DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

ITA about TOT - best theming and the ride is awesome too!!!

I don't like curry AT ALL!!! And Sanaa was by far my favorite meal while we were there!!! Loved it!!!

Oh! I don't like curry either! I liked Boma for dinner, but the service and the wine I had were the best part :goodvibes For breakfast, it was pretty much the juice. I'm still open to trying Jiko or Sanaa - next time! :thumbsup2

I just wrote the whole freakin thing and photobucket shut down my internet, erasing everything!! GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:badpc::badpc::badpc:

Tracy- I think it depends what kind of curry you have. Curries are all different flavors and spices- not just that "curry" that comes in a bottle from McCormack- I was AMAZED the first time I had thai red curry in a restaurant, that I thought I would hate, and it turned out to be the most delicious thing! I hope you will try Sanaa with your friends, it really is incredible!:lovestruc

OK...back to the new post...

That's good to know. I always think of yellow curry, which to me tastes like socks! :rotfl2:

We did!! :goodvibes Ok- time to get some updates in- I'll be in WDW with Pods in less than a month!!!! ANd I need to do HHI, too!!!:scared1:

It is amazing how close the trips are. My house is getting excited! When does your crew go back to school?

Whoo Hooty! for Close trips!!!! October is a big month for alot of us!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Not too shabby either. :goodvibes Our plan was to go up to the room and round up Cammie & Pam and go for one last cocktail at the Bellvue room, and walk around the Boardwalk a little. We talked about Jellyrolls, but I think none of us had the energy for it. Cammie & Pam, though, were not going anywhere- Cammie had an early flight, and Pam likes to get up at 5:30, so they decided to be homebodies. So, after I switched cameras, we three amigas went on our own-

The Boardwalk is very, very pretty inside. This was my first time to the Bellvue room- it was FILLED with Boardwalk lovers. When I went up to the bar to get a cocktail (that was too sweet!), I met a couple who owned there, never stayed anywhere else, and loved it so much!! Half an hour later, I joined my girls....

What a pretty pic of Kara!

On the way back.....

Cont'd next post......

Beautiful Night pics! You girls are having so much fun - too bad it has to end! Just think - only 8 months until you get to do it again!!!!:cheer2:

Almost forgot I am just back from DC where we had an awesome Dis Meet !!Have strarted a brief review on my thread !!Is that a subtle hint or what!!!:rotfl2:

For this installment, I think I need to say.... "yeah, what she says." I really don't have much to add except

YUMMY!!!!!

Seriously my favorite meal of the trip, and pretty darn close to my favorite WDW meal. I did have a tasty meal at Flying Fish awhile back that I can still remember.

I'm hoping to get JEff to Sanaa sometime soon. He is adventurous too so I know he'd love it. My sister and my parents on our trip next year? Not so much...... If they don't have french fries, they are out!

So....... I was really interested in Kidani because I've stayed at AKL and loved it. But we are considering renting points to take my parents for their 50th anniversary in Dec 2011. Well, I'm 99% sure we will rent points, so now it's time to start thinking where we want to stay. I love AKL and think it would be great for them - they will be in their early 70s and this seems like a great place for them to come back mid-day to relax, watch the animals from their balcony, or find someplace to have a quiet snack or something......

And I was not disappointed. I do like the hustle and bustle of the AKL lobby but Kidani was a mini version and I liked that...

ImportedPhotos00176.jpg

ImportedPhotos00177.jpg

ImportedPhotos00178.jpg

ImportedPhotos00180.jpg

ImportedPhotos00181.jpg

Plenty of little spaces to relax and unwind....

ImportedPhotos00182.jpg

ImportedPhotos00191.jpg

But THIS was what I was most excited about today.....

ImportedPhotos00183.jpg

ImportedPhotos00185.jpg

ImportedPhotos00186.jpg

Now after all this picture taking, I needed some refreshment, some fuel, some energy, some beverage, some BOOZE!!!!

ImportedPhotos00193.jpg

Actually, Ellen, I think I took the same flight as you, weren't we first class??? Or did they put me back by the lavatory.... story of my life!

ImportedPhotos00194.jpg

Ellen has all the fancy names for this - I just called it "Freakin Awesome." Seriously, I was all "oh my God, this is so good," talking with my mouth full, shoving as much in as possible. I may or may not have been an embarassment to my dining companions. I'm guessing yes. It was THAT good!

Oops, gotta run pick up Ally at school.. be right back!

