Chapter 18. No more Power Rangers???

As with many people my age, the Power Rangers were a big part of our childhood.

I watched this show up until high school! Only stopping because TV stopped airing shows. I loved the Ninja Storm series. :lovestruc

As a little girl, I crushed on the Silver Ranger, and wanted to be the Yellow Ranger.

But now I hear they've been sold back to their previous owner, and so won't be at the Hollywood Studios for much longer!!!

Their last day is Aug.7! Why????? Why just 10 days before I visit???

On my last trip to WDW, as soon as I saw the Rangers out for pictures, I got in line for the Silver Ranger (of course). The CM with him told us he'll only be around for another 30 minutes. With about 6 kids in front of me, I thought for sure they would be done in time for my picture.

But after the first five have their individual and group pictures taken with the ranger.....they whipped out their........you guessed it, AUTOGRAPH BOOKS!

So......their short encounters with the ranger turned into a long one. Then, just as it was my turn.......CM says, "Sorry folks, the Silver Ranger needs to go back to the base"

:sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1: And they all left for their break. It was the last photo op of the day with the Rangers, and this was my only day at MGM Studios.

One of the things I was looking forward to was finally getting a picture with the Silver Ranger! When I was lining up, I had already had a pose in mind and everything!

So this, everybody, is why I don't really care for those autograph books. :headache:

Aw that sucks!! I'm so sorry no Power Rangers for you!

I am not going to lie I hate people bringing those stupid autograph books to the parks. They waste so much time and then kids forget them half the time so it wastes more time when the character has to return them. I hate them dang it!

I usually don't character pictures anyway, but i still think its weird that they're suddenly getting rid of the power rangers. Hmmm....
There are also gonna be quite a few rides down when we go too. Ive never been on TSM and was really looking forward to it, and its gonna be closed!!! Along with Star tours, its a small world and...ok theres one other but i cant remember it  but im still very

Only 86 days!!! That doesnt seem like too much!!!

Hey Yuki! All caught up! Wow, sorry Andrew's dad is such a butthead. How sad. You are adorable - I don't know how he couldn't see that! Has he seen the pictures of you two dressed up in costume? Although, I bet he doesn't have much of a sense of humor , so maybe he wouldn't find that as cute as I did. :confused3

Anyway, cup o noodles, huh? I guess I've had those once or twice. They're like the ramen noodles that come in their own styrofoam cup, right? Which reminds me of one of my pet peeves - when people call them "roman noodles." Hello! Roman? Really?

Yes! A like-minded person!

WHAT?????? TSM IS FOR REALS GOING TO BE DOWN???? I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST RUMOUR!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I'm talking about the styrofoam cup ones. Except they now come in so many different forms! Styrofoam, paper, plastic, the whole she-bang!

Roman noodles??? :rotfl2::rotfl2: I've never heard anyone say that, but I can see how that would be a pet peeve.

I just call them cup-noodles, to distinguish them from the instant noodles that you have to actually cook in a pot or hot stove. During my first year in university, I would cook those noodles in my small rice cooker!

thats what I thought too until I had seen some website. Its not disney related but has to do with the Orlando area in general (unfortunetly I forget the name :headache:) and it always has information about what rides and attractions are scheduled to be down for places like disney, universal studios and sea world. Under TSM it had "pending", then about a week later it said "likely" for the time frame we're going in :sad1::sad1::sad1:

Hi Yuki!

I am back (thankfully) again from my school trip and our short trip to DLRP!

It's very likely that TSM will be closed while we are there! :sad2: Stitchkingdom says Aug 15 - Sept 4! Might cut down our DHS time a bit if it is not open! ;)

Hey Karin! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

Awwww, poopers about TSM! I was really looking forward to that ride!

It's going to throw my HS touring plans off a bit.... I guess I'll have more time to relax at the pool after the park? Since I'm heading home the next day.

same! Luckily im a die-hard TOT fan so i'll probably go on that an extra fifty times before spending some extra down time at the hotel!:rotfl:

Chapter 19. A quick update

I'm real sorry about my absense lately. Life has been....a bit rocky recently.

