DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

I missed your last update too :confused3 A pink guitar might not look all that bad...but you would never get me on that again if it was Hannah!!!! This ride hurts my head too much anyways...my poor, precious brain. Would much rather be on TOT...which by the way I didn't know you had never been on it...you must!!! I think it is one of the best themed rides in all of the World::yes::
I know you loved your meal at Sannaa....I think I would like the dips and bread....just can't get past the curry stuff....not for me. I'll have to just suck it up sometime and eat there! Well at least I could have the flying lessons ;)

I will look over the menu again....two of my friends will be with me for part of my October trip...one from Jersey (works in the city) and one from DC and they are far more worldly in their eating than I am :rotfl2:so maybe we will pop in for lunch ;)

Tracy

I just wrote the whole freakin thing and photobucket shut down my internet, erasing everything!! GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:badpc::badpc::badpc:

Tracy- I think it depends what kind of curry you have. Curries are all different flavors and spices- not just that "curry" that comes in a bottle from McCormack- I was AMAZED the first time I had thai red curry in a restaurant, that I thought I would hate, and it turned out to be the most delicious thing! I hope you will try Sanaa with your friends, it really is incredible!:lovestruc

OK...back to the new post...

It is amazing how close the trips are. My house is getting excited! When does your crew go back to school?

Ok, now where was I before that nasty Photobucket screwed things up??? Ah yes- flying the friendly skies...

2010_0504dismoms20100285.jpg

I'm sorry, I can't recall which flight this was, other than it's the one with the most Chenin Blancs (because I LOVE chenin blanc). Joan had the same as me, Kara? Something different, I believe. We decided to share a couple of things before we had our main course, beginning with the bread service. This was my third visit to Sanaa in a year, and I HAVE to have this EVERY time. My mouth is watering thinking of it, and the fact that in less than a month I'll be having it again is making me oh, sooooo happy!! The breads are naan, paneer paratha & onion Kulcha-

2010_0504dismoms20100286.jpg

The dips are roasted red bell pepper hummus, cucumber raita, and coriander chutney (which is spicy).

2010_0504dismoms20100287.jpg

I can tell you right now, if I ever get to that restaurant and there is no paneer parantha and coriander chutney I will throw myself on the floor and scream like a two year old. I love it THAT MUCH. It is sooooo unique, and soooooo delish. We followed that with the salad sampler- we chose-

Roasted potato, corn & spinach
2010_0504dismoms20100288.jpg

Chickpeas with cucumber and tomato-
2010_0504dismoms20100289.jpg

and Watermelon, lime and radish
2010_0504dismoms20100291.jpg

DEEEEEEE-LISH-US!!!
2010_0504dismoms20100292.jpg

I can promise I'll be having the salads again in September, too. Next came our main courses. I was anxious to try Todays Sustainable Fish (which today was Arctic Char) with shrimp and scallops in a light curry broth-

2010_0504dismoms20100293.jpg

The char was more done than I would have liked, but this was a scrumptious presentation of light, yummy flavors, and the whole thing was wonderful. I may end up getting this again. Or I may go for what I've had before, which is what Joan and Kara both had....Slow cooked in gravy, simple and well seasoned...joan's was shrimp with green curry sauce-

2010_0504dismoms20100296.jpg

And beef short ribs-

2010_0504dismoms20100298.jpg

Served with basmati rice (because the 5 grain pilaf is the one thing I have NEVER enjoyed there)

2010_0504dismoms20100295.jpg

Kara had chicken with red curry sauce and the short ribs-

2010_0504dismoms20100299.jpg

Everyone was happy. And everyone was STUFFED! This food is such a different flavor profile, I just can't say enough good things about it. Or about our server, who I thought I had a photo of, but maybe one of the other girls does? He was really friendly, he made us all feel special, he offered to take our pics more than once- he asked what we wanted for dessert, and when we said we were too full, he brought this out on the house-

2010_0504dismoms20100301.jpg

I think it was a sampler ( I LOVE all the samplers here!!) of Chai cream with a tea tuille, eggless chocolate cake, and I am at a loss on the third thing back there-

2010_0504dismoms20100302.jpg

Then he took our picture AGAIN (ya know- cause we're celebrities and all)

2010_0504dismoms20100303.jpg

Isn't the restaurant so beautiful? It feels like you are sitting beneath a big tent in some exotic foreign land...

2010_0504dismoms20100306.jpg

We thanked our server again for a truly lovely, delectable evening, and he said, would you like to tell the chef how much you enjoyed it? He's over there.

Well...me and that chef....we go WAAAAAYYYYY back to the November '09 Sanaa french fry challenge, when he made the one and only batch of french fries ever served at Sanaa for my autistic son, Sean, who at the time wouldn't eat anything else. Sanaa doesn't have a regular kitchen- it has no traditional ovens, no fryers- so making fries is not so easy. But he did it, for Sean. :lovestruc And when i said to him, "You made fries for my son in November!" He said, "I have only ever made fries one time in this kitchen, and it was for an autistic boy." Yep- that would be us! I do believe I gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek- which is something I NEVER do...:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

2010_0504dismoms20100308.jpg

I think we all agree- Sanaa is a must do for us. If you've never been, you are REALLY missing a great dining experience in WDW, or anywhere, for that matter.

