Moms to Be Part 3

Status
Not open for further replies.
Can I join too? I just found out I am pregnant last week. Bit of a shocker for us, as my youngest is 10!! We also didn't think I was able to have kids since going through chemo and radiation for cancer 6 years ago. So, we weren't trying, but we weren't preventing either. Unfortunately for me, my DH will be leaving at the end of the month to head overseas for 6 months, but it will work out.

According to charts online, I am due January 30!

Hello all! I was in Moms to be part 2.... and now I will join this one! I think I am due in early February, but I have no idea since my cycle was never since after giving birth in December! I guess I will fin out when I go to the doctor. Can't believe I'm doing this again!! This is a complete shock since I was using birth control. :rotfl: Also- we already booked and paid for our December trip. We are taking my son for his first birthday December 5-11. Any ideas or do you think we need to cancel?

Welcome and congrats! I'm due about the same time as you, I guess, and we're going to WDW November 6-13. If our trip were in December, we'd still be going. And I say that given that my 2nd child was born at 36 weeks. You should be about 30 weeks or so then, assuming you are due in early February, and I think it would be fine. We usually go in early December and the crowds are pretty low and the weather is great so unless you have some complications it should be a good time to be in WDW.

It is nice to see a new upcoming crowd. This thread has been alot of fun for me during my pregnancy, and I hope you enjoy it too!!!!

Just popping on quick to see how Patsy and Valerie are doing?!??!!?!

Hi,
This morning I lost my stopper (lol) and have been contracting. Nothing too consistent but getting stronger. They want to see me tomorrow anyway so unless my water breaks or he stops moving we just get to hang out. DH keeps calling. He only works 15 min away so I think we'll be ok. He wasn't this nervous last time. The hospital is only 5 min away so that's also a plus. :thumbsup2 I'll check in later.

Good morning everyone. Looks like we had no babies born overnight. And LOTS of new Mom's joining. Welcome Everyone!!!!

I have my doctors app't today. We will see if I am getting ready to actually bring Natalie into this world. I really, really, can't believe she will be here in 26 days. I am so excited to meet her. I think this week I will start to wash her things and make her bed. It is getting close.

Good luck this week Patsy and Valerie:yay:

I'm still hanging in there. Still in the hospital at the moment. The MFM doc that was on over the weekend was talking about sending me home soon-ish. Which I have mixed feelings about.

I haven't yet seen any MFM docs this AM to discuss. It is a really weird dichotomy -- on the one hand they say "you are at about the highest risk there is for delivering early" and on the other "but we're not doing anything for you here that couldn't be done at home.... sooooo"

I could be ok with going home, but I need some clear & explicit direction. What to do if I run into trouble. My local hospital is clearly not equipped to take care of me before 32 weeks. I need to know who exactly is going to manage this pregnancy, at least for the next 6 weeks. What's the procedure for coming back? etc.

I also want a home contraction monitor if they send me home. The doctors like to poo-poo the idea -- say it doesn't improve outcome. Except that my contractions are not obvious. They have only ever been a painless tightening. While I am aware that I might be having contrax, I can't really tell if I may have a worrisome pattern building until they are coming on like a freight train, that's kind of late. It's so much easier too see if I'm having just irregular uncoordinated contractions or contrax that are building in frequency on a monitor.

What I don't want to have happen is what happened with my son 6 years ago. I don't want to give birth at a hospital that is not prepared to take care of my babies & they need to be transported here. So that's my reasoning for wanting the home monitor. I rather need it as a self-assessment tool, to tell me if I need to get my butt back here or if I need to lie down. Seems reasonable to me.

Alright everyone...working on the new list! It's on it's way...sort of fitting that it's page 100!

It's great to see so many new moms! I definitely think there is something in the water... :lmao:

I had contractions all stinking night last night. I could tell they weren't really doing anything (weren't painful enough) so I didn't bother going in... just sat around and drank a ton of water and they eventually stopped. :headache:

DH told the neighbors to watch me! I'm surprised he didn't take my car keys, I swear! :rotfl:

No Lucas yet... :guilty:
I'd definitely start washing. Once I got everything washed it took me forever to perfect exactly where I wanted it. The whole nursery got redone again yesterday in fact...

