Chapter 14: The...okay it took forever...here you go Chapter LOL!!!!

I’m pitiful….I’m terrible…I really should be put out of my misery…however I hope that if I beg enough you will all forgive me for my tremendous delay in getting back to my trip report. Life handed me a bunch of lemons and I have been very busy making a lot of lemonade however that meant that something had to go and well DIS was that thing. I had a lot of personal issues to take care of along with some things at work, however it seems that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (and no it’s not a train LOL). So I’m back, if you will have me???

Okay first of all I am sorry for the lack of pictures in this update I wanted to get this up at school while I had the time and it was on my mind so pictures are at home and I will update them later in their own separate post…I promise LOL! I can tell your right now that my life is full of countdowns, I’m counting down the days till I’m in Orlando, I’m counting down the days until the students are gone, I’m counting down the days until our faculty in-service days are gone and I’m most certainly not counting how many days until school starts again. This girl is ready to be a free bird my friends.

Nobby and I last left you as we were exiting the most wonderful ride in the whole wide world, and you know what guys in less than 4 days I will be riding that ride again with the lovely LL and let me tell you sometimes the idea of making LL raise her hand with me as we both agree to be volunteers at the Haunted Mansion has been what helped me get through the day. So, as Nobby and I exited the ride and I walked right pass the pet cemetery and no pictures (what was I thinking, one of my to-dos was to get Mr. Toad’s gravestone pic LOL). I started to notice that things were getting very crowed in Fantasyland and Liberty Square. Well the one thing I had decided on this trip was that if I got uncomfortable that I had the freedom to pick up and leave. Well it was a couple of hours before my late lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to head over to DHS and do some sightseeing and take more of those photo pass pictures I was starting to love. So I placed Nobby back into his special carrying vehicle and worked my way through Adventureland and back on to Main Street. I just took my time enjoying the windows and the sights and sounds of Main Street. One of things I am looking forward to my next trip is being able to really explore and see all the little details of Main Street; it is just a fascinating place to me. I also really enjoyed the fact that I could stop and look at things and not worry about annoying anyone else with a delay. Well this was the one day I didn’t drive around Disney (don’t worry I’m going to post a whole post on the wonders that is driving around Disney with Stanley, my GPS LOL). So no car today, so I headed to TTC to get on a bus. Now I must confess I was very wary of the bus system this trip because of all the talk of the norovirus and while I’m not a germaphobe per say I was not all about getting sick on my trip. However, I was proven wrong and the ride to DHS was uneventful and soon I was making the trek to enter DHS.

I have to say that I just adore the people who welcome you into the Disney. The security guards had the best time with Nobby and I. The look on their faces was priceless when they realized I had a gnome with me, although I’m pretty sure Nobby was not impressed with being man-handled often LOL. The security guard this time had a whole conversation with me about Nobby and wished me a great trip. Then I was walking into DHS. Can I just tell you how much I love walking into a park? Nothing beats that feeling of first stepping into a whole new world and really experiencing the park. So as I was standing in awe of DHS a very crazy thought entered into my mind, why not go see if there were any TSM fast passes left…hahahahahahahahahha, well I enjoyed the walk over there, but no such luck would find me today, all the fastpasses were gone. Oh well I was there for a great lunch and to just really enjoy what the park has to offer, so Nobby and I headed to Sunset Blvd and then spent the whole way convincing Nobby that Tower of Terror was not going to kill us and that there were worse ways to die than on a roller coaster, although I’m not sure Nobby liked any of the other ways I suggested. However, by the time we got there I had convinced Nobby that we would say a really long prayer before and “hopefully” after the ride and we got our Fastpasses for after lunch. Then it was time to head to check in for lunch. On our way back up Sunset Blvd, we stopped and posed for some pretty cool photopass pictures and I made sure to find the Villain shop because me and that place had a date for later, I love me some villains.