Up next- we leave Kidani and head to the Boardwalk and a little Bellevue Room time....

Okay, the food does look delicious and your char looks yummy too;)
How wonderful that the (cute) chef remembered you....I remember the story form your other TR :goodvibes Then again....how could he forget you..being a celebrity and all :)

Tracy

It is amazing how close the trips are. My house is getting excited! When does your crew go back to school?

A week from tomorrow. :sad1: I have been at school a couple of times in the past week and will be there again almost all day on Thursday (for pta stuff). Timmy and Tyler are both in Washington DC right now- and have been since Saturday. They are on the youth mission trip with our chuch until Wednesday. I am very proud of them for wanting to go, and I think they are working very hard with their group to make the world a little bit better of a place for someone else who really needs it. But it's SOOOO QUIET around here!!!

I am getting excited for our next trip- especially after writing this last post about AKV. But I have a LOT to do before that vacay comes!!! This president job is kinda busy! :confused3 :rotfl: It will be here for us before we know it!:thumbsup2

I love Sanaa! Love, love, love it (but let us keep it quiet so it does not turn into another LeCellier). We have three reservations there for our upcoming anniversity/birthday trip and I plan for us to keep all three reservations. Yum, yum, yum! :lovestruc

OK OK!! If Tracy eats curry I'll go on the ride!! Sheesh! :rotfl2:

Good girl. And yes- I am just soooo unforgettable- especially when I make outrageous demands in the kitchen! :snooty: :rotfl2: He seriously is a very nice guy. I hope he is still there in less than 4 weeks. :thumbsup2

I love Sanaa! Love, love, love it (but let us keep it quite so it does not turn into another LeCellier). We have three reservations there for our upcoming anniversity/birthday trip and I plan for us to keep all three reservations. Yum, yum, yum! :lovestruc

REALLY???? Three times in one trip???? WOW! You are the #1 Sanaa Groupie out there!! :worship: What have you had? What do YOU love there? I had the lamb my 1st visit and the scallops- which were also very tasty- but I prefer that slow cooked in gravy stuff to it, I think. And the fish- the fish was delish. It was the total opposite of the food we had the night before at Narcoosees, which was very rich. This was just right. Full, but not ready to explode!:scared1:

I'm glad you enjoy Sanaa, but it really doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm sooo not an adventurous eater. :rolleyes1 DH would love it, though. :confused3 So cool that the chef remembered you!

Finally all caught up again. Now I'm hungry even though I just ate an hour ago.

It doesn't appeal to Cammie, either, and I feel so sorry for you both!! It's sooooooooo good! Maybe you could go with DH and order a kids pizza. :)

Well, THAT'S a problem! How have you been? How's work? How was the summer? How's the guest?

We left Kidani, stopping to admire the lobby on our way out...

So pretty there- visiting made me pretty homesick. And pretty glad I get to stay there every so often. :goodvibes But, of course, we were going back to this-

Not too shabby either. :goodvibes Our plan was to go up to the room and round up Cammie & Pam and go for one last cocktail at the Bellvue room, and walk around the Boardwalk a little. We talked about Jellyrolls, but I think none of us had the energy for it. Cammie & Pam, though, were not going anywhere- Cammie had an early flight, and Pam likes to get up at 5:30, so they decided to be homebodies. So, after I switched cameras, we three amigas went on our own-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0262.jpg

The Boardwalk is very, very pretty inside. This was my first time to the Bellvue room- it was FILLED with Boardwalk lovers. When I went up to the bar to get a cocktail (that was too sweet!), I met a couple who owned there, never stayed anywhere else, and loved it so much!! Half an hour later, I joined my girls....

Cont'd next post......

Back in the room, I went out on the balcony, sad the night had come to an end. How do these vacations always fly by soooooo fast?? Didn't we just GET here??? Can't we just LIVE here????

2010_0504dismoms2010water0277.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0278.jpg

Back inside, it was time for our now ritual- laugh at each other until 1:30 am or so before going to bed-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0280.jpg

Yea- they just met, 3 days ago. Really shows, huh? Love those girls!!

Only one more day to go....

Well, THAT'S a problem! How have you been? How's work? How was the summer? How's the guest?

I'm good. Den not so much. He needs surgery again. Scar tissue blocking the small intestine. Was supposed to be tomorrow but it was postponed. Now we have to call tomorrow to find out when it will be. Poor guy, he's pretty sick.

Work hasn't happned yet  but then they told me I may not get any hours until Sept. Summer has gone too fast and my adopted for summers teenage son is back home and in school.

Now I thought I was caught up and I see you have done more updates. Off to catch up again. :rotfl:

Oh! So sorry about Den- I hope he will be able to get the care he needs soon!

Oh the last night is so sad! And it's fun to stay up late that night...even if you're just hanging in your room giggling. Because you know the next time you wake up, it's departure day.