Kara....that is just how I feel about Kidani...I love the quiet as you walk in after a day at the parks....and Jambo is right there if you want the hustle/bustle of a bigger lobby. I do miss the Jambo lobby smell when I am at Kidani though :rotfl2: I guess I prefer, after a day at the park with thousands of people to come back to a quite lobby and not as crowded pool... Now I am totally homesick!!! I :lovestruc it there!!!

I think I checked out that room at the BW once before...did they have backgammon or checkers set up somewhere too? I was with my niece so I probably wasn't drinking ;)

Tracy

Oh the last night is so sad! And it's fun to stay up late that night...even if you're just hanging in your room giggling. Because you know the next time you wake up, it's departure day.

EXACTLY!!!!! I HATE going to bed that night- because when I wake up, I know the fat lady has sung. I hate that B****! What time for lunch?

Oh! I don't like curry either! I liked Boma for dinner, but the service and the wine I had were the best part :goodvibes For breakfast, it was pretty much the juice. I'm still open to trying Jiko or Sanaa - next time! :thumbsup2

I think the flavors at Sanaa are not as strong as at Boma or Jiko. The food is lighter, the spices are less heavy- at least the stuff I have had.

Beautiful Night pics! You girls are having so much fun - too bad it has to end! Just think - only 8 months until you get to do it again!!!!:cheer2:

Yep!! And the question remains...where will we Dismoms stay???????:confused3

Great reviews !!! I am not adventurous either but I think I may at some point try Sanaa !!!

Good girl!!! I love that you're willing to try!!

Almost forgot I am just back from DC where we had an awesome Dis Meet !!Have strarted a brief review on my thread !!Is that a subtle hint or what!!!:rotfl2:

I will be over to read in a little bit! Tim & Ty are there right now- on a Mission trip with church- they come home tomorrow night.

The breads are naan, paneer paratha & onion Kulcha-

Yeah, what she said.....

2010_0504dismoms20100286.jpg

The dips are roasted red bell pepper hummus, cucumber raita, and coriander chutney (which is spicy).

Yeah, what she said......

2010_0504dismoms20100287.jpg

I can tell you right now, if I ever get to that restaurant and there is no paneer parantha and coriander chutney I will throw myself on the floor and scream like a two year old. I love it THAT MUCH.

This is also how she got to be in FOW, dance with sweaty tribal men at AK, and ride RnR twice in a row. Hey, whatever works, right???

It is sooooo unique, and soooooo delish. We followed that with the salad sampler- we chose-

Roasted potato, corn & spinach
2010_0504dismoms20100288.jpg

Yeah, what she said.....

Chickpeas with cucumber and tomato-
2010_0504dismoms20100289.jpg

Yeah, what she said....

and Watermelon, lime and radish
2010_0504dismoms20100291.jpg

Yeah, what she said....

DEEEEEEE-LISH-US!!!
2010_0504dismoms20100292.jpg

Yeah, what she said, we DID look delicious, very hot and DISmomish all strutting our stuff saying, "uh huh, oh yeah, look at us DISmoms all stylin in Sanaa...." Oh, wait, you meant the FOOD was delicious.

Yeah, what she said..... :rolleyes1

Kara had chicken with red curry sauce and the short ribs-

2010_0504dismoms20100299.jpg

Not thrilled with the idea of shrimp and curry - I was still scared of "curry" I went with the chicken. It was almost as deeee-lish-us as US!!!! And the beef short ribs reminded me of a pot roast. That texture, warm, comfort food. 2DIE4!!!!

Everyone was happy. And everyone was STUFFED! This food is such a different flavor profile, I just can't say enough good things about it. Or about our server, who I thought I had a photo of, but maybe one of the other girls does? He was really friendly, he made us all feel special, he offered to take our pics more than once- he asked what we wanted for dessert, and when we said we were too full, he brought this out on the house-

2010_0504dismoms20100301.jpg

I think it was a sampler ( I LOVE all the samplers here!!) of Chai cream with a tea tuille, eggless chocolate cake, and I am at a loss on the third thing back there-

2010_0504dismoms20100302.jpg

I think it was called "More deee-lish-us-ness" - I was an English major, I know these things.....

Then he took our picture AGAIN (ya know- cause we're celebrities and all)

2010_0504dismoms20100303.jpg

deeeee-lish-US!!!

We thanked our server again for a truly lovely, delectable evening, and he said, would you like to tell the chef how much you enjoyed it? He's over there.

Well...me and that chef....we go WAAAAAYYYYY back to the November '09 Sanaa french fry challenge, when he made the one and only batch of french fries ever served at Sanaa for my autistic son, Sean, who at the time wouldn't eat anything else. Sanaa doesn't have a regular kitchen- it has no traditional ovens, no fryers- so making fries is not so easy. But he did it, for Sean. :lovestruc And when i said to him, "You made fries for my son in November!" He said, "I have only ever made fries one time in this kitchen, and it was for an autistic boy." Yep- that would be us! I do believe I gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek- which is something I NEVER do...:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

2010_0504dismoms20100308.jpg

Unless it's THIS guy!!!

39703_1535453394871_1490917866_31352622_2908756_n.jpg

Or maybe this one???

ImportedPhotos00093.jpg

Yeah, what she said?

Well, here it comes...the last day of blissful DISmom time, as usual, here in an instant. Poor Cammie was up before dawn to catch her ride to the airport. So we had said our goodbyes the night before. I went over to the Marketplace to get one last of these-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0261.jpg

Yummmm....what DO they put in that granola? It is heavenly! Is it sesame seeds? Anyway....we packed up, and Miss Karajeboo said goodbye....

And then....there were three. I packed up my locker to take down with me when we checked out-

2010_0504dismoms20100321.jpg

WOW!!! There's a LOT of stuff in there!!! Pods and I are totally set for our upcoming vacation! I am SO PSYCHED about my OL!! That sucker was HEAVY!!! I was a little embarrassed HOW heavy. Well- no biggie. It's not like I'll ever meet John, the smart guy who came up with the Owners Locker idea and picks them up and drops them off! Sure, i won't....I never meet ANYBODY...do I???? The valet came upstairs, grabbed all our stuff, including my very weighty locker, and we went down to check everything in for the DME, etc. And guess WHO was there. Another DISer....who is mostly a lurker....and whose name I totally forget, because I SUCK!!! When I was checking in, she asked if I was Podsnel....we had such a nice chat! And if you're reading this, PLEEEEEEEEZ say hello!!!!! Then, guess who ELSE came up and said hi? Someone who was collecting very heavy OLs????

2010_0504dismoms20100322.jpg

So much for skirting by an embarrassing moment. Anywhooo.....John was the NICEST GUY!!!! Of course, I was blabbering incessantly about how great his idea is, and how I fit so much in there, and I'm sorry it's so heavy....and he YELLED AT ME!!!! :scared1: Just kidding- he doesn't care how much it weighs- he's just happy everyone likes it so much. He asked us (me and the nameless lurking DISer (I SUCK!)) if we wanted to take a picture in front of the purple van- and I asked him to join us. Nice, nice guy- I hope he has ever growing success!

Sean wants to go out for french fries- I'll be back soon-

Ellen - these pictures are spectacular! :worship: Really, really good.

I have been trying to respond to your TR since last night. For some reason there is something in your TR that keeps shutting down the safari on my Mac. Its crazy, but everytime I tried to open it at home safari quit. So I had to wait till I got to a pc at work, then it took me all day to post. The good news is that I am finally able to see pictures consistently at work! :cool1:

Your meal at Sanaa looks almost identical to the one I had. It was so delish and I love the bread. So super yummy. I had the Atlantic chard as well and it was great. I will definitely be going back to Sanaa!

You guys had such a fun trip but I really think we need a group ToT ride next May! Com'on now - let me hear a big :woohoo:Yes :woohoo:

I can't remember what else I wanted to comment on because I'm afraid if I go back and read again I'll get called to do something and lose my reply. I have been trying for 3 hours to post and either can't get this computer or get interrupted!

Phew! I am finally caught up again! Thank god for the links. I love links.;)

Great review of the GF HT. I did the tea with Princess Aurora at the GF with my daughter....twice actually and at least the food seems virtually identical with the exception of the dessert. (We were all served cake).

I will have to take her to the regular tea on an upcoming trip. She is sadly growing out of the Princess stage. But on the bright side, I could probably do 5 HTs for the cost of the Princess one.:rotfl:

Those nighttime photos of the BCV have me missing that place like crazy. Sigh! I love that place!

We also got over to the Boardwalk Inn this trip...I really liked it too. I will have to remember to pop over for a nightcap one night!;)

Great review of Sanna....another one to put on my list.

Sad to hear the trip is coming to an end...look forward to reading along til the end!:goodvibes

My in-laws want to stay at AKL at some point above any other onsite resort. I think points might be the way to go for them. Only problem is the dogs. They don't want to do Disney without me anymore since i make it so easy...but..they don't trust anyone but dh and I with their dogs. I'm thinking all these resort/food pics may convince them to go without me for even just a few days. :goodvibes

I wish I went enuff to have a LOCKER!!!:sad2::goodvibes

You and me both Rosie!

