Once Upon a Christmastime! A Nov. 2010 PTR! *Update 12/12, Disney Blues, pg 61! :( *

Yeah, I put in a request for the 70s building :) I'm hoping I get it :teeth:

I hope you get it too, the new rooms are really nice! :cool1:

Hey Jen, I'm definitely in! I had to do some catch up so.

First off -- Brandon sounds just like my DH. Although, Aaron would never wear Mickey Crocs. But I think he secretly loves the place and won't admit it. I'm so envious you're going during Christmastime. It's my FAVORITE time of year to go. We went December 2007 and swore we'd never go during a different time, too. Well, that didn't pan out.

So funny, we first booked POR b/c we go the same pin. I kept obsessing over VWL and finally we were able to rent DVC points to make it way more affordable for us. Have you thought about renting? We're only paying $126/night at VWL! You can't qualify for free dining, but if you really want to do WL it's worth looking into.

One of my friends bought those Disney Park DVDs for me. LOVE THEM!!! I'm ashamed to admit this, but I actually watched one part at work the day he gave them to me. :rolleyes1

I can completely relate to your weight loss attempt. I'm the same way. I eat bad, and then I'm like...oh, I'll do better tomorrow and wind up doing the same thing. It's hard! The only thing that's really helped me in the past was tracking all the calories I ate. That way, I could visualize exactly what was going into my mouth at all times. It was a pain, but it was really helpful. Congrats on losing four pounds, that's awesome!!!

Whew...that was a novel! Sorry about that, but now I'm all caught up. :)

Hi, :welcome:!! Yeah Brandon loves Disney World, he just doesn't like to make a big deal about it like I do! :rotfl: I never thought, in a million years, he would wear Mickey Crocs! And when he bought them he kept saying he would only wear them in Disney World, but he wears them everywhere now! I keep kicking myself for not getting a pair of the pink ones while I was there, I'm considering calling WDW and ordering a pair! :)

I've considered looking into renting points sometime, but I like having the DDP, and the whole renting points thing makes me really nervous...I don't know how you pick the right person to rent from! I'm ok with not staying at WL anymore, I'm thinking of taking the boat over to visit while we are there or something, to see the Christmas decorations and so I can cry about not being there! :sad1: Just kidding, I am really excited for POR! :yay:

Aren't those Disney Parks DVD's the best? I love them, if I could watch them at work, I would too! :rotfl: I really, really love the Disneyland one...I'm so obsessed with Disneyland! :)

Thanks about the weight loss...I'll get into that more when I do my next update! :upsidedow

Glad you're here! :dance3:

I'm here! A little late to the party, but better late than never! Your DH sounds exactly like mine!!! He says doesn't really like Disney, but he goes for me! While we are there he has the best time, it is too funny! Congrats on switching resorts and saving so much money!!!! We are staying at POP in December so we have more money to spend other places! Can't wait to read more!

Hi, :welcome:! DH's are weird, they pretend not to like Disney but they secretly love it! :rotfl: And then mine comes home and tells everyone how it was the best trip ever and we had the best time...but when I start talking about going again, he whines and says he wants to go somewhere else! :confused3 Well this is our 4th trip in 3 years so he obviously doesn't want to go somewhere else too badly!

As much as I love the Deluxe resorts, I'm kind of getting over them now that I see how much you save by not staying there! I have no problem with staying in a moderate or a value to be able to have more spending money while I'm down there! Pop will be fun, did you request a one of the newer rooms? I would, they are really nice!

Hi everyone! I'm planning on doing an actual update soon, probably tomorrow morning, I'm just trying to get some pictures together for it! Just wanted to let you know that I gained a pound this week!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!

I knew I'd gain though, I mean, it was 4th of July this week, then I went to a wedding on Monday, and it's been waaaaay to hot to exercise-it got up to 100 a couple of days here! So it's actually kind of good that I only gained a pound back! Could have been much worse!

Maybe next week I'll get to buy that new Disney shirt!

I know it can be discouraging but don't beat yourself up! You're right, only gaining a pound around any holiday is actually really good! And plus, a pound could just be water weight or something. I read somewhere that only a daily basis your weight can fluctuate like three pounds or something. So it's not bad at all! You will definitely get that Disney shirt next week!

It's weird, when I got on the scale today, it told me at first I lost a pound! I was soooo excited...then I tried again and it went up 2 pounds...then I tried again, and it stayed the same. :( I actually stomped my foot on the scale, and told it to go back to the first weight it told me! :rotfl2: But after trying yet a 3rd time and having it still tell me I gained a pound, I guess it was the truth. Oh well. This week I'll do better! I had a horrible week last week, a lot was going on. :confused3

Just to let you know, because of your last trip report, I was on a mission to fine Thumper and Miss Bunny on my last trip to AK. I also found Marie. Thanks for the information and pictures.

