After our last vacation, I came home to a sparkling house. One of my best friends came in and cleaned the day before we got back. I always scrub before we go but after 9 days, it's all dusty again. I felt like I won the lottery when I walked in to that!

Here's an idea... ask MIL to stay home this time, and see if she'll volunteer to tidy it up before you get back. Tell her the penguin probably won't be around this time, and therefore will be no magical healings...

same here....part of it is because I'm too tired to even think about unpacking so the luggage explodes all over the living room..

MIL is NOT a cleaner.....have you ever seen the show hoarders or people on Oprah who live in complete mess with just little pathways?

that's how I normally feel the week before.....but I always work best under pressure....at least that's how I rationalize my procrastination.

i always clean everything before i go on vacation, too. my bf doesn't get it, because then you leave exhausted - he doesn't seem to realise i'd rather leave exhausted than come home and get even more so!

On previous trips, I've planned and planned and planned somemore. Studied the hours of each park and agonized over where to eat and getting up at 3a.m. to make the adr's.

I guess I'm slipping....or becoming a little more normal...depending on who you ask.

I have 3 months till the trip and I'm only on my 1st draft of the itenerary.
I've decided that this trip will be drama free and full of relaxing. That should be interesting because we've never taken a relaxing vacation.

But this time feels different. Since it's just the 2 of us and we've been several times before, I don't feel the need to cram as much into the time as possible.
We know what are our must do's are and what we don't need to worry about.

This trip, I'm not focused on every ropedrop......we'll see how well that goes.

So here's the first draft....I'm sure it will change a few if not many times...I'm still waiting for the hours to be released.