As far as meals go this was one of the ones I was really looking forward to, being on the Deluxe dining plan meant I got to splurge a bit and try some signature restaurants and I really wanted to go to the Hollywood Brown Derby. So why all the Brown Derby love?? Well for one really really big reason, I Love Lucy. Ever since the first time I watched her enter the Brown Derby in Hollywood and gush over the stars I have wished I could eat there. I’m a huge I Love Lucy fan so to have a seat next to the caricatures and the light fixtures that look like derby hats was amazing to me. I really enjoyed just being in the atmosphere and imagining having dinner with Lucy herself.

My wonderful server for this lunch was Geoffrey and he was superb he made nice conversation and introduced himself to Nobby and brought out some very nice warm bread rolls and butter for Nobby and I to share as we argued over what appetizer we would like to try. After careful deliberation it was decided that we would split the coconut shrimp. Geoffrey highly recommended it and said it was a great way to start off any meal, so shrimp it was. I really wish I had the ability to show you how wonderful these shrimp looked, but you will have to wait until I get home and can access photobucket, but they were seriously yummy. Nobby and I really enjoyed the shrimp and after that yummy goodness Nobby said he was stuffed and wanted to take a nap until dessert so away he went. After months and months of contemplation over the menu at Brown Derby I had come prepared with what I wanted to eat for the main meal. I ordered the Grilled Ribeye, medium well (I don’t want much pink at all in my steak). The steak arrived and it was also simply amazing. Then I had to decide on dessert, well this was not an easy decision. Nobby who was revived and less cranky from his power nap (shhh don’t tell him I told you he was cranky, he go all gnomish on me and that is a scary thought) wanted to make his input known. Well after a very intense best of 3 versions of rock, paper, scissors which Nobby won…stupid gnome and his rock all the time, decided we should split the White chocolate toffee tower. Well if this is the decadence one receives when letting a gnome cream them in Rock, Paper, Scissors, sign me up, because this was to die for. This dessert melted in my mouth and both Nobby and I couldn’t finish it all off. Well after saying our goodbyes and leaving a nice tip for Geoffrey it was time to make the dreaded, I mean way anticipated walk down Sunset Blvd and our date with destiny. Once again I had to convince Nobby that no he wasn’t going to fly out of his seat, yes I planned on taking my glasses off, and yes I would make sure to say at least 2 more prayers that this would not be the way the Lord chose to take us out of this world, but he finally gave in (after a few promises of more rides on IASW, dang that gnome and his obsession with that ride). I have to say that the queue for TOT is amazing and you really feel as if you have been transported to a whole new dimension which did nothing to alleviate Nobby’s fears. After taking many light fixture shots and enjoying the spooky hotel it was time to enter the library. I’m a big fan of the way Disney incorporates history into its rides, so I made sure to find the phone and the glasses that are hidden in the room which give honor to previous episodes of the Twilight Zone which I have not watched because the music alone freaks me out, I mean freaks Nobby out, when he stays at my house we pretty much watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarves or the Tinkerbelle movie, after awhile I about go insane so he lets me put on Sleeping Beauty, he likes those fairies too apparently LOL.

So after the very scary movie it was time to enter the boiler room and I was doing everything in my power not to let Nobby know that he could still take the chicken exit, although I could tell he was really thinking about it and that he and I were going to do this together. So without further ado we got on, and if you remember from my PTR…ahahah I don’t even remember much from my PTR LOL, one of my goals was that I was going to keep my eyes open the entire time on TOT this time. Well, did I do….you’d better believe it people!! I screamed like I was going to die and Nobby screamed like he was going to die, but our eyes were open. We both may have kissed the ground when we got off, not that I would ever show you the pictures of that, but we did. We conquered our, ummm, I mean Nobby’s fear and we did TOT together with our eyes open. YAY for us!!!!!

