My, my we have some interesting folks around here. My stories / facts are nearly as exciting, but here goes:

1. I grew up on a 400 acre Dairy farm. All of us kids (5 total) started "helping" with chores almost as soon as we could walk, then getting more and more responsibility as we grew up. Milking was twice a day, every day. (one of the mottos on the farm: "The Cows don't care that it's Christmas") Looking back, I really enjoyed my 18 years there, but farming long-term was not the life for me. My brother has taken over the farm and still runs it.

2. As a youth, I was in 4-H. Eventually, I started showing steers are the county fair. Since we had a heard of Holsteins, by brother and I just picked two of the calves and raised them apart from the rest of the heard. Holsteins are a "dairy" cattle, not known for good beef, like an Angus or Hereford. It made quite a ruckus one year when, after the fair, my steer was awarded Reserve Grand Champion carcass. (As part of the fair, there is an auction where local businesses bid on the animals, then they are all taken to the same butcher shop. About a week after the fair, carcass judging takes place in the walk-in freezer a la Rocky style)

3. I married my high-school sweetheart. We started dating as sophomores, went to the college where we got married after our junior years. We were both 21.

4. My grandfather (since we're sharing those stories too) was born in 1900, and right up until he had a stroke in the late '80s, still worked at the tractor dealership / blacksmith shop he started as a young man.

5. I've lived in Wisconsin my entire life - although 3 different corners of it. Only been out of the country twice - honeymoon in Aruba and a trip to Niagara Falls.

6. I've been in IT my entire career. I worked for my college's networking department while in school, then at my current employer ever since graduating. We're a national distributor/wholesaler of packaging and shipping supplies. Not exactly up there on the "coolest places to work" list, but its a good job.

7. My biggest claim to fame is that Reggie Jackson almost killed me. I was walking down a sidewalk in Cooperstown, NY during the Baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend. I was crossing an alley, when a big black sedan came flying down the street and whipped into the alley. I had to jump out the way. Reggie was late for an autograph session, and never even slowed down.

Oh, saw the picture on FB???

Let's see

1) Played College Soccer. Short Professional career ended with a badly broken leg.

2) My grandfather was a revenuer and a bootlegger in Backwoods South Carolina. Years later I asked him how this worked...he told me he didn't have much competition..:lmao: He was also one of the original NASCAR drivers.

3) Fished in a couple of professional Bass Tournaments....and once I make the Bass Master's Classic, Federal Law Enforcement is a fond, yet distant, memory:thumbsup2

4) Finished first in my class at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and was an Honor Graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

5) Certified Federal Firearms, Sub machine gun, Assault Weapons, Reactive shooting and Tactical Instructor.

6) Participated as a Continental Soldier during the filming of "The Patriot" and as a Confederate Soldier in "Gods and Generals".

7) Have spent a lot of time the past 4 years deployed. 2006--Law Enforcement Liaison for Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Al Anbar Province. 2008--Counter Insurgency Operations South, Basrah Iraq, where I worked with and trained Iraqi Army and Police. 2009--Supervisory Special Agent at our Criminal Investigations Unit, Al Asad, Iraq.
Currently, Special Agent In Charge, Joint Counterintelligence Unit-South, Camp Bucca, Iraq.

I'm also a Leo, like golden retrievers, late afternoon jogs and big juicy steaks:lmao:

Riiiiight. All of us have hung around in Saddam's old palaces and assisted with anti-terrorism measures at Walt Disney World, too. ;)

You know those black helicopters circling your house....I am THAT GUY:lmao::lmao::lmao:

And yes, in mid September 2001 I was up close and personal with the "goings on" involving central Florida Theme parks.

Man, you guys punk'd me out.....

If only you knew how unsexy it really is:lmao::lmao:

The "bra discussion" truly is much more interesting...:rotfl2:

I guess the stereotypical "Christmas morning" looked a little different in your house.

What a jerk. I'd have been tempted to "autograph" his car with my keys. :rotfl2:

6) Participated as a Continental Soldier during the filming of "The Patriot" and as a Confederate Soldier in "Gods and Generals".

That's very cool! In which scene are you the 20th guy on the right with half of his body cut out of the picture? :lmao:

I'm with you on the love for steaks, too. Not so much the long jogs.:faint:

Interesting stuff...hmmm....

1. I once had a fireworks mishap that fused two of my fingers together when I was a kid. I was so worried that I'd get in trouble that I didn't tell my mom for a few days and just ripped my fingers apart to "fix" it.

2. I am very slowly working on a novel. It's my wintertime hobby when there's no yard work to be done. No real expectations of getting published, but the process of writing it is fun. (Novel #2 will involve some theme parks)

3. This is my 100th post.

4. And for the grandparent angle, how's this? During prohibition, my grandmother's uncle (not sure what that relation is to me) made booze in Chicago. The operation was discovered by the cops, raided, and he went to jail. Al Capone's people got him out. And that's just one of the stories. Over the years some of my cousins and I always suspected that Grandma and Grandpa had some mob ties in their younger days. Nobody really talks about it. Mom said that they'll tell the whole story someday, but not while Grandma is still alive.

