The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Will do. I picked them up this morning and they are in the tupperware container ready to go. The type my princess prefers are not sold in the Orlando KK. She is much too high maintenance, but she likes the cinnamon bun flavor. Her daddy likes those too, so I had to make sure to get plenty or I'd be chasing Kenny away from her donuts all week.

:lmao:My kind of Girl! I don't have a trip planned so I am living through your right now. So much fun when your kids are so excited and looking forward to it!

Well we have major disappointment here....Hannah Montana is not playing tonight, last show was at 2 PM so we are going ot see Monsters vs Aliens. I think it is 3-D so that will be fun watching Buddy and the glasses fight all night long :lmao::lmao:

Kady's ckae:

1 Box dark chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
2 pkgs cook and serve chocolate pudding
4 cups milk
chocolate chips

cook pudding as directed adn let cool (we forgot to let it cool)
add cooled pudding to cake mix and eggs, combine
turn into 13x9 inch greased and floured pan
top with chocolate chips
bake 350 for 30 minutes

I'll let you know how it turns out

Count on it!:thumbsup2

:lmao:

Maybe we can all get a pedifours together & then go to Apricot for drinks! :rotfl2:

:cool1: After F&W events are out, we need to do some planning!

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I can't wait to see Kat again and meet you and Maria (and whoever else we can trick into coming). I should have some babysitting help so I ought to be able to spend some time with the girls. Besides, the week prior to our October trip will contain my birthday so I might be able to guilt Kenny into almost anything. :rotfl:

Ok, I've been chatty enough this afternoon. This is probably it until I get back. All of you take care and I'll check in when I get back. If something big happens, someone call me or send me a text. I won't have computer access while I'm gone.

When are you all going in October? Doug and I are toying with the idea of going October 21 - 26. Do any of those dates work? OMGosh it would be so much fun to meet.

I want Pedifours and drinks in Apricot also. I would be on :cloud9:

Ellen check out the first page of the thread, I posted all of our dates there. I leave on the 21st to head to US/IOA.

OK, I finally know what I'm making for dinner... Reuben sandwiches. Man, deli corned beef is expensive. I went in hoping to get the store brand, but they don't carry it and I had to get Boar's Head.

Another one not starting out very well.

I hate when days start like that!

Prayers for Debi

My prayers are with her

I need some help with this one. I am going to a cookout tomorrow night (in the rain) and I want to bring deviled eggs. I had some at a party and there was relish in it. Actually the woman who made them ran out of relish and just chopped up some pickle. They were AMAZING!! I was wondering if anyone has a real good deviled egg recipe that I could add some pickle to. Or maybe just use your deviled egg recipe..... THANKS!

We have always made ours with relish - I just mix yellow mustard, mayo, sweet relish, salt and pepper. Then top with paprika.

It's so hot today! 92 degrees and humid. I spent most of the day with granddaddy, getting him to the doctor, going to lunch, picking up eyeglasses, etc. Then I had some work to do.

DH is chaperoning an all night youth function so we'll get something to eat on the way to drop him off at the church and I'll stay and do some more work once there.

Can't wait for F&W!!!!!!!! I'm really excited!!!!:banana:Beach Club here I come!
Nan an infection would be much better if that is what it actually is....we just have to wait & see the next few weeks.

Sheryl, we have a butcher "down town". He is wonderful & has anything you want. Greg has ordered elk, bison, duck, ostrich....I just order the basics at holidays. He also makes his own hot dogs & smoked sausages which are delicious.

Hey Guys!

Sorry I didn't check back yesterday...I had a busy day then had a call from my sister Patty that my Mom called my Aunt at 11pm the night before looking for my Dad (has been dead 4 years), looking for her car (has not driven in about 3) and waiting for me to come home (I have been out of the house for about 14 years). Needless, to say, my Mom has gone to live with my sister. We will eventually sell the house. :sad1: Mom does not remember any of it but put up a fight to leave so please pray she settles in OK.

Thomas did great at the dr. He is 24 1/4 inches and 14.4 lbs...height is 90th percentile and weight is 75.

I enjoyed going to the butcher. I bought alot of stuff and had strip steaks las night. Like Kat, I too had Sandy's rub. It was great! I bought a boneless ham for brunch at my sisters tomorrow, keilbasa, italian sausage, hot dogs (I love butcher dogs), burgers, homemake ravioli and burgers. Everything looks great and the place gets rave reviews.

Sheryl, I called and placed my order ahead of time based on what they had on special. I did not look around alot for fear of buying more stuff!!! They were really nice in there and the steak was so good last night. I cannot wait to try the other stuff.

My prayers go out to Debi. Please keep us posted.

Kathy, Thank you for posting the card...it was cute! How are you today my friend?

Maria, glad hubby is back! Prayers continue for all of you.

Gretchen, have a great trip!

Happy Birthday Jay!!!

Not sure WFD but I have to cook up this chicken...I may do parmesan since it is thin cut chicken and freeze some.

Andrew has a game and then I need to do a few things for tomorrow. My sister is having brunch. I am bringing ham and corn casserole.

If I do not have time, I wish all of you a Happy Mother's Day!

I had an early start to my Saturday; have a meeting all day... tonight will be gnocchi with mushroom alfredo sauce and garlic bread.

You know your Mom is in my prayers. So happy to hear how well Thomas is doing! I'm OK, thanks for asking, it's going to be a rough few days, but I'll be OK.:)

Glad you liked the card I posted.

We enjoyed Sandy's rub on the steaks as well, even without the nutmeg. Can't wait to try it with it!

WFD - Grilled tuna over arugula salad. YUMMO!

Lauren Sorry your mom is having a hard time.

Kathy I'm home today if you want to talk. I'm only cleaning this wreck I call home.

Sandy I looked at that thread  that looks too scarey to even try. But my little neighbors would think I was magic hummm

:hug: to all who need them and even if you don't

Not sure WFD yet it depends if this wind dies down. I want to grill

Kat- I loved the card! I am thinking about you this weekend, call if you need me! :grouphug::grouphug:

Lauren- big boy you have there! I love these healthy babies!

I am praying for your Mom , it is so hard to watch the woman who was so strong for you need your strength but you and your sister are up to this, after all....you are your Mother's daughters.

Dinner is going to be out of the fridge. We had planned on going to dinner before the show but my sister needs to go let Debbie's dogs out, she has a game in Boston and will not be home until late. And we also have my nephew's first birthday party...well we are going for cake. can I vent???? My nephew married on of those women, you know the kind, there is only one family....hers. There was a big party in New York for the baby's birthday but nothing even spoken about here. So Gail and I took turns asking her on FB when the party is and what should we bring. My poor brother and sis IL are so hurt, Sue had to tell all of us that there would be cake "if anyone wanted to drop by". How would we even know to stop by if we were not invited :confused3 I am really disappointed with my nephew, he was never raised with only one side of the family...everyone was always included and we all used to get together, this is not right.

Now what is really agravating is that Sarah is jealous of Amy, kind of like the Brady Bunch "Marsh Marsha Marsha" whine, but Amy is so receptive of everyone, has always had an open home adn would never leave anyone one out. How could you not gravitate to her. Sarah never has anyone to her home, they seldom go to family events (not even my Mom's 85th birthday brunch) and pretty much ignore us.

So we are all going to "stop by" today except Buddy, who cannot be trusted not to scowl and make a snide remark to Brian about family. He still refers to Sarah as "Manhatten" and not in a good way.

Boy, am I behind on here...

Sheryl, prayers for Debi.:grouphug:

Maria, so glad Greg is home and his DM got some good news. I will keep her in my prayers that it is an infection and it clears up.:grouphug:

Ellen, Happy Birthday to Jay.:flower3:

Lauren, glad your big boy made out well at the Dr. Prayers for your DM.

Sandy, I hate hot dogs but that pasta was really to weird!:lmao:

Aimee, glad the hives cleared (I think it was you, if not oops!).

Gretchen, have a wonderful time.

Sending hugs to everyone else and well wishes for all your loved ones.

Yesterday started out well, I went shopping with my DM. After shopping we went back to my parents to relax before dinner. My DM sprayed some ant spray in the front hall on the tile floor, after seeing DS slip on it she decided to go out there herself....needless to say DM slipped and fell very hard on the tile floor. She thinks she just wrenched her back :scared1:! Hoping that is all and she feels better today. She was lucky that she did not break anything or injure one of her two replaced hips. Dad and I were a nervous wreck...my parents are both so darn stubborn I could scream (well I kinda did yesterday!)

Not sure what is for dinner. I need to go to the store, and it looks like grilling is out because of rain here.

Ann

Morning everyone, another rainy day here.

Lauren- I'm sorry about your mom, but I'm glad she has a safe place to go. I'm sure once she's settled in she'll enjoy the company.

Ann- I hope your mom's feeling better soon. When I was little one of my jobs was to clean the oak stairs, with pledge. It wasn't until the dog got old and kept falling that my mom realized it wasn't the best idea.

Nancy- Maybe you should bring Buddy then, it would make it more fun.

Not to much going on, I think we are going to head out to the library soon and pick out a movie for tonight. Since the library is all of 5 minutes away, that should kill about 15 minutes. I guess at some point I need to figure out dinner. See you all later.

Jeff is taking my computer and moving things over to another before this one blows up so I want to stop in quick!

Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends here on the WFD! Your friendship has made such a difference in my life and I appreciate all of you more than words can ever express. Cyber friends? you say. Not for me, you all are the ladies I turn to when I want to laugh or cry, when I need to whine or when I want to crow and you are always there to celebrate or to cry with me.

So tomorrow when I go to Mass and we celebrate Mother's Day I will be sure to remember all of you and your Mothers who brought you into my life.