So after the joy that was riding TOT, Nobby and I were pretty much done with scary rides for the day so no RnR roller coaster for us. We decided to go ride one of our most favoritest rides at DHS, The Great Movie Ride, we LOVE this ride!!!! It is because of this ride that I finally caved and watched Casablanca; I will never look at that scene with dry eyes again. Also growing up in Kansas, you may be able to guess another one of my favorite scenes, LOL We’re off to see the Wizard the wonderful wizard, I really enjoy those scenes. Nobby and I like to make a game out of riding this ride; we see who can name the most movies during the montage at the end. Well he might be wicked good at Rock, Paper, Scissors, but I own the gnome in Movie trivia, it was great fun had by all. Nobby and I then headed over and rode Star Tours, that novice robot driver cracks me up each time. The night was starting to come to a close and I made myself a promise of an early night so Nobby and I decided to go over to the Animation Studios and see Sorcerer Mickey and call it a night. Well for some reason it never fails but I get lost in that shop, not like lost in all the great merchandise literally like I don’t know which way to go lost, so finally I found my way to back and my jaw dropped. Everywhere you looked there were characters. Frozone from the Incredibles, the characters from Bolt, Sorcerer Mickey, Pluto and Donald, and even better the Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John. Well I’m no dummy and I know rare characters when I see them so I beelined it over to Prince John. Well knowing I should keep on the good side of Prince John, I addressed him as King John which he found to be quite amusing and warmed up to me quite quickly. (Once again I promise pictures soon LOL) Well we had some good fun and I even got the shot of him sucking his thumb and holding his ear…it was great. Then I got shots of the Sheriff of Nottingham interacting with others at the different stations. Finally I got into the line with the greatest Mickey ever…the Sorcerer apprentice himself. Well I got my photo with Mickey and then decided it was time to head back to Pop Century when magical character moment #2 walked in, whoever could that be…well it was Minnie Mouse herself. I waited until some of the small children were done with Minnie and I walked over to introduce myself to her. Well I had been prepared for this, before leaving for Disney on the DIS board there was this great thread that talked about things to say to characters, well I had the perfect thing to ask Minnie. After our how do you do’s, I turned to Minnie and asked her when was Mickey going to ask her to marry him. Well this got quite the blush out of Minnie, she then shrugged her shoulders and then grabbed my hand and took me over to Sorcerer Mickey. Okay I had been prepared for Minnie to shrug and maybe cry on my shoulder, I had not been prepared for Minnie to make me ask Mickey for her why he had not asked her to marry him yet. Well after my moment of petrified fear and the look on an impatient Minnie’s face I turned to Mickey and asked him. After what I assumed was a moment for his life to flash before him, Mickey then very calmly pointed to his ring finger and shook his head. “Oh you don’t have a ring for her yet?” I asked. He nodded his head, being the quick thinker I am, I proceeded to take off my anniversary ring, not my wedding ring I didn’t think Prince Phillip would like that too much, and offered it to Mickey. He very excitedly took the ring and got down on one knee and proposed to Minnie who gladly accepted, however there was one problem. The ring didn’t fit, so Mickey very sadly gave me my ring back and blew Minnie and a kiss and then he had to leave. Oh I had been so close to witnessing what would have been one of the greatest moments in Disney history, but at last it was not meant to be, next time I vow to bring a bigger ring. Either way it was a great moment with great laughs.

Now it was really time for us to head back to the hotel. I had a cranky gnome and I was a bit tired myself. Thankfully the walk to the bus stop wasn’t that long and the wait was even shorter and soon I was back home getting ready for bed.

And this is where I should leave you…I really hope now that the end of the year is here and that I will be at Disney again will motivate me to continue. I know many of you have been more than patient and I thank you for that!!! I will proceed to write more in the next couple of days!! Thank you to those who are sticking with me!!

I will do my best to include pictures in the morning so you can actually see many of these moments through my and Nobby’s eyes!!!

Have a great day!!

Yay! An update! You're one of those writers who doesn't even need the pictures - your storytelling is that good! (However, bring on the pictures, woman! :P)

Excellent update, sounds like a great rest of your day. i really had fun talking to the characters, too, but i certainly didn't have any moments quite as memorable as yours!!

Whoa! I totally had that same conversation with Logan before braving the Tower of Terror. He did not take it as well as Nobby, and almost refused to ride the Rockin' Rollercoaster after wards.

The verdict is