5. I'm a huge fan of 80's music- especially the "hair metal" bands.

6. I'm a superhero/comic book nerd and know way more stuff about Batman in particular than anyone my age really should.

Really don't have a lot of interesting stuff, but here are some facts about me.

1. Was in choir (and not to brag, but a very good singer;)) up until Jr. High... then puberty hit and since that point in my life, I can no longer carry a tune to save my life:scared1:. HS days, I participated in football (DE) and baseball (1B), and although I live in Indiana I didn't play HS basketball but played a lot of pickup and IM ball at college so now as an adult I play basketball 2 nights a week fall - spring and softball the rest of the year.

2. I have lived on a farm my whole life (except for 4 years at college).

3. I worked 4 years for the USDA as a grain elevator auditor while farming part time. I traveled to 21 different states and DC for that job. I've since taken a position as a grain buyer at a local elevator to subsidize my income (and pay health insurance) as I continue to farm.

4. I love to travel, but HATE flying. It isn't the actual flight part I don't like... it is dealing with airlines, delays, canceled flights, security.... BLAH. Did enough of it with the USDA that I learned pretty quick that I can drive 8 hours to Kansas City a lot faster than I can get there spending 2 hrs in the air (factoring in arriving at airport, parking, security, no direct route, etc).

5. Married to my wife now for 2 and a half years, and the pround father of a 6 month old boy. He's finally at the point where he can interact with us and geting to be a lot of fun. He's almost able to crawl... once he figures out he has to get that round milk gut up off the ground to reduce drag.

6. Grandparents... well, no moonshine stories here. My maternal grandfather worked in a factory his whole life and just made enough to get by... my dad's side of the family has been farming for a few generations now. We grow corn that becomes whiskey, but we leave the distilling part to the professionals. ;)

Then...first patient this morning was a stroke that came through the ER and we had to pull clot out of her brain. When she came to us whole left side of her body was down...when she left us....she was moving it everywhere!!! Miraculous indeed!!!

That has to be so amazing to see happen.

4. In addition to Marshall University sports...I enjoy NASCAR and cheering for Mark Martin. Although, NASCAR is not as much fun since Earnhardt died.

Thanks for supporting Mark, even though my company took my bonus and used it to sign him for another year.

Oh, saw the picture on FB???

Sure we all hear the old "I'd tell ya but then I'd have to kill you" but the person never actually tells you afterwards! Just give me a few minutes to tell the wife and kid goodbye and get it over with:sad2:.

OK.......fun facts about me....
1) Was a regional 5 pin bowling champ growing up. For those of you outside of Canada, yes....5 pin bowling.

2) My degree is in Heating, Refridgeration, and Air Conditioning but decided to manage movie theaters instead before moving on to helpdesk work 18 years ago.

3)I am a certified National Geographic Open Water Diver. I dove in the Living Seas exhibit in Epcot (there’s a hidden Mickey only the divers can see)

4) I worked in a movie theater in my high school days as an usher, it was a one auditorium theater and we had to stay in it during the films, therefore during its 23 week run I had to watch Rainman 138 times (3 days a week, 2 shows a night).

5)I still have all my Lego from when I was a kid, plus what I have acquired for DS, and over the years; it works out to over 200 sets.

6) I have stood in the grotto where St Paul lived for 3 months after being shipwrecked, and touched the pillar John the Baptist was beheaded on.

I'm working on one too! Not that it will ever see the light of day, but like you said, it's fun to try.

6. Grandparents... well, no moonshine stories here. Whew...I was starting to think that everyone in the DDC had ties to Al Capone! pirate: <-- (closest I could get to a gangster)

3)I am a certified National Geographic Open Water Diver. I dove in the Living Seas exhibit in Epcot (there’s a hidden Mickey only the divers can see)

Cool! We need pictures!

4) I worked in a movie theater in my high school days as an usher, it was a one auditorium theater and we had to stay in it during the films, therefore during its 23 week run I had to watch Rainman 138 times (3 days a week, 2 shows a night).

Would you say you're an excellent driver?:car:

This has been fun. Thanks everyone for playing along! :thumbsup2

1# I played every brass instument our school had. Sang for 4 years with the Colorado Mormon Chorale and now I help with the sound system.

2# working on my IT Networking degree, currently work for IBM so im in the right field.

3# My grandpa Trigger (dont ask):rolleyes1 started most of the Unions in Northern California and had JFK to his house for meetings on more than one occasion.

3)I am a certified National Geographic Open Water Diver. I dove in the Living Seas exhibit in Epcot (there’s a hidden Mickey only the divers can see)

Both DD and I are PADI Advanced Open Water Certified and also dove the Living Seas. Cool dive. Living in Miami we are close to the Keys and and have great diving near us. Have you ever been down here?

I am a HUGE fan of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I am a huge fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar and would like to have her join the bra discussion page with pictures.
