just got a Keurig...we were recently dubbed the Keurig Krew......

I got my husband the Keurig Platnium last year for Christmas and we love it. I got the "my K cup", but, we've tried to use it numerous times and it never brews the coffee right. I guess we are using the wrong kind of coffee because the grinds start spilling out all over the place. I think the key is to use coffee that is very, very finely ground.

My husbands favorite is Timothy's Italian Blend and my favorite is Coffee People Donut Shop.

Andrea the trick is less coffee. You should have at least 1/4" of headspace in the My-K-cup, sometimes more, to not get grinds in your mug. At the very end of the brew cycle, the Keurig blasts a shot of air into every kcup to purge it. In the My-K-Cup the grinds expand in the filter and if there is too much it will exit the thin vents in the lid and into your mug.

The 2nd trick is finding a strong enough grind that allows you to get a decent cup of coffee using less grinds in the My-K-cup. I use Cafe Bustelo which is an espresso grind which I find strong enough for me to use a 9 or 11oz drop from the platinum.

Other good Timothy's are Parisian Nights and Rainforest Espresso. Both extra bolds.

Thanks George, I'm going to try both those tips. I was going to buy the Cafe Bustelo the other day too. I guess I will get it next time I'm in the store.

I bought my hubby a Keurig for Christmas. He said it is the best gift he has ever received. :)

Today at WalMart, we found an 18 pack of Paul Newman's Organic for $9.99.

Seeing that we have had ours since last night....I'm hardly an expert....but of the 6 I've tried (John has had 3 and I have had 3) the one I'm currently leading toward is Timothy's Melange Italien.

I add a bit of Sweet Italian Cream coffee creamer and it's a pretty freakin good cup of coffee.

We are still experimenting.

Oh...we made my Mom a cup of Celestial Seasons Mandarin Orange Spice herbal tea which was wonderful (Apparently, I've tried 7).

I just ordered a CASE of Golden French Toast, a box of Donut Shop and a box of decaf Donut House and my husband LOVES the Mandarin Orange Spice. The smell reminds me of those baby asprins from when I was little. LOL.

You should try the Coffeemate Amaretto creamer... It is SOOOOO good! :thumbsup2

Something else I recently found is Torani syrups. They are all non-fat, and are even offered in a sugar-free variety... I wouldn't recommend those though, LOL.

My favorites are almond and chocolate... They are even better when combined, and taste like a chocolate turtle pastry. :goodvibes

You can find them online at a steep discount, especially for 6 or 12-pack variety boxes. :)

Over the past year, we've tried a lot of different coffees. Bed Bath & Beyond sells a sampler with a whole bunch of different coffees, teas, and hot chocolates, it's nice when you have company over and everyone wants something different. Even after tasting all those coffees, my husband still likes the Italian Blend the best. I did see that Sweet Italian Cream creamer in the store, I may have to pick that up as well :rolleyes1

I did not make it through the night without making a coffewiz order. You people are pure evil. :)

I just got one today. Got it at BJ's. I thought it was the best deal I could find. Must go online to find some new teas to try......

I got mine in 2005 so I use it everyday. Still works as well as it did when I got it. I recommend the carousel to put the cups in. I love love German Chocolate Cake Coffee!!! I use it to make ice tea as well. Just fill my glass with ice and make the tea.

I think everyone of my friends has one now since I got mine. They have all converted. :cool1: Now I wonder if my new bidet will take off as well?? :rotfl2:

Also....just learned something.

I discovered a tea that I love.

It's Blackberry Sage and made by Republic of Teas.

It comes in a tea bag, but it works great in the My K-cup device without the little basket insert. You just use the little gray cup.

Makes an awesome cup of tea in seconds.

Bigelow makes some nice tea's under their Celestial Seasonings logo and they are available in K-cups. my favorite "Constant Comment" i have not found in a K-cup yet.

I like the looks of the second one better. I keep meaning to pick one up. It would probably look nicer on the counter than the stack of boxes I currently have. =)

I just love my Keurig. :goodvibes

I got it this past summer and instantly was a fan when I learned I could make iced tea by the glass. Some of the flavored ones are wonderful iced.

For those that like iced coffees - I found a trick to making them come out really well.
First, I fill a heat resistant 12 oz glass with ice, then I add about 1/2 cup of milk to the ice, then brew your coffee into a cup on the smallest cup size setting and finally pour the coffee into the glass with the milk. Just a quick stir blends it all together.
Just a note - I find it works out best if you use one of the "bold" style coffees. Emirel's - Big Blue Easy is my favorite

Glad to hear that tea bags work in the empty my-k-cup Kevin. Deb is a big tea drinker but only Salada. She won't touch a flavored tea k-cup.

Where can I find this in a K-kup?
