TEMPORARY Poly FAQ....until we can get an official one going!

I sent a message to Canadian Guy to see if he can recreate the first few pages or if we need to start from scratch....

I am leaving next Friday, 10/02, with my DS 12, to celebrate his birthday. We will be staying until Oct 10. We went in March and stayed at the Pop, and I have been many times, but this is our first time at the Poly. I am in a Garden view room, but may upgrade at check-in to a Theme park view. Just wondering is there anything I should not miss there at the Poly? We are counting the days!!! and watching this board.

ACK! They shut us down before we could get the new one up! :scared1:We can continue on from here until we can work on getting a official one restarted! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2140273

Thanks for getting the TEMPORARY Poly faqs started! :thumbsup2

Hi! We'll be there at the same time and we have two DS ages 10 & 12. We'll be in the Hawaii building. Can't help you with Poly stuff to do, other than what I've read here at the DIS. I know I saw a thread about what not to miss while at the Poly...have fun and not too much longer now! :goodvibes

disneyrazz,

If you're certain you'd like to upgrade, then my strong advice is to do it NOW, to make sure you can get it (if they're not already sold out). Yes, if you're on a package you'll have to pay for it immediately as opposed to paying for it at the front desk (if it's available), but if it's important to you, take care of it NOW.

Must dos at Poly?

Watch the Electrical Water Pageant once.

Watch Wishes from the beach once (unless you get that Theme Park View room, and in that case watch it from your balcony).

Wake up early and face towards the lagoon and even though it should be very quiet all around, listen carefully for the sounds of MK slowly waking up, like the steam trains making their first runs. If you look carefully, you'll be able to SEE the plumes of steam as the locomotives make their circuit of MK. In addition, enjoy the glass-like flat surface of the lagoon, before the ferries and rental boats start their days.

DEFINITELY take in the Torch Lighting Ceremony at least once. It'll be around dinner time-ish each night; check with the desk for a schedule. I'd ignored it all week, and while lounging in the lobby killing time before our Disney's Magical Express bus was to pick us up, I noticed a hubbub outside and went to investigate, then RAN for my camera and my family, in that order. Here are some pics of the ceremony:

Pineapple Macademia pancakes at the Kona. Just returned (stayed at VWL this trip) and made a special trip over to the Poly for those wonderful pancakes!
Also agree with other post ... early morning on the beach listening to the MK "wake up" ... and some fantastic sunrise photos! Enjoy your stay!:tink:

Ooh better sub to this.

Cleverocks, awesome pics, we are planning to do everything on your to do list as we want to soak as much of the Poly in as possible :)

:surfweb:
Is this our new site?
Or, are we just hanging here while we wait for the new one to get started?
In the meantime...wishing lots of pixie dust for those at Poly and those soon to be there.

Good morning.....I'm in! My little notebook is getting quite full but there's still room for more great tips, so keep them coming!

Welcome! I will be there when you arrive! :cool1:

Just be aware that your TA made a reccomendation and request on your behalf. No one really knows where the room assigners will put you. In my exprience, every longhouse has beautiful views! The only people who are guaranteed a longhouse location are those staying club level. The standard rooms are in Hawaii.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation and maybe we will see you there :thumbsup2

Hi Poly lovers

I have heard from Knox aka Canadian Guy. Here says to just go ahead a copy and paste from the original thread. Since SeaSpray started that thread I am awaiting her approval to use some of her information.

Otherwise, I will try and get a new OFFICIAL thread up and going later today. If anyone has any pics or info they would like to share please feel free to send to me via PM and I will send you my e-mail address.

Thanks guys! Hopefully we can work together to get a new edition up and running!!

We check in tomorrow WOOOHOOO!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

We are in Florida already and man is it hot. We got here on Monday night and what a HUGE difference in the weather here from our New England weather. We barely had one week of ninety degree weather this summer. Today is in the 90's and supposed to feel like 100! :scared1:

We are in the West Palm Beach area today and there are lots of thunderstorms around. Hopefully they will stay down south here as I head back up North to magical Orlando and wonderful POLY.:yay::woohoo::banana:

....hopefully I can get a chance tomorrow to come by and say hi! We can swap addresses for Fairy Godmail. I was to usy driving people nuts and catching up after IDPH. Sadly, I call in work orders and look for safety problems when I first arrive and then I go have a few cocktails to mush my mind....sad isn't it?

Way to go, Breezysmom! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

SeaSpray, I hope all is well with you.

We just got home last night from 12 nights at WDW. Great trip but we did miss the Polynesian. Had breakfast twice at Kona so did get a touch of Polynesian magic. Gary who had been at Kona since the 80s has retired and moved back North. We missed him but knew he had been trying to make the move for a couple years so are very happy for him.

Have fun everyone going soon.:wizard:
