I should mention that Jackson didn't love to read in K. It was really a struggle at first. He always loved me to read to him (even super long books like Harry Potter).
He seems to be a lot like A. He was begging for a movie and I told him that if he learned to use the potty, he could have it (thinking I would not have to purchase the movie for a while). He decided right then and there he was potty trained. Same thing with pacifier, bottle, walking. He just gets something and takes off without looking back. The day he discovered he could take a step was the last day he crawled.
Looking back, I guess reading was like this too. I don't remember the struggle at first because he just loves it now. don't get me wrong, he will take his DS over a book any day, but DS time is very limited. Don't give up hope, she will probably jump right in.
I found Amelia Bedelia books difficult for Jackson. He didn't understand terms like "draw the drapes" and other things that made the book funny. I spent more time explaining why it was funny than we did reading. It was a good lesson in vocab, but just added to the frustration of learning to read too. Junie B Jones sometimes is spelled the way she talks, and not the correct spelling of the word. J could easily figure those things out and her struggles were right on target with how J felt. Even now, he asks me to read to him sometimes.
Ohana outfits- I picked up a light blue fabric that I think will work for the hawaiian print. I love the ones that you found at your JoAnns, but I already both the other, so I will make it work. Cooper has requested hula/elvis/stitch and Jackson wants Donald with a surfboard. I can really only find Minnie or Lilo in hawaiian theme. Who do you think Ash would prefer?
Thanks for more back up on the reading thing. This weekend we worked at reading baby books that she definitely knows all the words to and she was so thrilled. I also had her use her Tag and do the "point to each word" thing AFTER she tried sounding it out to see if she got it right. She liked that too. I really just need to make it a priority to do a little each day. Sometimes life gets in the way of that
Aisling loves Lilo but AGAIN (and I know this will fall on deaf ears), she doesn't HAVE to have something for O'Hana! Everyone is going to think you are my sister and that they are cousins you know! And then we will speak and totally confuse them!!!! LOL!
