Moms to Be Part 3

locolala-That's the car seat we have! We were given the car seat, so we bought the cortina stroller in cubes (gray on gray) so it goes, but isn't an exact match. I love the set, though! That's great that you're getting so much together!

I'm an uber planner. I have to have EVERYTHING set in place or I can't function lol. They've told me that there's a good chance I'll deliver a premie so I want to have all this in place by May. I'm glad you like the system and I'm glad to hear more positive reviews :D

I just got back from a tummy check appointment. The doctor was running on time this time, thank goodness! :goodvibes My Beta strep test came back positive so they said that I will need to take antibiotics when I am at the hospital in labor. Anyone else need to do this?

Everything else was ok. Got to hear the heartbeat which is always a great sound! My appointments now go to every week! Every Friday starting next week. Wow! It's getting down to the wire. Almost time to meet baby girl! :goodvibes

edited to add: don't google Beta Strep. I just read a lot of information that I didn't want to and now am freaked out!

Mine came back positive with my twins. The antibiotics burned when they went in (through the IV every four hours), but putting a cold pack on over the IV site helped a little bit. My kids were/are fine if that's any consolation. I guess it's just another one of those things to be aware of so it can be dealt with.

Things are going well here! Definately feeling movement, she's a wiggleworm still! I woke up suddenly (DH's phone went off and scared the crud outta me) and she woke up suddenly too, kicking the carp out of me. My mom and I went shopping yesterday and picked out my stroller set! We're getting the Chicco Cortina in adventure, which is a green/grey/white combo. It's SO pretty! I drove the stroller around the whole store, it's really nice. I can fold it up and lift it by myself which is really important for me. Mom is buying the travel system, and my dad is buying the play yard that matches. Mom also is buying the bedding set, which is purple with butterflies all over it.

So.. all in all.. EXCITED!! I can't wait to meet Aline :D

How exciting!! You're farther along in your shopping than I am and I'm a lot farther along, lol. I plan to do some shopping over the next week. DH messed up his W4 last year and taxes have been withheld at at the single person rate all year, so we are as a family of five, getting quite a bit back. Knowing that that was coming I decided to just wait and use some of that money to buy all the baby gear all at once. The return should hit tomorrow or Friday so I will be going nuts then!

We are also getting the Chicco carseat- is it the keyfit? They seem to have the best reviews and safety ratings and the least recalls. For the stroller, I'm splurging a little and getting the Bumbleride with the bassinet attachment. We're really busy with the three older kids and also planning a few weekends away as well as an 11 day trip to WDW in August so we figured we ought to splurge a bit to get something that will be comfy for baby and easy for us. One big selling point was the adjustable handle- DH is a foot taller than I am so that will be nice. The plan is that when we travel while Baby is still very little, we could probably get away with using the stroller's bassinet for bedtime. Do you guys think that will work or am I just crazy??

I haven't done any shopping yet either! I've gotten quite a few gifts already, even though I haven't had a shower yet. I'm planning on using my return to get the kind of stuff some people don't think to buy you...soap, lotion, pacifiers, sleepers, socks that kind of stuff. Plus my bedroom/nursery is nowhere near where it needs to be and since my parents will be out of the state (WDW AGAIN! I'm so jealous) the first week of may, also 3 weeks before I'm due I feel like I need to get everything done right away so its not a mad rush to do it all when I'm a beach ball.

I have to tell someone this because it is sooo new to me. I have this friend who happens to be male, not a boyfriend because he's moving and we would rather not commit but a friend who I'm totally in love with and who also is in love with me...who loves my baby too!:lovestruc I really didn't know that some men could be so attached to someone elses child, when we sit by each other he rubs his hand on my belly and when the baby kicks he tries to feel it. He tells me all the time how he can't wait to hold her. I don't know what role he will play in her life, dad or uncle or something like that or just a friend but apparently he wants to be there. I'm so elated about this, it makes my heart just beat so fast! I haven't really told my family any of this because they haven't had the chance to get to know him yet, we've been this way for awhile but due to my current preggers situation I'm not sure how my protective daddy will feel about another guy right now. So I wanted to tell someone and it gets to be you. Thanks for reading!

Can I ask something? How are you other first trimester moms coping? I am absolutely EXHAUSTED. I'm a SAHM to a 2.5 year old girl, and OMG, I'm run ragged. I feel terrible that I'm not really "fun mom" right now. I can tell she gets frustrated with me sometimes because I'm not just jumping up to do something, and I'm a lot slower than usual.
Luckily she's taking the morning (all day) sickness pretty well, she just makes periodic stops to the toilet to lean over make "bleh bleh ppppphhhhhhhttt" noises. (Its actually hilarious...)

It was so much easier be pregnant last time when I didn't have a kiddo to take care of. I wish I could ask for help, but other than DH, I don't really have anyone. I so wish I did!!

Oh, I'm exhausted too.

DH will come home from work and laugh because I'll have half a thing of laundry folded and thats it.

I was just telling DH yesterday I don't know how I did what I did with Lucas- I was a full-time student and I worked, too. I don't remember being this bone-numbingly-tired.

Mrs. Charming, I've had days of pure exhaustion too. I feel out of it and have no energy whatsoever. In fact, I got a speeding ticked on one of those days. I was totally not paying attention to what I was doing.

The last few days I have been feeling great. I am 11w4d today so I'm almost at my 2nd trimester and the morning sickness is gone. Actually it left around 10w so I am not disappointed at that. Maybe it will wrap up soon for you as well. :)

I get nothing done either.. I sorted socks the other day and it was like a monumentous task! I think DH was expecting a little more at first but now I'm pretty much incapable, lol. Oh well, I get my sleep, he gets his video game time. Nothing gets done, but eh... if he doesn't mind, I don't either! :lmao:

I'm absolutely worn out! The morning sickness part has passed and now I'm just exhausted every single day. And, it's not that I'm nesting or cleaning the floor with a toothbrush - not much out of the ordinary is getting done - I'm just so tired!

I tested positive for the Beta strep too. If all goes well and my water doesn't break first, I don't think I will have to do the antibiotics because of the C section. But it is good to know in case it does. I googled it too and yikes!!! One more thing to feel yucky about...where the heck did I even get it from?

Yeah, I'm still taking 12 credit hours but opted to take online courses this semester. They're still kicking my butt:lmao:. If I can tell my DH is particularly underwhelmed with what I've accomplished I'll just tell him that I'm not behind in school and in my book, that's good enough!
I cleaned the kitchen when I put Lucas down for a nap yesterday and then I was ready for a nap! :headache:

Anyone else sleeping like crap???
I've had insomnia for most of my life, so I'm pretty used to it... but I slept like a baby when I was pregnant for DS. I want that sleep back! :sad1: I don't know why but I'm sleeping like crap this time around. I think I fell asleep at 3am and sure enough, 6am... yep. I was awake, going back to sleep was not an option.

Yes! I keep waking up at 3:30am and not being able to get back to sleep until after 5 and then have to get up at 6:15... it's miserable. And I'm pretty sure it's contributing to all the sudden tears. Last night I bawled my eyes out over dinner because I couldn't get the sour cream off a spoon and onto my food. Seriously.

And now I feel like garbage because I found out I have to travel week after next for work and I've been so sore and in pain I'm not sure I can handle 3-4 nights away from home. Not to mention I had to move my big u/s from monday to friday of that week. :( Monday was perfect too because DD had the day off from school and she really wants to go and find out the baby's gender. So I shut the door to my office and bawled for like half an hour.

Why is everything harder this time? Is it just because I'm 8 years older? I want to be done already!

seriously! one site said that there is nothing you do to get it and it just lives inside you, you don't have any symptoms so you don't know that you have it. great. I'm "glad" that someone else tested positive so I know I'm not the only one :goodvibes

I'm a little worried about the group b strep, since I'm allergic to so many antibiotics. It may not be as bad for me since I'm having a c/s but still.. probably be a little worried.