Thanks for the luck! I'm off to run errands (and get lunch, mmm, one more day to listen to my cravings!) and OB at 3:15... finding out whether or not I'm going in tomorrow night or Wed. morning!! :cool1:

Valerie-- oh my! Given your history with your son, I can't believe they aren't more receptive to doing everything to ease your mind as possible. Especially with twins- double the risk and all the more reason to keep them in there every day possible!
I hope things work out, keep us updated..

I'll post back when I find out stuff this afternoon!!

Oh, and december.. I still haven't finished packing my bag yet!
I made a list of what I've got and what I think I still need and was going to see if anyone on here can think of anything else later...

Patsy - I had contractions for two nights leading up to active labor. Just at night though ...

Piecey, get that bag packed now!!!!!!!!!!!!:lmao:

For my bag, I had my camera, battery charger, and extra batteries; 1 gown, 1 set of pjs, a robe, slippers, socks (never wore), undies (never wore-just wore the disposable ones the hospital gave me), 2 new nursing bras, and an outfit to wear home (elastic waist shorts and a maternity tank that didn't scream maternity); makeup, brush, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, sample size toiletries (the nurse told me they usually give a sample pack from Bath and Body Works, but they were out by the time I got to a room, so I was glad to have my own soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, etc.). I also packed some clothes for dh, since the hospital is an hour from home. He stayed with me the whole time, so he needed a couple sets of everything, too. I made sure that I had my ins card, and dh's card, since the baby was added to his policy, my debit card, and some crisp dollar bills for the vending machines for dh, and my cell phone, all in my purse. And in the baby's bag, I had the normal stuff packed, plus the outfit in my avatar for her to wear home.

Hope that helps!

Can you add me to the list.... due Jan. 17

I'm pregnant with #4. This was a COMPLETE surprise to us! :goodvibes I have 2 dd's... 14 and 10. And one ds who is 4.

I'm dealing with major morning/all day sickness right now. Feeling exactly like I did with #2. We leave for Disney in a little over 3 weeks and I'm really hoping Im feeling better by then. Being in that extreme heat and being sick does not seem like a great combo.

We have AP's and had a huge trip planned with several other friends at Christmas time... but will obviously be cancelling that. We're going to shoot for spring break instead. Never gone with an infant before. Baby will be approx. 10 weeks old.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you on here. :goodvibes

Welcome Jenny! I remember reading several of your posts as you were coming to terms with the surprise! I hope you feel better for your trip.

My almost 12 yr old son is rocking the baby right now so I can get some work done (of course I took a break to Dis). It has been nice having kids old enough to really help-although he is alot more willing than dd9!

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies. :goodvibes

After the initial shock of finding out.... we are starting to get really excited. It's ironic... my best friend had a baby the day that we found out. The entire time she was pregnant I kept saying how happy I was that it wasn't me... apparently the joke was on me. :rotfl:

My kids will actually be 15,11 and almost 5 when this little one is born. Never thought I would have one in college and one in preschool at the same time. ;) And it will be weird for me to be the older mom in the group. I was 19 when I had my 1st so I've always been the youngest mom. I'm 34 now.

I'm also a bit worried about how this is all going to work out schedule wise. My oldest is in a very prestigious marching band program. Practice 4 days per week, games Friday night, contest on Sat. So a 6 day per week comittment. She's also the freshman class president and had quite the social life. The good news ( if you really want to call it good :lmao:) is that she'll be able to drive within a year of the baby being born. We've already purchased a car for her... Pontiac is giving away their cars right now so we got an '09 G6 fully loaded for dirt cheap. My 2nd dd is in cheer and gymnastics... 4 days per week. And the baby ( okay I guess I need to stop referring to him as the baby :guilty:) is in soccer. I guess this is what happens when you have kids so far apart... the little one just gets hauled everywhere!!

Sorry for the long post...... I haven't been able to discuss anything pregnancy related since no one knows yet besides my dh.