Don't beat yourself up over a pound! I think that over a holiday weekend, that is perfectly acceptable! The way I look at it, we have to give ourselves opportunities to splurge and enjoy the moment - otherwise, dieting would be just that much more miserable.

I definitely didn't eat healthy over the holiday, either! But, you just have to be extra careful now. Don't beat yourself up over it!!

LOL, no problem! Aren't the bunnies so adorable? I really wish they had a stuffed Miss Bunny for sale somewhere in AK, she's so cute! :lovestruc

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm not too upset about it, it's just a whole week went by that I could have lost more and I end up gaining! It's so frustrating, it's so hard!!!! :)

It's so hard to eat healthy during holidays...it didn't help that I also went to a wedding that weekend, who goes to a wedding and doesn't eat? :rotfl: I'm definitely going to be extra careful this week, I really want to get to my first 5 pounds! :yay:

Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a great weekend so far! :)

Originally, when I was planning this update yesterday, I was going to talk about all the special, different things I was considering doing at Disney this upcoming trip, since we saved so much money, switching resorts and getting free dining! :)

Then I started thinking...wouldn't it be great to add a day? So I went on the Disney website and priced it out to see how much more it would be to add a day :surfweb:. Not that bad! Then my next concern was flights...I've changed flights before with Southwest, but could never remember if they charge you a fee to change or not or just make you pay the difference if the flights you are changing to are more. I checked the Transportation boards here and found out they don't charge a fee, yay! :yay: And the flight I wanted to change to on Friday was only going to be an extra $40! Practically nothing!

I was convinced that adding a day was a great idea! But my DH wasn't so sure...he said we had enough days there, even though I pointed out that our last day there, we were just flying home, and we were losing a Disney day because of Universal, and our arrival day is really only a half day. He wasn't too happy about adding a day, but he gave in! I immediately changed our flights online and then got on the phone with Disney and added our extra day!

I can't believe it! We're going for an extra day!!!! :cool1: :dance3: I'm sooooo excited! I was stressing about not having enough Disney time and not being able to fit everything in, and now, I feel a little better! Now we are going from November 12-November 20! :woohoo: Our longest Disney trip yet! (Eventually I'm going to work him up to 10 days!)

With an extra day, that meant I had to do some itinerary and ADR shuffling! I was almost having a panic attack about it last night...I could not figure out what to do with our days, it seemed like having that extra day was making it even harder! Eventually I figured everything out and came up with a plan that I'm happy with! :rolleyes1

With us coming in on Friday now instead of Saturday, that gives us more time at the Food and Wine Festival!

So we are planning on hitting Epcot Friday night when we arrive, and then Saturday night again to take advantage of being there the last weekend!

I shuffled around our ADR's for the first few days, we are now doing Tusker House on Saturday morning at 8:35 instead of Monday morning, and doing Le Chef's on Saturday also for dinner at 5:10 instead of on Sunday!

I also added a new ADR!

Sci-Fi_Dine-In_3.jpg

For lunch at Sci-Fi on Friday, our last day! :yay: After reading MarietheCat's PTR, and seeing how excited she was about going to Sci-Fi, then also talking to my niece about it yesterday (yes she's only 5, but she was going on and on about the milkshakes!) I knew I wanted to try to squeeze this in somewhere!

I also want to get to Boma at some point, but I'm not sure where to add that in. I really want to check out AKL so I can convince Brandon that we have to stay there next time! :)

I will post our tentative itinerary in a few days once I get it all finalized, there are still some days I'm not sure about, and I know over the course of the next few months I'm sure it will change!

Sorry for the LONG update! I'm just so excited and wanted to give you guys the full story! I'm off to change my ticker! :upsidedow

WOHO for an extra day! I did that on this trip, too!!

We LOVE Sci-Fi! They have a great burger there!!!

YAY! That's so awesome that you added an extra day!! :cool1:

And yay for eating at Sci Fi! I love that place! It's my favorite restaurant at HS. I just love the atmosphere so much! :lovestruc

Hooray for an extra day at Disney! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

You will LOVE Sci-Fi. Be sure to get a milk shake and the onion rings. :worship:

Yay for Sci Fi!!! We've eaten there faithfully since I was 7 and the food is just as good now as it was back then! Get the milk shakes for sure!

My only gripe about Sci Fi is it always seems like we have super slow service. I realize it takes a while to walk back and forth from the kitchen but who knows, maybe it's our bad luck! Aside from that, it's great!

Yay!!! :woohoo: I'm so excited you were able to add an extra day - I'm sure that made you really glad you ended up switching resorts! Isn't it nice when it works out that way?!

That's awesome you got to add an extra day! I love how flexible Southwest is. They make flying so much easier (and cheaper).

POR is so nice. We've stayed there once before and we really enjoyed it. The food court is one of the best ones at a resort, imo. They have tons of options and I really like the theming. You definitely need to go over to WL, though, to see all the decorations. Just make sure to take a TON of pictures for me. :thumbsup2