Today I've been watching baby shows on Discovery health, to keep my mind off the impending snow storm (2 feet of snow.. ugh). I wonder if this is really a good idea lol.

Ugh, I am completely exhausted too. And it doesn't help that I started coming down with a cold 2 days ago. :sad2: DH gave it to me, so he wasn't much help last week or over the weekend, but he is feeling better now, and is cooking for me and even went grocery shopping! :thumbsup2 He's also great with DS, calls him his "tail" because he follows him everywhere! :rotfl2:

Luckily I don't really have morning sickness, just mild nausea. I didn't with DS either, until the 2nd trimester when I got a sinus infection, then I was absolutely miserable. Has anyone taken anything for a cold during the 1st trimester? I have only taken tylenol so far, because I'm not sure I feel safe taking anything else so early.

Charming - :rotfl: at your DD pretending to have morning sickness! Does she know you're pregnant yet?

For those of you that are on your 2nd or more pregnancy, when did you tell the older children? DS will be 3 in less than 2 weeks, and really wants a baby, but has no concept of time. And he repeats everything he is told, so I think I will wait until at least the end of the 1st trimester to tell him so he doesn't tell to many other people! :rotfl:

Those TLC and Discover Health shows are addicting but so bad. I just can't stop watching them either.

Had a fetal assessment again yesterday. It was good, same as the last one. Baby is at the 50th percentile still which is perfect. No issues. I think I will be having assessments every week from now on.

Saw the OB today for the first time, I have another appt. With her for March 8th. If I don't have the baby by then we will be talking options. Goal is to go into labour on my own by then. She said my midwife can strip my membranes to help that going if needed. She also said to have lots you-know-what and lots of walking. I told her this baby is low and pounds on my cervix anyway. I called my midwife after with all the news this week and she said that if she has to strip my membranes I won't like her anymore...LOL

So right now everything is status quo. Can still have a home birth if I want or if I go to the hospital then my midwife is still my primary and will stay that way unless something comes up or if I don't have our baby by 39 weeks.

Got a note to be off of work Feb 15th because the doctor wants me to work hard on controlling my blood sugar and being on more of a regular schedule so I can stay off of insulin.

Plus with baby coming early anyway...

So nothing new. It's all good.

Wow, congrats on finding someone to share the pregnancy journey with. There are definitely men out there who will love "someone else's" baby. My Mom was pregnant with me and her husband was a real piece of work and left while she was pregnant. When I was maybe a month or so old, Mom's roommate brought over this guy, they were friends and he came over to hang out. I guess he totally ignored Mom's roommate and Mom and held me and played with me all night- I got the first date ;) Long story short he wound up marrying my mom and adopting me, but he's been my Dad since early on. So yes, there are definitely guys like that out there. :goodvibes

Will your baby's biological father be involved in any way?? Mine never was and was only too happy to sign away rights when the time came.

Okay, the thought of your little one mimicking those noises- :lmao: Kids are so hilarious sometimes

Yes, it is so much easier being pregnant with your first when you have the time to be a bit more selfish, although with my first I worked until I got put on bedrest, so I had to juggle work demands and schedules with being sick and whatnot. That stunk in it's own way. At least as a SAHM I could wear pj's all day and toss my hair in a ponytail every day and not leave the house unless absolutely necessary.

I hope you're feeling better soon

We had wanted to wait until as far along as possible to tell people because of my miscarriage last year, but I was so sick that people (like my mom) were beginning to really worry. I figured I'd much rather tell people I was pregnant than to have my mother keep thinking I had stomach cancer or something (i've had precancerous cells already). I dropped close to 30 pounds, vomited constantly, had massive migraines from being so dehydrated and just was completely useless. So, we told the kids (who thought we were joking) and let them tell everyone else.
