Due to an unexpected situation with DH's job, we are unable to travel on our original dates Feb. 28-March 1. The only dates available for us at CSR are Jan 24-Feb.1. I took a leap of faith and changed. I'm nervous that I only have a week to plan! I was able to switch our dining reservations. Anyone else ever plan a trip on short notice?

Take a deep breath, and all will be fine. You managed the first hurdle...you were able to switch your dates at the resort and second you were able to switch your dining ADR's. It will be fine. Just thing...you are going sooner than you thought and you'll have a blast!

Definately do not freak out about the bus service at CSR. Its the best I've experienced. I am totally loyal to CSR based on bus service alone. The great pool and food at the Pepper Market make it that much better!

We just got back from our first trip staying at CSR, and I have to say I loved it! Don't freak out about the busses - for the first time, we used the busses and never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one! We were in Casitas 4, near Bus Stop #2, which was great for drop-off. Going to the parks, we were often at Bus Stop #1 after getting coffee & pastries at Pepper Market.

I faxed the request for a renovated room, but didn't get one. But we did get queen beds. Our waterview was of the lake; unfortunately, there was a large tree in front of the window. But walking out of the room was a beautiful view.

We spent some time at both the quiet pools and the Dig Site. The slide was fun and the pool is, too. It was a great place to relax.

Mousekeeping was fine, room always straightened, beds made, sufficient supplies/towels. No complaints.

All the cast members we met were friendly and helpful.

We only had two issues: 1) since we weren't on the meal plan, we found Pepper Market a bit expensive. Pastries sold at the parks for $2.75 were $4.15 at PM. We shared a 1/2 chicken for $15 - it was good, but too expensive. So we didn't eat there too often.
2) We switched from POP to CSR after a one-night stay. When we got back to the room around 11, our bags had not yet been delivered. We had to wait until about 11:30, and we were tired.

Other than that, it was a great stay. And I booked a bounceback in September, back to CSR!

Thanks, Buzz & everyone else.

Thanks for the report and glad you enjoyed CSR and are going back! Hopefully, when you go back in September you will have a new room since they should all be done by October 2009.

Just back from a week at CSR - no pictures since I couldn't possibly beat the ones up already! We really enjoyed CSR. Didn't get a single grumpy cast member, and many were very helpful. (On checkout, for example, we were struggling with our luggage, and a CM working at the spa saw us, called bell services for us, and bell services was there in about 5 minutes! A couple of people wanted to hop on the cart with us, the driver said no, but immediately told another to go get them. Just little things like that.)

We were in Casitas 4 (sorry, Kathy, I would have preferred Casitas 3!), not a renovated room, but very nice and very comfortable. The privacy screen in the sink area was really nice; I could get dressed to go out and get my coffee without waking my sleeping d! And the queen beds were very comfortable.

Mousekeeping was up to the normal standard I expect at hotels.

We were near Bus Stop #2, which was great for the return trip to the hotel. We usually took Bus Stop #1 to the parks, after getting coffee & pastries, but didn't have to stand at all. And we never waited anywhere for more than 10 minutes before a bus came.

We only had 2 relatively minor complaints: 1) Not being on the meal plan, I found Pepper Market expensive. Pastries sold at the parks for $2.75 are $4.15 here. A half-chicken was $15, but we were able to share. So we just didn't eat there very much.
2) We moved to CSR from POP, and our bags weren't in our room when we returned from the parks at 11 PM. Since they also had our carry-ons, we couldn't even get ready for bed while waiting. It took about a 1/2 hour.

But those were the only issues we had. And I've booked a bounceback for September at CSR!

How is the weather? I went the first week of may last year on my first solo trip and I didn't think it would that hot yet but it was a squelcher.

Hey Buzz, do you know if there are life vests at the pools for little swimmers? I remember that POFQ had them when we were there in '01 and my eldest was 6 then (eek!). He went down the slide confidently with that on.

Hi All,

We are a family of four considering CSR for week in June. Did I read correctly that there is a $10 mandatory daily charge for internet acess and toll call usage? Do other resorts do this as well?

Thanks!

Yes, the lifejackets are located at the main pool.

Thanks Buzz for your quick response! So you pay for it only if you use it? It's not a mandatory charge, am I understanding correctly?

btw, your website is wonderful. It certainly got DH's attention for this resort!

It is charged only if you use it. We've stayed seven times and I don't bring my computer with and we've never been charged.

Correct, its not mandatory.

What's is mandatory is the 10% tip at the Pepper Market. You can avoid the tip by getting your food to go and eating at one of the many outdoor tables, or using one of the other eateries.

another question about the internet hook-up in the guest rooms...

do you hook it up and then call down to the tech people or the front desk to have it turned on or is it automatically "on" when you plug in and they can see how long you use it and charge you as such?

I know that some of the resorts with Preferred Room Locations have maps pointing out exactly where the preferred rooms are located.

Is there a map that shows exactly where Water View Rooms are located here at CSR?

Thank you in advance! :goodvibes

We just changed our reservation from the Poly to Coronado for Sept. Does anyone know if the room rehabs will be complete by then? We're hoping to fall in love with a moderate. It seems to be everyone's favorite...

The rehabs are scheduled to be completed by October 09. So you should have a good shot at a rehabbed room when you go in September (we are going September 20-29).

Hello Buzz, Kathy, and all CSR fans! My family and I were at CSR this past May and LOVED it. We are currently booked to stay at the Pop Century this coming May....but I am really missing CSR! I need you guys to talk me into an upgrade! I think it will be around $350 to upgrade to CSR, but I am considering it. My children thought the POP looked like fun, but now even they are thinking about it.
I'll try...
