DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

And I'll see how ToT goes in October before I commit to a big Mom ride!:scared1: How about a big MAYBE?
:rotfl2: OK - I guess that will have to do!

BTW - I think my soccer moms are starting to bail on the May trip. One mom thinks its when her son will be running states in track. One mom thinks its too close to graduation. :confused3

I'm sort of torn, but I may just go myself and stay 1 night resort and 3 nights dvc. We will see - I still have time.

So Joan and I were headed to...where else...EPCOT for the remainder of our time at WDW. I needed to renew my AP using my GAD voucher- which was AWESOME because it took something like $88 off the renewal price AND i got an extra 3 months added to my AP because of the promotion. :yay: Meanwhile, Joan was looking for souvenirs. We actually both needed to get some stuff for our kids, and I also wanted to try to find a Thumper garden statue (which I seemed to keep missing...well, that's because they were sold out of them). I did end up purchasing the Bambi garden statue, though, which they kept for me there at that first store I can never remember the name of, so I wouldn't have to carry it through the park. :thumbsup2 I also purchased a gift card for Kid-at-Heart, who was giving it to a young friend.

2010_0504dismoms20100324.jpg

Then, I had the MOST STUPID idea ever- why don't we get the kids CANDY FROM AROUND THE WORLD??? Sounds really cool, doesn't it?? Something EVERY kid would enjoy, and just be soooo happy to receive. We were so proud of ourselves for thinking of it! BEST MOMS EVAAAARRRRR!!!!:sad2: SO we decided to start in France...

We went in for our first selection...and LOOK!! It was practically penny candy!! This was going to be a piece of cake!

2010_0504dismoms20100329.jpg

Speaking of cake...I think it's time for a snack!

Joan & I decided to share a Pithivier-

2010_0504dismoms20100333.jpg

OMG, am I glad we picked that one! It was buttery and almondy, it was not super sweet- I can't WAIT to have one again in two weeks! We continued on...

2010_0504dismoms20100335.jpg

and stopped at the gardening exhibit, where we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The woman working there was so cute!! She asked if we had met the gentleman working on the other side- he was from Canada, like her, and they were married!! We said, "WOW!!! Imagine coming all the way to Florida from Canada and meeting & marrying someone from your hometown!!" :upsidedow OMG....

We went in search of candy...made in Morocco...

2010_0504dismoms20100340.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100341.jpg

It was then we started to realize not all candy was created equally...or even created AT ALL...in some EPCOT countries. But they did have cookies, I think, so we got those...of course, Japan had too many choices, but we narrowed it down to some hard candy sushi, I think...

I think in Italy, we began to realize the problems...when you can't haul chocolate around WS all day in 100 degree heat, you can really only get gummys...and after a while, they all look the SAME!!!

Cont'd next post-

Interesting shot of the Eiffel Tower, is that a bird in the photo?

Many thanks for picking up the gift cards. You sure made a couple of little girls smile.

We had a little prosecco from Italy...

2010_0504dismoms20100351.jpg

See, what you really want is THIS-

2010_0504dismoms20100356.jpg

Or some of THIS-

2010_0504dismoms20100357.jpg

But you realize it will all end up turning into a huge melty, slimy mess, so...you have to pass. And buy another bag of gummies. In another shape. Germany had a good selection. Germany also had a MONKEY ON A BOTTLE!!!!

2010_0504dismoms20100358.jpg

Yea, that's right. I got on my knees for him....

We decided we needed a break from even THINKING about our kids, and decided we would focus on what is REALLy important...ourselves!! We saw these GORGEOUS Mickey globes, and decided we couldn't live without one! The nice man with the sharp pointy vibrating tool etched DISMOMS 2010.

2010_0504dismoms20100359.jpg

Then, the funny man with all the stickers wrapped our globes up securely for the plane. He also included 2-300 coloring pages for my 11 & 13 & 16 year old sons, along with armloads of stickers. :upsidedow

2010_0504dismoms20100360.jpg

We wandered around to China, inventors and producers of all kinds of stuff- including some funky, squishy cakey cookies. But first, a visit to....a MONKEY!!!

2010_0504dismoms20100361.jpg

The fact that I behave this way when I am entirely sober explains a LOT, doncha think?

Always love this guy-

2010_0504dismoms20100362.jpg

Onto our shopping for sugar- what's THIS??

2010_0504dismoms20100364.jpg

Crap. They're towels. Do you think my boys would like these?

2010_0504dismoms20100365.jpg

Maybe, but not in their father's lifetime. This might get a little heavy on the walk back-

2010_0504dismoms20100367.jpg

I know!! How about a monkey!

2010_0504dismoms20100368.jpg

We ended up purchasing some kind of starchy thing, I still do NOT know what it was, but I can tell you that it has ended any love of Chinese desserts my kids may have ever potentially had, for LIFE!!!:scared1:

All this shopping made us (duh) THIRSTY!!! And guess which country comes next??? :yay:

It's time for lunch....

Speaking of cake...I think it's time for a snack!

Joan & I decided to share a Pithivier-

2010_0504dismoms20100333.jpg

I beg your pardon!!! This is a family forum!!! Pithivier indeed. I'll show YOU a pithivier.... And my bouche is NOT amused right now... making all us DIS moms look bad with your potty mouth. Pithivier.....

We had a little prosecco from Italy...

Mmmmhmmmm, I see where this is leading. Monkeys, right? I'll bet there are monkeys coming up next! Where there is booze (and Ellen) there's sure to be monkeys!!!

2010_0504dismoms20100351.jpg

Germany also had a MONKEY ON A BOTTLE!!!!

2010_0504dismoms20100358.jpg

Yea, that's right. I got on my knees for him....

And I thought the pithivier was dirty!!!! I new there would be monkeys!!!!

Booze, monkeys, and the above..... :sad2:

Oh, Ellen, Ellen, Ellen...... booze and monkeys and vibrating tools, oh my!

Kara, Kara, Kara...how does your mind travel to that gutter SO quickly and automatically???? BTW, how's Bucky? Still your best pal??? Your BIGGEST fan??? :rotfl2:

And of course your BOUCHE was not AMUSED... you weren't THERE for the day of monkey fun and pointy vibrating tools having hoisted yourself out to the long road home too early in the day. Maybe you can stay a little later next year??? :yay:

Ok I really appreciate the links to the post. It only took me a couple days to read through.:worship:

I just want to make a couple comments even though I am sure they are way behind.
First those bridesmaid dresses very quite similar. Both were of a floral design. Funny how times change huh?

I love the new home and new paint job. Such a big spacious home.

The food porn was so good. I enjoyed reading about it all and now I really want to try some.

The drinks, oh the drinks. Makes me wish I had a few now. :dance3:

Hi! Times change? Cabbage Rose Chintz dresses are out?? I should stop wearing them now?? I'm so confused!! :rotfl:

I want some of that now, too- good thing I'm going to WDW in 16 days! My first stop???? The DITCH! I can't wait to bring Pods- even if he hates tequila! But I have SOOOOO much to do between now and then....GAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

:rotfl2: OK - I guess that will have to do!

BTW - I think my soccer moms are starting to bail on the May trip. One mom thinks its when her son will be running states in track. One mom thinks its too close to graduation. :confused3

Seriously? They're bailing??? ALL of them??? That's the WORST!! Really?

Interesting shot of the Eiffel Tower, is that a bird in the photo?

Many thanks for picking up the gift cards. You sure made a couple of little girls smile.

No problemo! Anytime!! And YOU are the one who made them so happy- not me!!

You are SOOOO observant- I never even saw that bird. I need to work on the pic a little, I think- thanks for pointing that out!!:thumbsup2 So SHARP!

Kara, Kara, Kara...how does your mind travel to that gutter SO quickly and automatically????

It's a gift......

BTW, how's Bucky? Still your best pal??? Your BIGGEST fan??? :rotfl2:

Next year I may have to FLY to the DISmoms trip..... and I HATE to fly! But for booze, and monkeys, and sharp pointy vibrating things, I would fly to the ends of the earth for you!!!!

Bucky, is Bucky.... yes, he's still my best pal..... ;)

Funny that the candy expedition ended up being so hard to complete. :confused3 I guess kissing the monkeys and your lunch was worth it, though!:thumbsup2

Oh Ellen !!! You and your ideas !!!!:rotfl2:I bought the kids candy in Japan and they loved it !!Trouble is Jordan picked it out for me and I don't remember what it was called !! I know it had 2 wrappers and the inner one was edible which I think was the BIG attraction!!!:rotfl2:

I highly recommend the Yan-Yans from Japan! A prefect, delicious treat! :thumbsup2 Although there are A LOT of yummy looking candy in Japan, I ALWAYS go for the Yan-Yans! I've heard of people getting chocolate from around the world but chocolate and summer in FL do NOT mix!

Where's our pic?!

ellen ..is pods aware of this illicit love affair with primates? Now if we all lived closer to you, on your birthday instead of putting pink flamingos in your yard we would have to cover it in monkeys.:rotfl2:

Yes i am a trouble maker:lmao: just ax dh about it:laughing:

I would have gotten the chocolate treats. Then I would come home with half the world. When questioned...well they were melting so I had to eat them! :thumbsup2

More great reports!

Sad this trip is coming to an end but :yay: you are going back in just a couple days Ellen! And Kara, you are just a hoot. I love reading your posts as well.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your day. :rolleyes1

Well, make sure you're flying out that night on the way home- we all need to make the most of that last day!

