September '09 PTR ~ A trip full of WONDERful firsts! UPDATED 10/12 TR STARTED!

I've just finished reading your pre-trip. Great start. We have a group of 8 going in Sept., can't wait!!! We always go in December, so we're all looking forward to our 1st MNSSHP. I'm trying to come up with a group costume idea, that won't be hot, what a challenge. We've been on NCL 3 times, and are looking forward to trying another line, hopefully Disney.

Thanks! When are you going in Sept? Maybe you can all wear matching t-shirts with a Halloween theme and have them personalized. They have all sorts of things on the DISign boards that can be customized. I'll let you know all about DCL! I'm so, so excited about that!

we actually love Chefs and go there every trip. The food might sound funny...but when translated, it's definitely just normal every day food. I love the short ribs, flat breads, roasted chicken, etc. The onion soup is to die for! mmmmm! :)

Thanks for letting me know! I was a little nervous about trying it. Hopefully, Remy will still be there because that will be the deciding factor. As of right now he's only there til 9/5 but they may extend it.

We are going Sept. 10th to the 20th. I'm making shirts for everyone, but would really love to do a group costume. We ordered our MNSSHP tickets and they came Monday. Love mail from Disney.

I love anything from Disney! I did will call for mine. I tend to forget things so I didn't want to take any chances.

I just got our MNSSHP tickets for 9/22! :cheer2::banana::woohoo::yay: I'm so excited! I've heard this party is an awesome time! I was thinking about dressing up but I don't think I have the time or patience to make a costume. I definitely want some Halloween themed Mickey ears though!

On a completely different topic, has anyone ever eaten at Chefs de France? I'm not very big on French food (they eat snails for goodness sake!) but I'm a big fan of Ratatouille and really would like to see Remy. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: I just saw that Remy will only be there until September 5. I'm gonna just miss him! :(

I'm pretty sure it's a common theme. He was so proud of himself for buying new clothes. :rotfl2: And of course, since we were already at the stores, I just had to buy something!

Old Navy has so many cute flip flops! I tend to go a little nuts buying them over the summer. I can't help it, they're a good deal. :rolleyes1

Ok people, help me out with this! I've already changed from ASMo to WL and am thinking of going with AKL now. Any feedback would be great!

On the one hand, WL has the prime location. We always spend our last morning at MK, we're planning on going to Hoop Dee Doo (I'm not sure when yet), probably going to have breakfast our last day at WCC, and I like that they have a ferry. The hotel itself and the grounds are gorgeous but I'm not wild about the room decor. Seems a little rustic and dark. I think I read that the rooms are bigger than AKL though. Another positive is that Joe has never stayed here.

On the other hand, AKV is a little out of the way and has bussing to pretty much everything. No ferry. But it's a little less expensive and we love animals so it'd be really cool to be able to see the animals from our room. I keep thinking about having breakfast out on our balcony. :) And I love the way the rooms look. So bright and colorful! Joe has stayed here with his family before but I think it was only for one night because his dad wanted to check it out.

Opinions?

You had to pick two of my favorite resorts, didn't you? :rotfl:
Pros and cons for each:
WL - what is great is everything is self-contained, never have to go outside for anything. This works out especially well if weather is bad. The location is wonderful, but when it comes to the ferries, remember you have to share with FW, and it can take some time to get to MK because of this. We left WL one time for MVMCP and it took us about 35-45 minutes to get there! Also, you do share a bus with another resort, be it FW or GF. What is good about WL is if you are a runner or biker, there's a great path with rentals that runs between FW and WL.
AKL - yes, it is "out there," but here's something to think about ... one bus stop, no sharing with resorts. The time evens out in my opinion. I love the decor of the place too and when we stayed there in December, I found the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. The gift shop is great and you can't beat Boma. Only down side I see is the CS being outside, which stinks when it is cold out (rain not a problem since the walkway is covered). But the CS sells Zebra Domes and hummus from Boma. mmmm.
If given the choice, I go with AKL. I just love it!

WOW!! That's great! I'd certainly take my sister up on that offer!! :lmao:

Okay, if AKL is cheaper and you'd prefer a bigger, brighter room AND Joe's never been there, I think you should definitely do AKL. Yes, it's more out of the way but it's so much fun to try something new. Plus, the animals are great!

I vote AKL.

Thanks Angey! I appreciate the input, especially on the bussing/ferry times with WL. It will pretty much even out. Plus, if I do decide to make reservations for Hoop Dee Doo and WCC and we stay at AKL, I have my car so it'll get me there just as quick as transportation from WL. I'm really leaning toward AKL. As for the CS there, I doubt it will be cold out so no problem there. What is a zebra dome? :rotfl:

Joe's been to AKL before but only for a night. He barely remembers it because according to him he took a ferry from there to AK. :rotfl::confused3 I keep picturing myself out on the balcony in the morning, with breakfast, looking at the animals. :)

Boma's Zebra Dome- Amarula mousse dome glazed with a white and dark chocolate zebra pattern.

OMG, they are soooo good. Run a google image search on "Zebra Dome, Boma" and prepare to drool.

Stay at AKL because we'll be at AKL!!!!! :woohoo: It would be a blast!! I'm so, so, so excited to stay there. And I guess in my mind that should convince you too! :confused3 :rotfl:

Hey Jenny, if you stay AKL, will you bring me a giraffe? Thanks. :)
