Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC RESORT Family Suites Information & Questions

We have a trip planned first of the year; can't wait to stay in the Family Suities! Linda is a great source of info about the suites and we love this thread. Can't wait!!!!

Thank you so much for this thread. We were going to stay at POR but after reading this and seeing pictures I am switching. So much more room and 2 bathrooms is a HUGE seller for a fam of 5:thumbsup2

We are only 42 days from checking in and can't wait to stay in the suites... Does anyone know know what size the coffepots are? They look to be 4 cup but can't really tell from the pictures. Thanks !:woohoo:

Yes, they are a 4 cup coffee pot.

So excited!!! We just booked the Family Suite for our first trip to WDW next September!!! 14 nights with free dining!!!

We are thinking about staying here during Free Dining in June. Going back to read everything.

We are booked in with the family suites in January - love the idea of having that extra space, 2 bathrooms, ahhhh....

One question about the pool side bar at the resort, how late does it stay open?

I really hope to stay in the family suites in ASM! for Dec 10-12 2010! I think we will take the Family suites at ASM!

I am leaning toward staying here for our next trip- hopefully in December, maybe January... are the resort pools still open in December and January? What about the water parks? (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon)? Thanks for all the info-- this is a great thread! :goodvibes

I've been several times in Dec & Jan and you never really know what kind of weather you might get. I have to say the best weather I have ever had of any of my nearly 30 trips was in January-nice warm days-low 80s and cooler nights but even then I didn't need a jacket. Crystal blue skys and no humidity-just perfect. Then again about the worst weather I've ever had was also in January-rain is bad enough in August in a tropical storm but rain with 50 degree temps during the day and down into the 30s at night doesn't make for fun park touring weather.

So on at least 4 Dec/Jan trips I've had highs in the 80s and lows in the 30s on the same trip. You have to bring a bit of everything for clothes-dress in layers. On all of those trips my kids did go in the pool at least once.

The pools are heated.

There is always one water park open but from Nov through Feb they close one water park to do a renovation then they close the other park to do its renovation.

We stayed at the Family Suites one time. I really enjoyed the layout of the suites.:thumbsup2

Thank you! Good to know. I would probably not get the water park feature (or park hopper-never use that anyway) added onto our tickets, and just use the pools then. With my luck it would be freezing and would end up being a waste of money ;)
Is it wrong, and a little crazy, that I have been back from WDW all of 2 days and already planning my next trip? :lmao::rolleyes1

You can add either of those ticket features at any time with in the first 14 days of use so if it is really hot and you decide you want the water park feature you can add it on. My kids were quite happy with the pools at ASMu.

I almost always have my next trip booked before I go on a trip. I hurt my foot on a trip in May but couldn't have surgery until after my already booked trip in July. I had surgery 5 days after I got home. I didn't have a trip booked until last Sunday when Jet Blue extended their schedule through 9/6/11. I went 3 months without a trip booked and will still wait another 6 months before my next trip. I haven't gone that long between trips in years. I am having my other foot operated on 11/22-bunions. Probably should have done it years ago but when they really started interfering with my Disney touring I knew I had to get them fixed.:rotfl: All my coworkers think I'm crazy but it is my escape from reality.:thumbsup2

We are staying at the ASM family suites in January 2011 and just wondered if people usually bring snacks or breakfast foods to eat while there? What do you bring?? We have a 3 hour flight..so it has to be packable! thanks:goodvibes

Sure! You can pack granola bars, etc. or ship to your resort (we used UPS Ground). You can also use a grocery delivery service, wegoshop.com or gardengrocer.com, and get some perishables, like milk and fruit.

We liked having breakfast in the room - saves time and money!

I have done both www.gardengrocer.com and used www.minimus.biz Minimus does all sorts of travel size and single serving size items. They do personal care products and have a huge selection of cereal in bowls. They have free shipping for orders over $20 so I have it shipped right to the resort. They are on the west coast so I order 2 weeks before my trip to be sure it is there when I arrive.

I followed this thread up until my last trip at the end of Sept. We had 5 people, basically 2 families in the suite. We loved it! My friend has fibromyalgia and I had planned on letting her sleep where ever she felt best. First night she started on the pull out couch and stayed there for the whole trip. She said it was comfortable and didn't add to her pain.

My DD (13 and 5' 7") slept on the ottoman one night and said it was comfortable also.

The privacy curtains were great by the bathrooms, since there was also a 13 year old boy there.

Overall, we loved them! Only down side was the one day I forgot to leave a tip and a note for mousekeeping, they "punished" us. We had towels left on the floor, no restocking of shampoo, soap, or coffee! I went to front desk and they ordered them for us, but they never showed up either. Thank goodness for my refillable cup...I need my coffee, especially when it is 7am!

We had planned on staying at POR, since it was a little bit cheaper, but the suite was SO much better.

The food court was just OK. We had a rental car and actually drove over to POP to eat one night. My friends couldn't believe how many choices for food they had over there.
