To all my fellow Disfriends I want you to know what has been going on in my life. It has not been good news but I am alive to tell the story. Most of you know I lost my dear father in law to cancer on Jan 9. Don and his family were at his side and HE allowed dad to be coherent to recognize the kids and mom.
On that Friday evening I went shopping after work with Sheri and started feeling crummy so I went home. Don got the call about his dad so he drove to his mom's and left me to my own devices. Saturday Sandi arrived to be there for the services that were to be visitation on Monday and Services Tuesday afternoon. Don stayed at his Mom's during this time. By Monday the 11th I was ill. Sheri came and took me to my pcp. He gave me a shot for the nausea and said to watch my blood sugar. If they went passed 400 to go straight to the hospital. It ended up that Sheri, Sandi and Austin went to the visitation that evening. Mike and Andrew stayed with me. As most of you know my dear friend is a nurse so they kept in tabs with her all day. About 5 that evening my blood sugar was 388. Cindy is on the way. After a quick ride to the hospital and sitting in the waiting room for about 2 hours the triage people get in charge. There had been a little boy ahead of me since 2 pm that still had not been seen. They called the little boy back then me. There were at least 9 people ahead of me. They immediately did a CBC which revealed my blood count being so abnormal. It was maybe 15 minutes after that they had put me in a room. By this time it is close to 8:30. My family is all with me, yes, even Don. Sandi voted to stay and take care of grandma so she wouldn't be alone.
By midnite they had all the docs on my case and I was admitted.
For those of you who don't know. I have AML type M1. It is luekemia the type M1 means I make baby white cells. You aren't supposed to. All of those baby cells need to grow up but they aren't. A normal blood count is: red blood-10-14, white cells 14,000 and platelets 10,000. My red blood was 7.2, white cells 209,000 and platelets 3. White blood cells is what fights infection.
On Tuesday they implanted a Groschon catheter in my chest so they can use it for all the drugs and blood drawing and don't have to use the veins. On Tuesday the 12th I started 7 days of chemo.
I had a bone marrow biopsy on Monday night and the results were not good as we wanted.
After 7 days of chemo (yes, most of what little hair I had is gone) the did a repeat bone marrow biopsy. Only to discover that the first chemo did nothing. The first is to have the 'blasts' go to like 30% of your cells. I still had 90% active. So we started the next go round of chemo and I finished it on Sunday. I will not get a biopsy for another several days to see if the 'super chemo' worked. I know I wll be here at least 3 more weeks at this time. If it did I will get to go home in 3 weeks for a bit before having to return for rounds 2 and 3. Main goal is to hit remission. The docs have been very upfront (which I like) and have informed me everytime I do chemo and it doesn't work my chances of recovery drop 30%. That is just what I will deal with at the end of this round.
I am going to ask the moderators to close my thread regarding my trip as my life has done such a turn around.
Doesn't mean I don't love Disney nor do I want to lose my dear friends I have discovered on this ridulous journey (Who would have ever thought this one up). But right now I'm just busy fighting for my life and I need the healing time.
I'm so very thankful we took our trip last year instead of having to cancel this year.
I have been so blessed by you all.

Hello fellow disers. This is my first attempt at a trip report so I will do what I know. Talk. Yes I'm a talker.
The reason for this fantastic trip was my DD1's (Sandi) 40th birthday and my DD2's (Sheri) DH (Mike) 60th birthday. Surprises to them. This started over the New Year holiday when we were all in Tennessee visiting Sandi and family. We sneaky ones decided since these were milestone birthdays we needed to make it special for everyone. Many places came to mind but nothing grabbed us. So when we came back to Missouri DD2 and I decided Disney was the place to go. Made us happy who cares about the others. We planned so they will join.
So when searching the Disney website and finding the great deal of buy 4 get 3 free it made our job much easier to plan.
We set the dates for May 23 through May 30, 2009. We booked at Port Orleans Riverside. Three rooms for nine people.
Here is when you get to meet this crazy family.
So bear with me and I will introduce this large cast of characters.
My name is Ginny. I love Disney and all things Disney. I have passed that to Sheri. I am known as the aaaateamsgrandma because my two girls never learned the alphabet past A. Easy enough. I love to travel when possible and love my family so a trip together makes a perfect match.
[/IMG]
Then my DH (Don) of 42 years. He is the one who puts up with all my whims. He likes Disney, but doesn't love it. Still working for that magic day of retirement.
[/IMG]
Next would be Sandi. Lives in Tennessee with Tim and son DGSA4(Alex). Her big birthday. Not a lover of Disney as little sis and mom but likes to go so we knew she would be in. She will now be know at BG for Birthday Girl or Sandi.
[/IMG]
Tim is a good guy and wanted to do something special for her so he was up for our plans. This was his first time visit to Disney. EVER! I don't know he has lived 40 years and not gone. He will be known now as FT (or Tim) for first timer.
[/IMG]
They have my last A grandson so he is known as DGSA4 (Alex). He too has never been to Disney but I don't blame him. He is just 10 so how would he know what he has missed.
[/IMG]
Then we start the family that lives near me (less than a mile). That would be Sheri. She is my baby and thrilled that her sis is 40 and she's not. Her turn will come for sure. The real Disney lover.
[/IMG]
Mike is the big 60. Yes older than me by six weeks. Don't think I don't love to rub that one in. My middle grandson used to say if his Dad were a year older than he and Grandpa could be twins. Nothing like little boys and their logic.
[/IMG]
They have oldest DGSA1 (Austin). He is 17 and will be a senior in high school. They sure grow up too fast. He is a good kid and is a big teaser. Normally very quiet but once he gets wound up a regular hoot.
[/IMG]
Then last is DGSA3 (Andrew). He just turned 15 and is driving for now. Lucky Mom and Dad. He is a total kook. He will be a sophomore in high school.
[/IMG]
The A that is missing is DGD A2 (Andrea). She is 17 also and will be a senior in high school. Sometimes she tags along with us and sometimes not.
Now that you have met us I think that is enough for a while. Absorb this then I will add more.
Hope I wasn't too wordy and someone will read and comment on my report.
Sorry, my pics are so huge. I will work on that and try to get it fixed before I post again.
