the common cold. In actuality, his illness was somewhere in between death and the sniffles, but I ended up having to call the school and getting him dismissed early. That was after I was sure he was safe to drive home. ugghhhhhh! KIDS! Notice that I get the call 1000 miles away while his father was having an uninterrupted work day.

So We sat and started to wait....and wait....and WAIT!

I passed the time by taking random pictures of....

What Can I Say? I am not a patient person and I get bored very easily.

Finally, approximately 15 or 20 buses later, heading to every other destination in Disney, a HS bus showed up. I think we waited just shy of an hour. By the time the bus came there were not enough seats for everyone. It was just WRONG! Say what you want about the value resorts, but I have never waited anywhere close to that long for a bus. When we finally got into the park it was 11am! Yikes!

So where did we run when we finally got to HS? Did we stand in a 45 minute line for TSM, did we get FP's for ToT? RnR?

I'll save you the agony of figuring out that answer. We went to ......Are you ready?????

GUEST SERVICES.

Yes, that's right. You see, as I was staring at my AP on the bus ride from hell I noticed that my AP expired September 21st. I remember thinking how great this was and I wondered why I had actually given been 10 extra days on my AP. That is, until I realized my expiration date was September 2010, NOT 2011!!!!!?????!!!!!! :scared1:

Oh crap.... What the heck was that all about?????

Up Next....Did my AP get straightened out and where did we finally head first in HS?

LOL..why yes you did get bored LOL!! Some VERY interesting pictures LOL! Although I do have to say the tattoos were very cool!!!

Glad you finally made it to HS, wow an hour wait for a bus that is just crazy!!!

OY...hope you were able to get everything worked out on your AP!!! Can't wait to hear more!!

I had my camera already in my hand and was fooling around with it when the tattoo people arrived. That's how I managed to get those pictures inconspicuously.

Glad you finally made it to HS, wow an hour wait for a bus that is just crazy!!!

It was bad and very annoying. We really should have been walking into that park at 10am, not 11.

OY...hope you were able to get everything worked out on your AP!!! Can't wait to hear more!!
:rolleyes1

Almost an hour for a bus on your last morning?! That is just wrong! Between that, our sick son and your hunt around the resort your day isn't off to a great start! I hope it gets better! :goodvibes

OMG Dawn - I just noticed your tickers and they are beautiful. I love them!!!!

Yeah - my day did not start off well and I was a bit of a grumpy-grump when we first got into the park. I hated having that feeling, but after lunch I felt better and our day actually turned out to be a good one. We had considered just hoping the monorail and going back to Epcot, but we had waited SOOOOOOOO long that we kept thinking that the bus would come any moment.

At least you getting bored provides us with lots of fun pictures!
:rotfl: I couldn't help it. Those tattoos where just calling to me. Look at that last shot. I zoomed in to the point where I got the hair follicles on his legs. I think I would make a great paparazzi! ;)

I am so confused by your AP dates...:confused3

I will explain what happened in my next update, but seriously, if I had not realized those dates were screwed up I'm not sure if I would have been able to fix it for my May trip. I learned a very valuable lesson. Always check your dates!

LOL, love the pictures you took when you were bored, I do the same thing, but I never get anything interesting! I can't believe you had to wait so long for the bus!

Hope you got your AP situation straightened out!

:

I think I just lucked out on getting some interesting subject matter. I couldn't let that go to waste now, could I?

Waiting for the bus was ridiculous. No other word for it. All these other buses pulling up and no one getting on them. Weird.

Hope you got your AP situation straightened out!

I did, but it had some interesting twists! popcorn::

Is that REALLY someone scratching their hiney.??!! REEALLY!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: OMG! I can hardly contain my belly laughs!

AP drama!! :scared1: This I can't wait for!...

I like the picture of the guy who was seemingly parasailing into BLT (is that BLT in the picture?).

And that one guy's leg tattoo was Alice in Wonderland!

I like tattoos - even sleeves on the ams and legs, but the demented Alice tattoo is a bit scary!!

The butt picking one though...oh, no you didn't! Mary Ellen!

What a mess with the bus! Did they have a CM working there??? What was going on?! Ugh. And then to have to go straight to Guest Services...annoying. :sad2:

Can you believe it? Crowded bus stop. Perhaps no one will notice. :rolleyes1 I can't believe I got the picture so perfectly. I really should be a paparazzi stalking celebs!

Oh the AP Drama! All I can say is Thank God I checked those dates! :sad2:

I like the picture of the guy who was seemingly parasailing into BLT (is that BLT in the picture?).

I had an obsession with parasailers this trip. I took so many pictures of them. Yes, he does look like he's ready to crash into BLT.

And that one guy's leg tattoo was Alice in Wonderland!

Seriously, Glenn, you are GOOD! I never would have figured that out. It looks like some crazy dutch girl to me. :rotfl2:

I like tattoos - even sleeves on the ams and legs, but the demented Alice tattoo is a bit scary!!

demented Alice! :rotfl:Why would you ever want that on your leg? Seriously? :confused3

The butt picking one though...oh, no you didn't! Mary Ellen!

Oh, Yes I did. I guess it was pretty wrong of me and I hope its not an innocent DISer who recognizes themselves.

What a mess with the bus! Did they have a CM working there??? What was going on?! Ugh. And then to have to go straight to Guest Services...annoying. :sad2:

We started telling the other bus drivers, but it seemed like there was nothing they could do or where even interested in. I really don't know what the problem was, but I hope it doesn't happen to you in a few weeks.

There is a slight story to the butt picking picture: she was sitting on a bench with a "wet paint" sign on it, and guess what happened? She got paint on her butt - surprise!

OK! Day 6; bring it on.

WDW packing sucks. Whether it's packing to leave your house or packing to leave WDW it's never easy or fun. Why is that? Oh c'mon, did it take me that long to pack? Couldn't have, really. Ok, maybe it did but I don't believe you

I do remember MEK going to the business center which seemed to be buried somewhere unfindable. And I packed those batteries in my OL! So now I have them for next time!

One last balcony pic:
9-10_WDW_503.jpg

Then there is the bus wait... ugh. Bus wait times are always hit or miss in WDW. I've never had a trip with totally smooth WDW transportation. Why should this trip be any different? I agree, the bus that departed as we arrived was a DHS bus, then we saw an MK bus, and DTD bus, and then MK, DTD, AK, MK, DTD, MK, DTD, MK, MK, DTD, AK..... ***? And I'm not exaggerating! People are starting to get upset, the bus drivers are starting to wonder why no one is getting on the bus but starting to pile up at the bus stop. We tell them that we've seen 4 MK buses and 4 DTD buses but NO DHS buses, and it has the EMH that morning! Does telling the bus drivers do anything? I'd love somone who wears the Purple Pants to answer and tell me how this type of bus debacle happens.

FINALLY we made it to DHS and MEK noticed the AP issue (thank goodness she did!)

9-10_WDW_502.jpg

9-10_WDW_501.jpg

I'll leave you with that until MEK gets back here.

::yes::

I forgot about that. Well, at least the point matched! :rotfl:

This is EXACTLY what happened and if it hadn't been so frustrating, it would have been comical.

So I am usually leaving the house now on Sunday mornings to go to church. But, I was assigned the Saturday night mass yesterday (for music), so I am FREE this morning and it feels pretty good for a change. So good, that I think I'll pick up where I left off with the AP Drama.

As you recall, I was so bored, after waiting 55 minutes for a bus, and so anxious to get into HS that I pulled my AP out and started examining it - hard. That's when I noticed something peculiar. It said my expiration date was September 24. I handed it to Jen and said "Look - my AP should expire September 12, but it says September 24". Jen took the AP from my hand and said "2010, not 2011" . Thanks Jen. Since my brain cells were still not 100% I failed to see that important piece of information.

WHHHHHHAAAAAAATTTTTT? If there was ever a reason to use this smilie, its now:scared1:

For crying out loud, what the heck?

So we did the bag shuffle and made our way into HS. Yes - it was an EMH so the place was packed. I knew this when we planned our trip, but we let it go. It wasn't our priority park so we didn't care. However, I will NOT do that again. We had been graced with really low crowds all week and this was a shock to our systems. Neither one of us love HS, but I do like to visit to do the thrill rides and TSM. We knew TSM was out of the question, but I guess I didn't expect such big crowds.

My first stop was obviously Guest Services. Jen set off to have some hats made. Fortunately guest services was not very crowded. I explained my situation to the CM who seemed equally perplexed at first.

Here's the situation.

I upgraded a 1 day park pass from September 2009. It was part of a free dining package.

I went INSIDE the MK to do this.

Big Mistake.

The short end of the story (and 20-25 minutes later) was that the CM who did my upgrade reverted my AP start date back to September 25, 2009 - The start of my free dining trip. (I didn't use the ticket then cause I was still on another AP).

I felt sorry for the new CM who had to figure this all out. It required her to go in the back for quite awhile. I was seriously starting to get worried because this obviously was not a quick fix.

Naturally, while she did I was "forced" to take pictures of the photos and posters they had hanging.

I loved the old photos of the Hollywood Hills. If you ever stop in Guest Services, make sure you take a look at them. It's just amazing to see how much as changed. Naturally, my pics did not turn out well since they were all black and white.

IMG_9897.jpg

Does anyone recognize the Hollywood Freeway here?

IMG_9896.jpg

If you love historical Disney, this is a cool place. I enjoyed gazing at these posters. It took my mind off the fact that my AP was in jeopardy and I certainly didn't have the credit card receipt on me to prove I paid for an AP upgrade on September 12th.

IMG_9898.jpg

IMG_9899.jpg

IMG_9900.jpg

IMG_9901_2.jpg

Finally, FINALLY the CM emerged with my new AP. She explained to me what had happened and told me that in the future I should have the AP upgrade done outside the park. She also admitted that the CM who did my upgrade should have known I was not going to pay that amount of $ for essentially a 2 week AP.

I am so thankful that I recognized the error right away. Can you imagine if I tucked my card away and never looked at it again? I would be sooooooooooo "insert expletive here" for my May trip. I really don't know what they would have done to help me then. Fortunately, I charged it so my credit card so that statement would have helped.

So a very important lesson learned, I set off to find Jen who was, fortunately, still busy ordering hats. Did you think I got lost Jen?

I wasn't in the greatest mood at this point - the wait, the crowds, the heat, the AP drama, the texts from my kids - so I put my head behind the camera and took more pictures.

IMG_9907.jpg

Jen finished her order and we regrouped to determine our agenda. We basically had none. I think we decided to pick up FP's for whichever ride had the shortest wait time. That turned out to be ToT.

Naturally, with no clear cut agenda in mind, we started taking LOTS of pictures.

IMG_9913.jpg

I may have still been a touch hung-over, and I was definitely in not the greatest mood, but I do think some of my pictures turned out really well today!

IMG_9915.jpg

IMG_9916.jpg

IMG_9917.jpg

IMG_9920.jpg

Oh - Yes - I think it was also a Fantasmic night, so I am sure that up-ed the crowds, too.

I believe we checked the wait time for RnR, but it was long enough that we didn't feel inclined to wait (we had already done enough of that).

IMG_9921.jpg

FPs for ToT in hand, we walked back up the boulevard in search of some food.

IMG_9922.jpg

IMG_9923.jpg

All the signs were starting to entice us.

IMG_9924.jpg

Continued in Next Post.....

Our Next stop was Goofy's Candy shop where Jen finally found the giant rice krispy treats that she had been hankering for.

IMG_9925.jpg

But our trip was over, so I don't think she bought it.

Talk about a sugar fix.....

IMG_9927.jpg

I believe this next picture was actually taken in the store. It must have been part of the wall. Pretty....

IMG_9926.jpg

I needed something much more substantial than candy fix, so we set off in search of eats.

I know people rave about Starring Rolls and if it hadn't been 90 degrees, I certainly would have enjoyed that option. These tables looked so inviting.

IMG_9929.jpg

I have a thing about umbrellas...

IMG_9930.jpg

IMG_9931.jpg

I really never noticed all the detail in this building before.

IMG_9933.jpg

Love this map

IMG_9935.jpg

I think Glenn inspired me to dig a little deeper with the photobucket edits, and I really didn't like this picture much, so I changed it....

IMG_9936-1.jpg

Our Next stop was.....

IMG_9940.jpg

I seriously have no idea why I took pictures of the busts I did. You can see they are quite an eclectic group.

IMG_9942.jpg

IMG_9941.jpg

IMG_9938.jpg

This does not look at all like Oprah Winfrey. I mean, Come on?

IMG_9939.jpg

What can I say? Photobucket edits can be quite addictive (and useful fo covering anatomical correct parts possibly not appropriate for the DIS)

IMG_9943-1.jpg

Hi At -At. I can't wait until you are up and running again!

IMG_9944.jpg

As we all know, counter service options in HS are limited. Jen and I decided to eat at Studio Catering Company (I think).

Boring Interior, to say the least

IMG_9951.jpg

I had the basic cheeseburger, so I did not photograph that as it is BORING. Jen had this....

IMG_9945.jpg

I am going to take a guess that this is....Pressed Tuscan Deli - shaved smoked ham, smoked breast of turkey, provolone, Caesar dressing and Pesto marinated vine ripe tomatoes on a Tuscan Roll, served with apple slices or French Fries $8.49

Of course, I could also be way off.

I took a picture of the cups because I thought they were really cute and I don't remember seeing them at the other parks. Again, I could be wrong. Last day and all. :confused3

IMG_9946.jpg

I felt much better after lunch. That's what carbs, fat and protein will do for you. With FP's in hand Jen and I set off to ride......

IMG_9953.jpg

Yes, that IS Jen in the front seat with her arms WAY up.

Yes, that IS me beside her griping on for dear life.

But I am laughing and laughing is good!

IMG_9955.jpg

So that's all the photos I have over in photobucket right now.

When we return - More photos of HS and the rest of our departure day.

Oh - and Do Not Fear - we had a late flight so there is plenty more to this day! :thumbsup2

My goodness that was a long wait for a bus. Good thing you had so many, er - entertaining, things to photograph. ;) On my last couple of trips there has been, more often than not, a CM at the bus stop at the resort (at least for the prime hours). He/she has been playing games with the kids, trivia with the adults and has a way of contacting "dispatch" to find out when the next bus will be. Hopefully that is a trend. I do think they're trying! I know lots of people like renting a car but I am all about letting Disney do the driving!

Holy AP drama. :faint: That would have freaked me out!

I think your pictures turned out great this day! HS isn't my favorite park either. In fact, I think it may be my least favorite. But you just reminded me that I'm looking forward to seeing the changes to One Man's Dream and I am crossing my fingers and hoping that maybe, just maybe, Star Tours might be doing an unofficial open/previews when we're there!

Jen- totally agree. Packing stinks. I do love that owner's locker, though!