Funny that the candy expedition ended up being so hard to complete. :confused3 I guess kissing the monkeys and your lunch was worth it, though!:thumbsup2

If it weren't so hot, it would have been easier, because we could have thrown some chocolate in there. And not felt like we were buying the same thing over and over... And yes, monkeys can brighten anyone's day!

I think Japan has some GREAT candy- that's most definitely the best candy shopping in WS. It's almost everywhere else that becomes the problem. But that Japan store is amazing for nearly everything- it's a treasure trove in there!

I read about the Yam Yams and I'll be picking some up this next trip....MAYBE even for one of my favorite teachers in town...:rolleyes1

I'll try to post the pic today- turns out the first week of school is CRAZY BUSY as a PTA President! :confused3  I wrote those updates yesterday just because I needed a PTA break!

ellen ..is pods aware of this illicit love affair with primates? Now if we all lived closer to you, on your birthday instead of putting pink flamingos in your yard we would have to cover it in monkeys.:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That cracked me up! But I think you would have to hang the monkeys in my trees...oh no....what if Pods sees them???

I would have gotten the chocolate treats. Then I would come home with half the world. When questioned...well they were melting so I had to eat them! :thumbsup2

See, now, THAT could work! Great plan!!

More great reports!

And YOU are leaving tomorrow for the Member Cruise!!! Lucky YOU!! I can't wait to hear about that one- I hope you fill us in with a TR, Chris!

For this installment, I think I need to say.... "yeah, what she says." I really don't have much to add except

YUMMY!!!!!

Seriously my favorite meal of the trip, and pretty darn close to my favorite WDW meal. I did have a tasty meal at Flying Fish awhile back that I can still remember.

I'm hoping to get JEff to Sanaa sometime soon. He is adventurous too so I know he'd love it. My sister and my parents on our trip next year? Not so much...... If they don't have french fries, they are out!

So....... I was really interested in Kidani because I've stayed at AKL and loved it. But we are considering renting points to take my parents for their 50th anniversary in Dec 2011. Well, I'm 99% sure we will rent points, so now it's time to start thinking where we want to stay. I love AKL and think it would be great for them - they will be in their early 70s and this seems like a great place for them to come back mid-day to relax, watch the animals from their balcony, or find someplace to have a quiet snack or something......

And I was not disappointed. I do like the hustle and bustle of the AKL lobby but Kidani was a mini version and I liked that...

Plenty of little spaces to relax and unwind....

ImportedPhotos00182.jpg

ImportedPhotos00191.jpg

But THIS was what I was most excited about today.....

ImportedPhotos00183.jpg

ImportedPhotos00185.jpg

ImportedPhotos00186.jpg

Now after all this picture taking, I needed some refreshment, some fuel, some energy, some beverage, some BOOZE!!!!

ImportedPhotos00193.jpg

Actually, Ellen, I think I took the same flight as you, weren't we first class??? Or did they put me back by the lavatory.... story of my life!

ImportedPhotos00194.jpg

Ellen has all the fancy names for this - I just called it "Freakin Awesome." Seriously, I was all "oh my God, this is so good," talking with my mouth full, shoving as much in as possible. I may or may not have been an embarassment to my dining companions. I'm guessing yes. It was THAT good!

Oops, gotta run pick up Ally at school.. be right back!

Finally getting back on here....WAAAY behind....and I was on the trip....Anywho....
I'm with Kara...."What she said..." Definitely an amazing meal and I've made ADRs for our trip NEXT MONTH (OMG, only a month and a half and I'll be back in the WORLD!!!Yay!!)

My computer is being stupid, and I keep getting "fatal errors" so I'm going to try to comment without quotes or pics from previous posts....

Our hearts were SO in the right places with the idea of CANDY FROM AROUND THE WORLD. Not such a good idea four months later when that GIANT Disney bag of $50+ of candy is moved from place to place in my house. Maybe 15 kinds of gummys wasn't such a hot idea? Or Tamarind candy from Mexico...what is THAT? :scared1: Let's just stick with buying stuff for US (like jewelry and more drinks) next year!!! :)

Back to Sanaa, once again, oh wish I was going there TONIGHT!!,....not only te most DEEELISH food, also such amazing service. Don't remember the guy's name, but he was AWESOME!!!!:goodvibes

MONKEYS.....See I TOLD you Ellen kissed more and more monkeys. Can't remember who said something about decorating her yard with them on her birthday, but HMMMM.....just a couple months away!!! Great idea!!:rotfl2: Watch out, El!

Sharp, pointy, vibrating tool!?!?.....:lmao: you are one sick puppy...and you too, Kara! I like that in a person!

The best part of our final day....walking around Epcot in a margarita induced haze....really, really the only way to get through the sadness!!! But I'm jumping ahead....SORRY!

OK, you Minnesota folk have some crazy hobbies.... just sayin....

Aaaah....I miss you Kara!!!!

Miss you too snookie wookie!!!