On top of the whole DBF's dad thing, Andrew is leaving for Taiwan soon and won't be back until just days before our trip.

He was only supposed to be gone for a month, but now it has stretched to 3 months, mainly because of his dad. :sad1:

There was a flight change on my return flight from Orlando. Instead of landing in JFK, then transferring to EWR for our connecting flight, we don't need to leave JFK! So my worries about finding a way to get from JFK to EWR have disappeared! :cool1:

A couple of days ago, while trying to rear park in underground parking....I crashed a bit into one of the pillars and now my left rear bumper corner has a bent and the bumper has torn.

Does anybody know how much it would cost to fix that? Should I post up a picture? This is my first ever car and I go ahead and mess it up.:sad2: Good thing it's not a new car. This car has been in my family since 2002. It was just recently passed down to me and I was going to take pictures to share with you guys too.

On another upside, I have dropped 2 of the 4 online courses I am taking. It was just WAY too much for me. So hooray for more free time! :woohoo: In relation to this new free time, I have been given an extra shift at my work place!

Also, I can't believe I forgot this, but I was planning to go to WDW with my cousins in 2013. That leaves 2012 wide open for Peepfest! Looks like I'll be able to make it to the June one after all! I just need to stay off-site, but that's no problem for me at all.

I had a conversation with my mom about my passport expiring sometime in 2012. I told her I would need to renew it before then. She looked at me strange and said, "You're going back so soon???" To which I replied, "Ofcourse!" :rotfl: I love my mommy.

I swear, I will get a real update up soon. Still want to put up pictures of my Walmart loot. See y'all later!

Chapter 20. Future trips!

Ever since I was 10, my family has gone on annual trips in the summer. They were usually small 4-5 day bus touring trips to close-by states like Chicago or to the other provinces in Canada. (PS. I love PEI)

The last two years though, due to economic difficulties, we were unable to take any trips, not even a short weekend trip to New York.

But now, I've become a lot more financially sufficient and am also old enough to travel by myself or with a few friends of mine.

Ok....I'm not sure where I was going with that....:confused3

Bottomline, I've been planning trips way into the future to make up for my lack of it.

For 2011, I've planned to take a long weekend trip during our Thansgiving to Vegas with a couple of friends of mine. I went to vegas in 2007 with my family and LOVED IT :lovestruc The hotels, the buffets, the shows, the stores! (M&M store FTW!)

I'm planning on renting a car to get around easier. Does anyone know how old I have to be to rent a car in the States? I hear things like, some companies will charge more if you're under a certain age, or some companies won't let you rent anything. I'll be 21 by then.

We've planned to stay at the Mirage. I know, I know, it SOUNDS pricey. But after a price-check, it's SURPRISINGLY very affordable! Especially being of the 4-star variety and right in the middle of the strip. It also has this incredible swimming area much like the CBR has.

I'll have to watch at least ONE show. How many shows I actually watch really depends on how much money I can save up.

I hear Celine Dion is going back to Vegas. I KNOW, she's a joke to much of the US, but I still :lovestruc her. I've been a fan since I was a very little girl. Her music just makes me cry. And after all these years, her voice is just as incredible.

Since Vegas will be more than half the price of this year's WDW trip, I'm trying to see if I can sneak a cruise in there. A May cruise would be perfect. It'll be my first summer off since I started school in Jan 2008. I'm looking into a 5 day Caribb cruise. Unfortunately, DCL doesn't sail there at that time. I'm thinking of Royal Caribbean because I've sailed with them before and love it.

For 2012 there is of course, Jordy's Peepfest!

Now, I'm a bit conflicted with this. The thought of going to WDW in June/July right out scares me :scared1: It just doesn't seem worth it for all the upped prices of EVERYTHING. At the same time, the February ones lookes REALLY GOOD. But I only have one week off of school in Feb and it might not fall on that week.

I've been looking at off-site options for if I choose to go in June. There is just no way I can afford to stay on-site. And there is rarely any sort of room discounts in the middle of summer. My first trip to WDW, I stayed off site and really loved it. I also get a lot more in off-site hotel than in the value resorts. Ie.coffee maker, fridge, sometimes free breakfast. And most places offer free shuttling to the parks anyways.

Because it's mainly a DIS thing, I didn't even think of bringing Andrew. I know he just wouldn't be interested. I know my mom probably wouldn't let me go by myself, so I'm thinking of bringing my little sister.

It'll be a sisters trip! We can also spend a day at Universal Studios because I know she's dying to go to the HP world. :wizard:

I've looked around on Mouse Savers and Allears and the Beuna Vista Suites sound amazing. One bedroom suites for less than $100 at the time I'll be going, PLUS free breakfast. It sounds very sweet :thumbsup2

For 2013, I know this is a LOONG way off, but I've been thinking about this since last year. The idea for this trip came up when I realized that my aunt will probably never want to take her kids to WDW, for a couple of reasons.

A: She took them to Hong Kong Disneyland when they went back to visit family a couple of years ago and just didn't like the experience at all.
B: Her english isn't very good, so she would come across problems that would be hard to solve.
C: She's not a fan of amusement parks. Spending a whole day in a park, walking and sweating everywhere, she just won't like it. But unfortunately, she'll still have to pay the price of a full ticket. (At our local themepark, parents can buy a "no-ride" ticket that's half the price of the regular one. They just need to wear a wrist band)

I KNOW my two younger cousins would love Disney. So she actually asked me to take them. Of course, I agreed! :thumbsup2

So, why for 2013? This is the year my younger cousin of the two, graduates from elementary school! I saw it as a motivator for them to do well in school. "Keep working hard and I'll take you to DisneyWorld!", sort of deal.

My siblings got wind of this plan and looked at me with puppy dog eyes. How could I say no to those? I added them into the mix. And naturally, Andrew will be with me. (Unless complications with his dad come up..:sad2:, but let's hope not)

So from a party of 3, it turned into a party of 6!

So far, the plans are to either get two rooms at POP, or get a suite and a room at ASMu. To save cash, I'll probably go with the two rooms idea. 3 girls and 3 boys in each room, it works out perfectly!

At that time, my cousins will be 14 and 16. Remember puberty? And how much you ate? I remember. Which is why I've planned to get the QSDP. We'll be going in late August, so let's hope there'll still be free dining by then! *crosses fingers*

To top all this off, my aunt will be paying for most of it! So I don't have to worry so much about money. Which is good because this is the year I've planned to send my parents on a cruise for their 25th anniversary.

If anyone has sailed to the Eastern Caribbeans, can you let me know about your experiences? Which cities should I choose for them to go to? I hear a lot about St.Thomas and St.Maarten. There are so many options. I want my parents to go to places that will have things for them to do. They like visiting historical places and walking trails and shopping (well, my mom does). I'm planning to send them on a 7-night cruise.

And that's it for now folks. I'm already looking into my future travels! I'm planning on creating welcome baskets for my cousins for when we arrive, and I will also be picking up some Disney Dollars on this trip for them.

Oh yes! It's my baby brother's birthday today! He turns 18!! They grow up so fast....

You have to be 25 to rent a car in the US. At least in my experiance that is what has happened to me. I'm finally old enough to rent a car. :P

Because of the economic times most Vegas hotels are really really cheap. But if your staying on the strip you really don't need a car. Unless you plan on leaving the strip. There is so much to see and do there that it's kind of a waste to have one. I go to Vegas ........ A LOT. My FIL lives there. So, can you do Vegas on the cheap heck ya! We go to the Bellagio Buffet cause it's got everything you can imagine or want. And if they don't have it they'll cook it for you.

I saw a few shows in Vegas. Some of the Adult ones. I liked Zumanity and I liked Bite at the Stratosphere. I've also enjoyed The Lion King that is at the Mandalay Bay. Vegas is great! We are going for the 4th of July! I can't wait just one more month!

Hey Yuki! Big update - lots of cool future plans you got going there!

Yes, you do have to be 25 to rent a car at most major car rental companies, but there used to be one or two that would rent to a 21 year old, although at a premium. I'll check into it and see if that's still the case. Although, you'd probably get off cheaper taking the occasional cab. Staying on the strip - you won't need it much.
