I have heard all my life; "Live your Dreams!"

Live my dreams?

Yeah, right. Like I want to go through life, standing in a busy hallway, two hours late for class on finals day, and not remembering what room number to go to.

While wearing nothing but my boxer briefs!

Or then there's the one with Glinda, the good witch and the flying monkees, where they, oh,,, um, never mind. But I think you get the picture.

But there are a couple dreams I WOULD like to live.
One of them is to live near Disney World.
The other one would be to work for Disney World.

Thankfully, I'm not alone with my dreams, they also happen to be my wife's dreams as well. Meet Diane, also known as Smidgy.
By the way, I'm Nebo, aka Steve.

With that information in mind, you now have the basis for this trip. While it isn't possible to move down there just yet, with the housing market the way it is, we at least would like a clearer idea of where we'd like to live. So I have had this trip in mind for a while now, we just weren't sure if we should go in today's economic crisis.

But I underestimated Disney.

It happened like this:
I had booked a AAA room only, you know, just for the heck of it, for five nights, and it sat there for a month. Then Disney hit below the belt.
Buy 4 get 3 free, PLUS, get a 200 dollar Disney gift card. Within ten minutes I was on the phone, reseving the new room and cancelling the other.

We now have a 7 night stay set for Pop. But wait, there's more! At work where she waitresses, one night Smidgy ran into a couple of acquaintences that we run into every now and then. And it turns out they just happen to be big DVC owners, with oodles of points.

And would you like to rent some? We can't use them all.
She told me this the next day, and I was,,,,yeah, so, how much a point, dear, it's probably pointless, get the point?

The friend is a lawyer, I gave him a call and it took a week to get back to me. Funny thing was, we had recently gone to Woodfield Mall where they have a DVC store there and a mock up of the new Animal Kingdom Villas rooms. We also were given the big, fancy hardcover DVC book with all kinds of pretty pictures,,,,, and the season dates and points requirements.

To shorten up this part, we ended up with a Boardwalk studio, Sunday through Thursday which was 11 points a night.

So, Sunday to Sunday at Pop, then Sunday to Friday with a standard view at the BWV.

Oh, how much a point you ask?

8 bucks!
To get the Pop freebie rate, you had to pay rack rates, so, with tax, came to 92 a night.
The BW room cost a total of 88 a night.

Guess who's coming to Disney?

Here's the plan:
We drive down there, I also have a job inteview set up in Lakeland, and also have appointments set to visit a couple of manufactured home communities.

"Honey, I've been thinking"
"AIIIEEEEE!!!"
She hates it when I think.
I found a really cheap Days Inn on 192 in Kissimmee, for 29 bucks a night, if we leave a few days early, we can take care of most of our business while we're there, thus freeing up our, ahem, other time.

Kissimmee it is, she's no match or me.
There, you now have the outline for our trip. Will it work out? We'll see.

I know one thing, this winter up here in Chicago has been brutal, I despise the winter as much as I loathe the politicians from Illinois, and I can't wait to feel the warm, Florida sunshine on my back.

Your hosts on this trip will be just the two of us, so if you've wondered what it might be like to visit the Mouse after your kids are gone, this very well could be you in the years to come. We have dining ressies set up for Cape May, Biergarten, and Nine Dragons, Cape May and Nine Dragons are firsties for us, so we get to cross them off our list. This means we will have eaten at 29 different table service restaurats on Disney property.

Yep, I can feel that sun on my face already.

sidenote: something I suppose I should mention: You have no idea how strange it was for us to rent these DVC points from these people.
You see, Diane and I are on our second marriages, both of us.

To each other.

And we met this lawyer ten years ago. I found him in the yellow pages.
He was the lawyer that divorced us!

No, don''t worry, we're legal again, not living in sin, we re-married back in '03. The first time we ran into him again, his eyes popped out of his head when he saw us together.
Diane likes to say the divorce just didn't work out.
I say she's much nicer then my first wife.

For the record, we are married a combined total of somewhere around 26 years now, I don't know for sure, it's hard to figure out.

With the intros completed, this truly was a trip from a fairy tale.

GRIMM!

Sometimes things just don't turn out the way you expect them
Normally, when I've done the tr's in the past, I like to designate myself as the 'protagonist'. Not this time, she would get the title, with me more of an 'antagonist'. I had a brutal summer, had a truck fall off a jack and land on the same foot I had five surgeries already on, and felt like life really owed me this "sojourn".
And with that, hence the title.

A couple last things before the Santa Fe pulls out of the driveway; this is now the fifth trippy I'm doing, and I really don't want to rehash all the same rides and pictures again, so it might be a bit more of a "Reader's Digest" trippy. No, I didn't take pictures this time of Mickey hugging some little kids, mostly the photos are scenic shots or unfortunately pics of myself and Diane.
(no honey, I meant unfortunately about me, not you too. really. honest.)

I'm also not going to go into the business end much, just to say that the Lakeland job is still a possibility, but we did find EXACTLY where we want to live, no doubt about it. All we need now is for the home market to turn around so we don't take too much of a beating selling our house, we need the equity if we're to buy down there.

So, hopefully, with your help, we can find some laughs together, have a couple of cold ones, and maybe try to figure out why I'm so anal about my Disney trips. nebo:banana:

Someday, soon, I hope I will be having another dream:
I can see a nice sunny day, nice and hot, and a man standing behind an Icecream cart in Epcot.
That man is me, selling dripping, premelted Itsakadoozies.
Why am I standing behind the cart?

Simple.
I look down and see I'm not wearing anything this time!

What a way to brighten a girls evening, I get to read about my dear internet friends... I just luv em!!!!

Cant wait to read more!!

Write on my friend, write on!!!

Hey,
Hope to be around more for this one.
We stayed at the Boardwalk Studio, standard room.
You can sit outside on your balcony at nite and listen
to Fantismic and see some Fireworks during Illuminations.
One nite, my dh wasn't feeling good, it was during Easter week.
Fantismic started at 7:00 p.m.
Illuminations was at 9:00
Another Fantismic at 10:00
Another Illuminations at 11:00
The next morning my dh woke up and told me,
"wow, there sure were some loud thunderstorms last nite"

Another comment about Cape May,
ya eat at one Buffet at WDW
and they tend to all be the same.
Except Cape May has 3 different flavor's of "mussles".
When I was growing up, we called them clams. We would find them in the rivers and marshes in Wisconsin.

You should eat at Beaches and Cream and order the Kitchen Sink.

Yay!!! You started!
I must admit that I feel like I have a personal interest in this here trip report.;)
