What's the Big Deal With Staying On Property Anyway? *Goodbyes* 12/17 p.114

I love your "pretty boxes"! One of these days I'll have to figure out how that works...

Love the picture of the boys sleeping sideways in the car! Kids crack me up!

I remember South of the Border from when I was a kid - that place is so over the top!

The boxes work the same as the written links - you just highlight the img code and click the link button and paste the code. I love how neat it all looks now. :goodvibes

Over the top for sure! :rotfl:

I'm here. Hopefully I will be able to keep up since I'll be at home for a while.

Jill!! :welcome: Wow! I'm so happy to see you here - and with a new baby and all (who is just absolutely beautiful :lovestruc ). :goodvibes

Hey! You got your siggy pics before me

They look great!

Guess I better find the ones I like and send them off :woohoo:

Holy Cow! I cannot get over the trees down and that tractor trailor:scared1: Glad you made it to SC safe and sound!!:goodvibes

:wave2: I followed you over from another report. Glad I got in on the first part of your vacation!:thumbsup2

Oh my heck, I can't believe the weather you drove through! Glad you made it through alright and didn't have to vacation in Oz.

Congratulations and good luck with your move. A good friend of my husband's was recently accepted into the Navy chaplaincy and will be stationed at Norfolk.

How fun that your husband is along for this ride.

I'm a little older than 35, but can I join the club?:flower3:

:welcome: Thanks! Not sure having my husband along was such a good idea - he seems to be causing trouble all ready! :rolleyes1 ;)

Every age can join this club. :thumbsup2

I have relatives in Michigan. They live in Portage - near Kalamazoo. I've gone to visit them twice, but not for many, many years.

Thanks Diane! :goodvibes

We'll be in Portage today! That's the closest location to us with a mall.:sad2:My husband and I both went to college in K-zoo.

We were in South Carolina on our way to Disney World! :cool1:

We had an uneventful drive to Florida - thank goodness. I think we'd reached our excitement quota the day before.

We had lunch at Denny's - somewhere near Jacksonville. We tend to have bad luck with slow service whenever we go (which isn't often), but we were in and out pretty quickly this time.

We exited onto I4 and I had to check the temperature!

It actually read 91 at one point. It really didn't feel that hot. Maybe because there was low humidity that day and a nice breeze.

Shortly after getting onto I4, we passed by an accident (on the other side). There was a police car and a passenger car spun around. We thought it was probably a high speed chase gone bad. The traffic was backed up for miles while they were investigating the scene. I was so glad we weren't over there!

Shortly before getting to Orlando, Owen announced that he had to pee. He tends to wait until the last minute to tell us making it an emergency situation. I tried to get him to pee in a bottle :rolleyes1 but no can do. I had Chuck take the first exit. Then Chuck and I began to fight about where to go to find a bathroom and before we knew what was happening, we had to get on the turnpike - which cost us 50 cents. :sad2: The worst part is that it had us heading AWAY from Disney World! :headache:

After a couple of miles we came to a rest area and were able to take care of Owen's problem. And thankfully - this exit allowed us to go in either direction on the turnpike so we simply turned around. It cost us another 50 cents to get off and back onto I4. Can you believe it cost us $1.00 to pee???

With our bathroom needs cared for - we continued on our way. Before we knew it - we were seeing this happy sight!

We followed the signs to Port Orleans Riverside.

When we got to the gate, Chuck showed his i.d. and said we were checking in. The CM said thank you and then he spoke those words I wasn't expecting to hear, "Welcome home!"

I guess I thought it was only at DVC resorts that they told you that. What a surprise! I was so surprised that I got a bit choked up. As we drove away I said to Chuck, "Did you hear what he said to us?" I don't think Chuck was quite as affected by those two words as I was. :rolleyes1

Chuck found a place to park and I decided to go check in by myself. I couldn't help smiling as I was immediately immersed in the Disney Magic.

And then all of those happy feelings came to a screeching hault as I walked in the doors and saw the long line that awaited me.

IMG_2895.jpg

The woman behind me said she'd stayed there many times and had never seen the check in line that long. :scared1: It was 3:30 so prime check in time and on a Saturday to boot. Oh well. I was at Disney World - I could handle it. :thumbsup2

I kept wondering if there was a separate line for people who had done online check in. But, all I saw ahead was a sign that said Online Check In with an arrow pointing the same place as regular check in. The woman in front of me was wondering the same thing, but we figured we might as well stay in line and see what happened as we got closer. I called Chuck and told him it was going to be a while so he might as well get the boys out and walk around.

Well, her husband eventually found out for us that there was indeed a separate line for online check in and it was very short (probably because most people didn't know it existed!). I recommend making sure to ask or look for those signs up near the desks.

I had to take this one while standing in line:

I finally made it to the desk and had a very quick and easy check in process. I had requested building 16 or 18 and second floor. They gave us building 14 and second floor. I didn't bother asking to change it as I knew 14 was close to everything. It ended up being perfect for us.

The CM also gave me my birthday pin (the first of 3 I would receive):

I rounded up the rest of my gang and we made our way over to the parking lot for building 14. Took us a while to find our room - 1463. Want to see inside???

I love the look of these rooms!

We quickly unloaded the van and got ready to head to Downtown Disney. We had a reservation at Raglan Road for dinner. :woohoo:

Yay!! You made it! "Welcome Home" - I love it!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait!! Your pictures of the room are getting me very excited!! :hyper:
