When we were getting a military passport for myself in order to move to Australia, I realized I didn't have a certified copy of my birth certificate - just the one the hospital gives out. So, I had to order one. Glad you guys got that taken care of!
Yeah..Jeff only had the certificate the hospital gives too. I'm glad it was so easy to get!
It's a little overwhelming shopping in a place like that. In Jamaica all the shop owners try to entice you into their little stall instead of any other. Lots of "hey honey, you look over here", etc. And you have to be willing to say NO nicely and walk away. Some will try to make you feel guilty for offering a price they think is too low...you have to just roll with it!
Alaska is one place I just have no interest in. I feel like I live in Alaska half the time living here in the frozen tundra that is upstate New York in the winter. Jeff's parents did an Alaskan cruise several years ago and really enjoyed it.
Missy, love the binder so cute! Looks like you hit it truly in the middle of the ship good choice. I have heard (not sure if it is true) but that apples help with seasickness. Also, glad you guys realized it about the birth certificate now and not a week before (Like I would have probably done)--just an FYI a girlfriend told me about the US also has a passport card for cruises from land only...I believe she said it was only $25 but no clue how long it takes to apply
Congrats on deciding on Magic Kingdom! good choice (but, I think either would have been a great choice--but, I agree with you on your choice reasons).
I have never been snorkleing that does sound like a great deal of fun...and I really hope Jeff is practicing his haggling...fun!!
Thanks Connie! Sometimes it pays to be a planner! NY has an enhanced drivers license that can be used in lieu of a passport to go to Canada and the Caribbean. But...Jeff's license is not up for renewal yet and since you can use the BC and your driver's license we decided to do that rather than pay the extra for a new license. (We already had to pay $30 for the new BC!) The only issue we will have is if for some odd reason he needs to fly out of the Bahamas back to the US. The BC/license is only suitable for closed-loop cruises, no air travel. If that happens...I guess he'll have to live in the Bahamas!
I get the "all travel without getting to the vacation". I think, however, that the modern cruise ship has so many on-board activities that it is just a big floating resort! Then the excursions at port are just icing on the cake! You can either book your excursions through the cruise line or go out on your own and do it independently. It's more costly to go through the cruise line for the most part, but the advantage is they make sure you are back to the ship before it leaves port. If an independent trip is planned, you're on your own..they'll leave ya! We are only doing a cruise line sponsored excursion in CoCo Cay because it is a private island..no independent activities other than just the beaches.
I love a good list...I use lists for every aspect of my life, but there's nothing quite as exciting as a vacation to-do list! As of today, I have 53 days until I leave for Orlando!! 
I'm so glad I didn't have to wander aimlessly through the sewing aisles and show my complete lack of skills! LOL! 
All I had to do was measure, cut, and tie. Should be easy, right? 
Well, after some initial struggles, I learned that using the pizza cutter to make indentations in the fabric where I had to cut was so much easier than trying to use the ruler as a guide. Yep..the pizza cutter. 
The pizza cutter worked great! So, I was off to the races! It got faster and easier as I went and Jeff and I actually worked together. On my blanket, I measured and cut while he came behind and tied and we switched jobs on his blanket. All in all it took a little over 3 hours for us to finish both blankets. And believe it or not, they turned out pretty cute. Here are a few pictures of Jeff and I working on our project.
Oh my goodness..what are we going to do with all that space?? Anyway, so now instead of the Doubletree Castle, we are staying at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort in a two bedroom deluxe suite. This is a description of the room and the resort from the website. 
AKL is such a beautiful resort!! We didn't have nearly enough time to look around as I would have liked when we went in August! Hoping we get a chance to in the future!