Ok I have a lot of ready to do but I wanted to put this on my list of TR. I envy you all getting to go with just a group of ladies. I want to do that. I have one good friend who is a Dis nut like me, well sort of not as bad as I am.:rotfl2: She will not go with out her son though.
Maybe one time I can join you all or find some other's who would love to do this?:confused3 My DD's both like going and they are older but still just not the same, as I would still deal with their attitudes you know what I mean?:rolleyes1

I agree Ellen--who don't you meet? :) Im the one who always runs into people I know from home on vacation. Sanaa looks good but the girls nixed that one for Oct. Who knows--once I have this AP it will be burning a hole in my pocket and I may have enough FF points to go on a free trip. Hmmmm...

I've really enjoyed hearing about your trip; thanks for sharing it! I think it would be so fun to do a girls' only trip. :goodvibes

Do you have to be a DVC owner to do Owner's Locker?

Those were just taken with my little camera! The big key was putting it on a flat surface- we all REALLY need a good, collapsible tripod, i think! I have gorilla pods, but there is not always a pole or other something to wrap them aroun- KWIM??

And how did I forget that we saw you that night??? I just realized when I saw your post- and while I was writing it, I had the strangest feeling SOMETHING was missing....:confused3 DUH!!! I'll have to fix that in my next post.

Sorry you were having trouble on that page. :confused3 But so happy you can see pics at work, now!! And I'll see how ToT goes in October before I commit to a big Mom ride!:scared1: How about a big MAYBE??

I wish I went enuff to have a LOCKER!!!:goodvibes

Gotta say....that is one of the BEST parts of having one- an OL means you will be visiting a LOT! :goodvibes

Phew! I am finally caught up again! Thank god for the links. I love links.

Hi! Yea- I love that place (BCV) too. Glad I'll be staying there again this October before our cruise.

And I'm glad you like the links- I think they help a lot when I'm reading someone else's TR (like yours!!!:goodvibes).

And GO TO SANAA!!!!! It rocks!

Somebody shoot that fat lady! :lmao:

I REALLY HATE that witch!!! :rotfl2:

My in-laws want to stay at AKL at some point above any other onsite resort. I think points might be the way to go for them. Only problem is the dogs. I agree- renting the points is a good way to go- unless they're offering the big discounts and you can score a PIN. They have GOT to stop worrying about those little doggies!!!! Just GO!!!!!!

Ok I have a lot of ready to do but I wanted to put this on my list of TR. I envy you all getting to go with just a group of ladies. I want to do that. I have one good friend who is a Dis nut like me, well sort of not as bad as I am.:rotfl2: She will not go with out her son though.

Hi pixiedustmom!!! How old are your girls? I have a 13 year old son who has started giving me attitude this year- so yes, i know what you mean. Fortunately, so far, he is still enjoying WDW (and is REALLY excited about our upcoming second DCL cruise- that is his favorite vacation EVER!!) and he is still a good kid most of the time. It is a completely different vacation when you go with girlfriends- the first year, just Lonnie & I went- she was not a big Disney nut AT ALL. Even though she was (is)living in Florida, she had barely been to WDW! :scared1: I KNOW!!!!! Well, for me, that was a lot of fun- because she saw everything with brandy-new eyes- and she became a big fan of the Disney vacation. :thumbsup2 So just because your friends are not Disney crazed, doesn't mean they wouldn't want to go! :goodvibes

Hmmmm...

:rotfl: i usually see people on vacation, too. I LOVE that!!! Too bad your girls nixed Sanaa- it's fun with kids for lunch, with all the animals outside. And hmmmmm....when's your next trip?

I've really enjoyed hearing about your trip; thanks for sharing it! I think it would be so fun to do a girls' only trip. :goodvibes

Do you have to be a DVC owner to do Owner's Locker?

Love sharing it! Thanks so much for reading it and always making comments!!

No- you don't have to be a DVC owner- just that there are a lot of DVC owners who use OLs because we tend to come more than once a year. Lucky, lucky us. :goodvibes

Ok I really appreciate the links to the post. It only took me a couple days to read through.:worship:

I just want to make a couple comments even though I am sure they are way behind.
First those bridesmaid dresses very quite similar. Both were of a floral design. Funny how times change huh?

I love the new home and new paint job. Such a big spacious home.

The food porn was so good. I enjoyed reading about it all and now I really want to try some.

The drinks, oh the drinks. Makes me wish I had a few now. :dance3:
