To all my fellow Disfriends I want you to know what has been going on in my life. It has not been good news but I am alive to tell the story. Most of you know I lost my dear father in law to cancer on Jan 9. Don and his family were at his side and HE allowed dad to be coherent to recognize the kids and mom.

On that Friday evening I went shopping after work with Sheri and started feeling crummy so I went home. Don got the call about his dad so he drove to his mom's and left me to my own devices. Saturday Sandi arrived to be there for the services that were to be visitation on Monday and Services Tuesday afternoon. Don stayed at his Mom's during this time. By Monday the 11th I was ill. Sheri came and took me to my pcp. He gave me a shot for the nausea and said to watch my blood sugar. If they went passed 400 to go straight to the hospital. It ended up that Sheri, Sandi and Austin went to the visitation that evening. Mike and Andrew stayed with me. As most of you know my dear friend is a nurse so they kept in tabs with her all day. About 5 that evening my blood sugar was 388. Cindy is on the way. After a quick ride to the hospital and sitting in the waiting room for about 2 hours the triage people get in charge. There had been a little boy ahead of me since 2 pm that still had not been seen. They called the little boy back then me. There were at least 9 people ahead of me. They immediately did a CBC which revealed my blood count being so abnormal. It was maybe 15 minutes after that they had put me in a room. By this time it is close to 8:30. My family is all with me, yes, even Don. Sandi voted to stay and take care of grandma so she wouldn't be alone.

By midnite they had all the docs on my case and I was admitted.

For those of you who don't know. I have AML type M1. It is luekemia the type M1 means I make baby white cells. You aren't supposed to. All of those baby cells need to grow up but they aren't. A normal blood count is: red blood-10-14, white cells 14,000 and platelets 10,000. My red blood was 7.2, white cells 209,000 and platelets 3. White blood cells is what fights infection.

On Tuesday they implanted a Groschon catheter in my chest so they can use it for all the drugs and blood drawing and don't have to use the veins. On Tuesday the 12th I started 7 days of chemo.

I had a bone marrow biopsy on Monday night and the results were not good as we wanted.

After 7 days of chemo (yes, most of what little hair I had is gone) the did a repeat bone marrow biopsy. Only to discover that the first chemo did nothing. The first is to have the 'blasts' go to like 30% of your cells. I still had 90% active. So we started the next go round of chemo and I finished it on Sunday. I will not get a biopsy for another several days to see if the 'super chemo' worked. I know I wll be here at least 3 more weeks at this time. If it did I will get to go home in 3 weeks for a bit before having to return for rounds 2 and 3. Main goal is to hit remission. The docs have been very upfront (which I like) and have informed me everytime I do chemo and it doesn't work my chances of recovery drop 30%. That is just what I will deal with at the end of this round.

I am going to ask the moderators to close my thread regarding my trip as my life has done such a turn around.

Doesn't mean I don't love Disney nor do I want to lose my dear friends I have discovered on this ridulous journey (Who would have ever thought this one up). But right now I'm just busy fighting for my life and I need the healing time.

I'm so very thankful we took our trip last year instead of having to cancel this year.

I have been so blessed by you all.

Hello fellow disers. This is my first attempt at a trip report so I will do what I know. Talk. Yes I'm a talker.

The reason for this fantastic trip was my DD1's (Sandi) 40th birthday and my DD2's (Sheri) DH (Mike) 60th birthday. Surprises to them. This started over the New Year holiday when we were all in Tennessee visiting Sandi and family. We sneaky ones decided since these were milestone birthdays we needed to make it special for everyone. Many places came to mind but nothing grabbed us. So when we came back to Missouri DD2 and I decided Disney was the place to go. Made us happy who cares about the others. We planned so they will join.

So when searching the Disney website and finding the great deal of buy 4 get 3 free it made our job much easier to plan.

We set the dates for May 23 through May 30, 2009. We booked at Port Orleans Riverside. Three rooms for nine people.

Here is when you get to meet this crazy family.

So bear with me and I will introduce this large cast of characters.

My name is Ginny. I love Disney and all things Disney. I have passed that to Sheri. I am known as the aaaateamsgrandma because my two girls never learned the alphabet past A. Easy enough. I love to travel when possible and love my family so a trip together makes a perfect match.

[/IMG]

Then my DH (Don) of 42 years. He is the one who puts up with all my whims. He likes Disney, but doesn't love it. Still working for that magic day of retirement.
108.jpg
[/IMG]

Next would be Sandi. Lives in Tennessee with Tim and son DGSA4(Alex). Her big birthday. Not a lover of Disney as little sis and mom but likes to go so we knew she would be in. She will now be know at BG for Birthday Girl or Sandi.
P5230014.jpg
[/IMG]

Tim is a good guy and wanted to do something special for her so he was up for our plans. This was his first time visit to Disney. EVER! I don't know he has lived 40 years and not gone. He will be known now as FT (or Tim) for first timer.
PB220008.jpg
[/IMG]

They have my last A grandson so he is known as DGSA4 (Alex). He too has never been to Disney but I don't blame him. He is just 10 so how would he know what he has missed.
P5240034.jpg
[/IMG]

Then we start the family that lives near me (less than a mile). That would be Sheri. She is my baby and thrilled that her sis is 40 and she's not. Her turn will come for sure. The real Disney lover.
P5230019.jpg
[/IMG]

Mike is the big 60. Yes older than me by six weeks. Don't think I don't love to rub that one in. My middle grandson used to say if his Dad were a year older than he and Grandpa could be twins. Nothing like little boys and their logic.

MIKE.jpg
[/IMG]
They have oldest DGSA1 (Austin). He is 17 and will be a senior in high school. They sure grow up too fast. He is a good kid and is a big teaser. Normally very quiet but once he gets wound up a regular hoot.
P5230022.jpg
[/IMG]

Then last is DGSA3 (Andrew). He just turned 15 and is driving for now. Lucky Mom and Dad. He is a total kook. He will be a sophomore in high school.

P5250129.jpg
[/IMG]

The A that is missing is DGD A2 (Andrea). She is 17 also and will be a senior in high school. Sometimes she tags along with us and sometimes not.

Now that you have met us I think that is enough for a while. Absorb this then I will add more.

Hope I wasn't too wordy and someone will read and comment on my report.

Sorry, my pics are so huge. I will work on that and try to get it fixed before I post again.

Signing on for more! Don't reduce the picture size. I like the big pictures better! Can't wait to read more.

Thanks for reading Lisa. It is appreciated. It is because of you and Jaycns that I finally got my nerve up to do a report. Took me forever and even longer to figure out the picture situation.

I probably won't get more done till at least Sunday as my family reunion starts tomorrow.
I am at work now and working hard I might add :rotfl2:

Ginny: Awww, I inspired you. Makes me feel special. I understand the picture posting problem. It took me a little while too. Right now, I am having a heckofa time getting photobucket to work. I want to update my trip report and can't find my Magic Kingdom pictures. Ugh!

I'll be here whenever you get a chance to post an update.

I'm working really really really hard right now too. Can't you tell.:rotfl:

Lisa

Hello Lisa, I have a break before getting ready for the lake and family reunion so I will get a short post done.

Oh My...sounds like you might have gotten a little rain on your trip? :confused3:lmao: (I really hope you didn't!!)

What a great family! :grouphug: I'm anxious to hear how the newbies liked WDW.

Thank you for reading my TR. I was beginning to think Lisa is the only one that likes me. :sad2:

You have made me feel much better.

I have a wonderful family and I'm very sappy about all of them. Would loved to have had more grands but those girls of mine never listened to me at all.

Sorry we had lots of rain. So much in fact when we didn't we kinda wondered what to do with ourselves. But you know, it never stopped us from having a great time. Disney was wonderful. DH and DD's and I had last been in 1983. Can you believe it was around back then? DD2 and her family were there five years ago. DD2 and I would go every year. I am actually working on a fall trip with Dining for just us girls. Am working on new post now.

ok Lisa tell me what stupid thing I have done cause I can't figure out how to add to my thread.
Please and thank you.

Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits and did I mention Rain? Part 2

So now wer are set. The resort ressies are made, Yay. We just need to plan our days and our meals. That is when I discovered the Dis. I love you. :lovestruc I checked the resort section and realized that 6 adults and 3 boys (two of which are over 6 foot and the other 5 feet) could not sleep in double beds and and trundle. (I'm the shortest and I would get the trundle. YCH. I found the resort of resorts. CSR. New rennovations, new queen sized beds. Who could ask for more. Ok, so now once again we are set. Kinda.

We knew we would arrive Saturday afternoon, get to the resort in time to turn around and go to MCO to pick up the Tennessee bunch. Remember it is a surprise for BG. She had no idea we were going to be there.

So we planned on MK Saturday night, MD Sunday, AK Monday, Epcot Tuesday, MGM (sorry) Wednesday, Epcot Thursday and Friday where anybody wanted to go.

Our meals chosen were Chef Mickey's Sunday evening, Ohana breakfast Tuesday (the BB's actual day), Planet Hollywood lunch on Wednesday and Hollywood and Vine with Fantasmic on Thursday.

So since I have already changed resorts would we be able to keep the rest of the plans made?

sounds like you got a nice family!!!

Thanks for that. I am a little partial but yes I do have a good family and I feel very blessed.

Thank you for reading. I'll be gone for a couple of days but will add more one Sunday evening for sure.

New update 6/29/09
So the resort was changed to CSR, food was planned. All tickets are purchased. We are ready now to wait for my 90 day window to book ADR's. It is January 22. We have a long wait to keep this surprise a secret. I already told you I like to talk.

So far I am doing a good job. We are headed to Tennessee to see Alex play basketball. It is Jan 30. Eight whole days. That is a record for me.

During these months my DD2 can't stand it anymore having no one to talk to so she up and tells oldest DGSA1. Now he does know how to keep a secret most times. Actually she had to tell because he overheard my big mouth talking to his mom. So it really was my fault. As usual.

I am attaching some random shots of my crazy family during the wait.

This was the silly Sheri catching her first fish. A little old to start isn't she? This was at my Dear Father in Law's 84th birthday party.

This pic is DD1 pretending to be Minnie Pearl at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

And last but not least Austin ready for prom.

Sorry it is blurry. Cell phone picture.

We are now to our 90 day window and ADR's need to be made. I call bright and early on Feb 22 (like 6am) and hold for 2 1/2 hours. Only to be disconnected. I hit redial and start again. This time a 3 hour hold. But lo and behold we got those ADR's we had asked for. :jumping1:

We are so hooked up. I can't believe this has been so easy. Like the fates are on our side? If one so believes in fate as I do. Well, someone is looking after me anyway. Thank you.

Will post the final days later tonight.

Great update Ginny! I see that your family likes to act crazy. There's nothing wrong with that.....we act like that all the time. Hardly ever a serious moment around our house. Well, except for when we are planning our WDW vacations.;)

Yes vacation is serious planning. Gotta get it all set and I had Comando DD2 to deal with. She had a schedule to keep.

I'm in looking forward to reading about your trip.

UPDATE PART 4

We are getting close to our deadline now and I don't know if any of you have ever flown Allegiant Air but they charge for checked bags. We thought the six of us could get by with 2 checked and 4 carryons. Well let me tell you. You can't. We have a brand new terminal in our fair city and it is like a stones throw from our house. So one morning DD2 was going to work and I didn't go in till 10 that morning so we decide we would take our carry-ons to the airport to be sure they fit in the basket provided. Not a one of them fit. So I get home call the airline and pay for 2 more bags. If you pay when at the airport is like double the fee. So now we have 4 checked and 4 smaller carry-ons.

Sheri has all of her laundry done and keeping things stashed so her family won't use it up again. Lucky me I keep throwing things on the spare bed.

We had received some dining coupons from the cruise line back in December at various restaraunts so I get the big idea to cash them in for a couple of places in Orlando. So I do one for Bahama Breeze. Spend $100 get $50 off. It is so easy to spend $100 for eight people.

All of our paperwork came to my house. So I overnight the package to the Tennessee group so Tim can surprise Sandi anyway he wants for her birthday. And I keep the other two packages.

Must work a bit. Will finish tonight with lots of pics.
Ginny

Thanks for the mini-update. You know how I post....mini-updates in between work. I figure it's better than nothin'.

UPDATE PART 4 CONTINUED

Sandi's birthday is on Thursday May 21 and her Tim chose to tell her on that day they were going to Disney on Saturday. She was totally surprised because I had been telling her she was going camping for the past 2 weeks. Her 10 yo son told her they were going to San Diego. Who knows where he came up with that because he didn't have a clue.

Sheri and her hubby were driving around one day and Sandi called her to talk. Mike knew he was going on vacation that week but thought we were all going to Tennessee for the weekend. He shouts out "I'm in vacation mode" and Sandi says what is he talking about. Sheri told him to shut up he was too loud and told Dear Sis he was having an out of body experience and ignore him. :rotfl:

Now I have informed you before how close I am to my daughters. The one that lives blocks from me and I are together at least 5 times a week. We text or call the daughter in Tennessee every day. Saturdays are girls day out for Sheri and my sis-in-law and a mutual friend we have. So our plane leaves at 10 Sat. morning and I have to give Sandi a reason we can't talk to her this morning.

On Thursday before we leave our dear Princess

102.jpg

comes up with some kind of bug and I have to cart her off to the vet. By Thursday afternoon and $165.00 we get the diagnosis and medicine. Our plan was to take her to DD2's house to stay with her two puppies. But the illness the Princess had was semi-contagious so she had to stay home alone. We have a friend that comes and takes care of them for us. Lucky us. We don't have to pay and the puppies get to stay home. This just meant she had to come to both houses 3 times a day.

Friday night before we leave I cook dinner for the six of us and we make plans to leave around 8 am for our long drive to Tennessee.

Don and get up around 6 and I finish packing. We need to be at the airport at 8:30. This is a 3 minute drive for us. If we would cut through the field we could walk it.

Sheri wakes up at 5:15 and stares at her Mike till 6:15 and can't stand it any longer. She wakes him up with those famous words. "Get up, we are going to Disney World." Oh happy day. They shower and get ready then get their boys up to get them ready. Andrew didn't believe them whatsoever. Of course Austin already knew.

We end up having to go to Sheri's house to help them pack luggage in our car as Austin has taken over their home car (they have 2 work cars) and he has a huge Boom Box in the trunk. This was the first that Mike knew we were going too.

We arrive at the airport on time and go to the counter. Guess who had 2 bags over 50 pounds. Yes, right there in the middle of everything we are unpacking and repacking luggage. Don't ya know everyone loved us. Andrew got picked for the full body search. Too funny. You have to be 15 and his birthday had just been 2 weeks before. He had to dig out his driver permit to prove his age.

We get all checked and now waiting for boarding. I send a text to Sandi to let her know that we were all going for massages and would be tied up for a couple of hours or so. I knew what time she was leaving on Saturday and of course where they were going. I was such a good actor and lier.

We have an uneventful trip to the Sanford airport and arrive around 1:15.

Aren't we lively on a plane?
We head out to find food and groceries. We are starving since our new terminal doesn't have much food so not a lot of breakfast.

We drove and finally found a Chili's. Not our favorite but there was a grocery store near by. Then lo and behold in the same parking lot was a Firehouse Sub. Now I don't know if any of you had had there food, but let me tell you DELISH!! We don't have one in our area but always looking for one.

So after a yummy meal (the two boys had 2 large sandwiches. Oink, Oink) we head off to the grocery store for snacks, beer and water. We do know priorities.

Finally we arrive at CSR. By now it is 4:00 and we have to be back to MCO by 7:30. So we get all checked in. Those wonderful CM's put us in Cabanas 8A. Three rooms in a row. Sheri, me and Sandi.
Lucky me, I get the corner room with two windows. The rooms are just great and not one picture do I have. My DH has it all on video. We were practically across from the Big Dig. The kids all love that.

Will leave for now and finish arrival tomorrow.
