The Official 2010 MNSSHP- Tips,Tricks and a few Treats !

If I want to get a pic with Mickey, what is the best tip? First off, where is he located? I've seen pics from past years of him in a gazebo but where is that? The people I'm travelling with are very nonchalant...if it were up to me, I'd go right at 4 but they will probably want to take their time changing and everything so it'll be 6 or 7 before we get there. Does he come out before 7 or no? Should I get there early and line up for a pic with him, before the line gets out of control?

WOW! I finally finished reading this whole thread :faint: We will be going to MNSSHP for the first time on 10/19! I have to admit that I have clearly underestimated MNSSHP. The only special event we've ever attended was a P&P party. Our DS is 14 and really has no interest in characters, however going to MNNSHP was his idea b/c he wants a chance to see some villians and of course a bonus chance to ride attractions :thumbsup2 I am curious about one thing...as it gets later in the night, does the crowd thin out? Also, does anyone know if there is a poll out on which nights of MNSSHP that DISers are going? That would be interesting to see! Thanks for all the tips, keep 'em coming!

okay I am clueless, never attended, questions...
We will be there Sept 14 and the 18th, is the MK closed on these evenings unless you have a ticket? or just certain areas? ....
Can you buy tickets at the gate if you decide to go or does it sell out....
We plan to be at HS on the 14th but MK on the 18th...
Thanks...

We're going Oct 17, my birthday!!!! We went for the first time last year and had a blast. Thanks for the thread. Last year due to tips from other disers we started the line for Snow White. Waited for a while, but I was so excited to be first. Probably won't do it again this year, but glad I got the pic!

Characters do dress up during the party, but not at the Crystal Palace.

Do you know offhand which characters will dress up? I'd like to make them a priority when we're at MNSSHP. Is it mostly the fab 5 and the Pooh characters? That's what I seem to remember from 2004.....

[thanks for all your character help - you are fabulous! :worship: ]

How crowded do the early Oct Friday night parties get? We have tix for Fri Oct 8th and I was hoping the crowd level won't be that bad since it is early in the month. Am I way off?

It won't sell out, but it will be brisk since that is the start of Columbus Day weekend.

The whole of MK is closed after 7pm on party nights unless you have a party ticket. You can buy tickets at the gate as long as it's not sold out (typically, the only one that sells out is Halloween night), but if you plan to go, I'd get them beforehand. The price is a few dollars higher if you buy them on the day as well.

Wife and I are going on Sunday, October 3rd. We're bringing our best friends daugters (10 and 15) to the party with us.

Hi all - Hoping some experienced party goers can offer your opinion on this one.

We are doing a Disney cruise (our first!) leaving Sept 19. We return to Port Canveral on Thursday, Sep 23. There is a MNSSHP night that Thursday... but I'm worried that it might be too much for my DS 3 and DS 5. It will mean getting off the boat in the morning, coming to check in at Animal Kingdom, squeeze in a nap and then head to the park.

Anyone else done this? Any advice for a 3 and 5 yr old - is it a mistake to spend the $$$ for such a late event?

If we choose not to do MNSSHP we will just do MK the next day... but I'm actually tempted to go to MNSSHP and then have a resort day Friday.... we have done MK once before for several days.

Advice?!?!?!?!
:fish:

Thanks,
EmsaBems

I will NEED a photo with Mickey too ... am traveling with my Aunt and dont know how "patient" she will be with my Disneyholic needs lol.... What IS the easiest way to get photos with the characters (especially Mickey and Minnie) ? Oh and Donand and Daisy too. oh and the villians and Snow White and the Dwarfs and...well you get the picture....LOL

That would be awesome if the Hag was out for meet and greets at Snow White's Scary adventures! We've met her in Queen form but never as the Hag.

Should work out. You'll be off the ship by 9am and it's about hour and a bit drive to the resort. Time enough to check in and have a nap - if your room is ready.

I would take it easy getting off the ship. Be one of the last people off- you will be off by 10am. (keeping it low key for the kids)
how are you getting to disney?

Your room may not be ready for you this early.
There is another party on the 21st.

Going to MNSSHP for the first time on Sept. 21. Any other Nova Scotians going then?

Hi Dennise - we aren't from Nova Scotia, but still Canadian (Barrie, Ontario) and going the same date (Sept 21st)! This is our first time too - me and DD 8 are going as Dalmatians (easy costume and not too hot). Hope it is a blast!

I just posted this on the budget boards but we found glow bracelets at Michael's the other night for a tube of 15 for $1.00! Also, Costco has a 5 pack of glow sticks (no battery) light up/flash being turned on. The 5 pack was about $11.00. Just 2 ideas for less costly lights for the evening!
